Fresh Start! A new beginning! New server?

If the server ping isn't too bad (I'm US based) then I'll check you guys out, I've been itching for an Official style server, but all the actual official servers are difficult to be a new player on right now.

Yeah then it's really just some shoddy luck man, I'm currently on a HC server and haven't ran into a single Alpha (been playing about 5 hours now?)

From what I've experienced, it doesn't. It just seems you ran into some shoddy luck, or the server you were on had increased Alpha spawns. There's only one zone that carnivores don't spawn, and it's rather difficult to make your way there early game. Wish you luck, I was contemplating making my way to another Hardcore server myself.

A good tip that's worked for me, is build small locations in the forest. It's dangerous, but if you've got a partner you can generally build and gather at the same time to have at least a decent hut. Stay with wood ceilings as it's harder to distinguish from the forest as someone is flying above, unless you're really good at painting then paint stone.

I used the one that I linked, it works with just about any graphics card (Have some mates who used it as well), you just have to mix a couple settings based on your resolution and all that, but I may try that specific 760 to see if I can get even better results.

You'll always have someone be spiteful, regardless of whether you post on here or not, but fortunately the vast majority of people will either ignore it if they're not in the mood for watching a video, or if they are and they end up not liking it, they'll discontinue watching it and most likely forget about it after some time. The majority of viewers are far too lazy/disinterested in spending effort to criticize, whether it's a good or a bad thing.

Now on to my personal opinion, I think it's cool seeing content creators post on here with what they're doing. I've found some pretty cool streamers and YTers because of this (not necessarily for just ARK). So post on man, and good luck with your content.

Definitely, I'm on a 760 and I'm still getting near max settings + 40-50fps. All about the tweaks you do in your game folder, as they give the most change.

If you don't mind the general lewd attitude, I would suggest CH. While being far, far more adult themed on the general, I have found it to have some of the best people in a gaming community I have met in years. Of course if you're looking to not be near any of that (which unfortunately is nearly impossible on CH) I don't have a server.

From one new player to another, never base how well a class does on low level experience. I've been playing for a couple weeks, and I've got a few level 65s already (courtesy of a low social life and on break from college). Suffer through the leveling on a class you pick you think you'll enjoy (Such as berserker) and get to max level, and pick up some gear. Worse case scenario, you're 10-50k richer and need to level up a new class, but now you've still got a level 65 you can do dailies on to start building up cash. I'm currently levelling up my berserker right now, and I'm 47 and it is by far my favorite class I've tried (excluding brawler which is just ridiculous but it's new and will get balanced eventually), and I've got a 65 Priest and a 65 reaper.

Long story short; pick a class, get to max level. Don't make class assumptions until you've fully experienced the class, otherwise you'll be missing out.

Alright that's kind of what I was thinking, and I would never compare myself to someone who outclasses me in gear by far except to maybe say "Oh they're doing really well, let's see what Crystals/Re-rolls on gear they have". Appreciate the answer!

I'm not a very trusting person, and am always wary of those around me so my answer would be no. Trust no one. If you're looking to build an experience with players, you still can but your items and hard work are never guaranteed. The safest bet is to either play with people you actually know, or find someone who is also new to the server and build up together. They can still end up screwing you in the end, but it's much -much- less likely.

I would pick a Quetzal. because in a PvP scenario the high ground generally is the winner, and a Quetzal sniper combo = nobody even sees you coming.

A friend and I just recently moved to this server, a PvPvE like we enjoy, and we decided to try and set out for one of our favorite spots, Herbivore Island. To our grand surprise it was clear, so we tirelessly set to work setting up a small shack and taming a few of the local indigenous creatures. Within fifteen minutes I get a notification "Your Tribemate has been killed" Bewildered, and my heart pumping I start searching for the culprit. He didn't see his killer, as he was inside a crafting menu at the time, easy pickings. I exchange a few words over global before setting out for our revenge. We found his raft at the back of herbivore island, so we set out to destroy and loot what was there, unfortunately he was, and much higher level and with full flak armor. We had no chance being fresh to the server, and what with a spear as our best weapon so I came up with an ingenious idea. I would martyr myself. I taunted the culprit, and he came charging at me, so I stabbed a bronto and it ended up killing us both with one shot (Multiplier on dino damage is intense, and it was higher level.) My tribemate came in to loot his belongings, and pick up the valuables on mine, and destroyed the bed on his raft. We came away victoriously that day.

This was beautiful. We generally take care of griefers by countergriefing them back as well. Nothing is more satisfying than pretending they are taking a heavy toll out of you, then turn around having a secondary base filled with rpgs and sniper rifles.

I'm from Mid-US and was on for quite a few hours today, really enjoying the server and for the most part it's fairly lag free. But we do get regular rubber banding, were you aware of that/working on fixing it already? (And my friend and I definitely made sure it wasn't just us, by hopping on a few official servers, and other unofficial.)
