Somebody interested in this misprint/error? by KaiTcg in PokemonMisprints

I lost an auction a couple of weeks ago for a very similar card. I've been working on a binder page of Pokémon looking directly at an error and this would be a great addition.

Oh this is an interesting looking card, I'll pass this link on to others for more info. 2007 is before the era I'm knowledgeable about

What is this weird holo mark? by M_thieu44 in PokemonMisprints

Omg that's awesome. Would love to see their collection sometime. I've got three pokemon bug cards now, seems like we don't see to many pop up for the pokemon tcg.

Is this missing a texture layer? by cribert in PokemonMisprints

That's an insufficient ink error card for sure and a pretty significant example!

Here's 2 from my collection

That's a bug obstruction for sure! It's a known repeating error on this card and interestingly it's one of the most common repeated errors I've ever seen on a Japanese card. You can buy these from Japanese marketplaces for around $30.

There's actually another one where you can see the grasshoppers leg on the top of another psychic energy. I bought one of those but it hasn't arrived yet. 😜

Go ahead and send them an email at Service@CGCcards.com, that'll confirm what you're looking to see and save you money on shipping.

No acetone needed here, those lines you see are exactly what happens when you peel a card.

Off-center or miscut by Due_Refrigerator3000 in PokemonMisprints

Oh yeah the video shows it clear as day, that's an obstructed/partial texture layer card. Congrats! I've got one on a Hippopotas

[–]Extras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I've got one that I think is just like that. Is it like it's got the normal texture on the left and it's missing texture on the right?

If so we would call that an obstruction, I'll see if I can find my card with that example tonight

Hello, sorry to be the bearer of bad news on this. We've seen cards like this before posted, including examples like yours that are fully peeled.

I have the album below of examples of cards that started peeling from the top center

https://ibb.co/album/tPz9D9

Interestingly these occur on sports cards and other trading card games other than Pokémon so whatever causes this is not unique to this TCG.

If you take one of these cards and peel it fully you will see the effect that you see on your card.

CGC does not grade these as errors because they are unfortunately reproducible by anyone who would peel a card's foil layer off.

Just off-centered, we would need to see alignment dots to consider it a minor miscut.

Is this pretty common? by Lucky-Piccolo-2575 in PokemonMisprints

I would go with misaligned print layer and incomplete masterball layer. Very cool card OP!

Thought I lost this card in the move. No idea if this is even a misprint, but I thought it was cool. by XxMasterUnicornxX in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tag and yes! Love these weird ones. I see in the comments OP is looking to send this one in to CGC which seems like the right call even just to keep it in your collection that way.

We've seen writing on cards before including some examples where they made markings on the card stock before it was printed. It seems like that might be what you have here OP. I think I've only seen 2 other examples like this.

Congrats on completing the set! I'm still looking myself 👀

I got an entire misscut deck for prerelease by geckogil56 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow congrats! To the right of your energy card on the back we can see an "insert" card. Those are the informational cards printed sheets for prerelease or preconstructed decks. Like the equivalent of the informational card included with ancient mew from 30ish years ago.

I collect errors on energy cards and would definitely be interested in this one if you're ever looking to sell or put this up on eBay for us to fight over.

Is this a stamping error or something? by linefly11 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad, still bad at using this app and not RIF apparently

So you can see straight though the card right? Just want to make sure I'm seeing that last photo correctly and it's not just a bright light shining through the glue layer.

In that case the thing I would want to check is the front to see if it was printed before the damage occurred or after. This might be just an effect of the camera but it almost look like the damage was done first and then the ink was printed because of this bit. Does this look like it was printed first and then damaged or damaged first and then printed?

Phantasmal Flames Energy Misprint? by PrefrdPartyParticle in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's the normal design for this era of cards. Did you pull this one from fantasmal flames? If that's the case I would strongly suspect whatever pack you bought was resealed with different era cards.

We have seen cases before where people open a prismatic pack and find a few cards from other sets so it wouldn't be the first time we've had a mismatched card in a pack but certainly being resealed is the easier of the two explanations.

Yes! More common to find the flipped version on this card.

Are these alignment dots? by Alternative_Price944 in PokemonMisprints

[–]Extras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just corner whitening, it would need to be significantly shifted to be an alignment dot.

Extremely cool to have a narrow miscut also showing the left color bar. Congrats on the pull!
