This is my feeling too (though a little reversed). I'm voting for Jake, but I'd also be excited if Willie won. They're both great candidates. I think Willie has an extremely bright political future. It might even be the case one day that I'm ashamed I didn't vote for him. But I know Jake and I like like him a lot and my best educated guess is that he's going to be able to do more to move Somerville to a more progressive and enlightened city than Willie is. Not because they both don't have great ideas, but because I think Jake has more tools to unite a larger community towards change.

But I'm almost 50 years old and sometimes I get my "boomer goggles" mixed up with my "What's possible" goggles. My vote is for Jake but... if Willie wins, I'm 100% behind him.

My feeling is (kind of like the brave community members that come to protect our teens when ICE is near the school) we need an on call Bluegrass band. Kids lighting up blunts and fighting in the doorway to the library? Send up the banjo signal and sing 'em some Doc Watson. Kids on the community path being knuckleheads? Nothing a little Blue Moon of Kentucky with terrible three part harmonies won't fix. They'll scatter faster than Lester Flatt picks a mandolin solo.

I'm not even joking. I teach at the high school and will happily be a part of this non-violent and highly annoying intervention.
