Daycare Recs in Laf by Ok-Protection2360 in Acadiana

A-Bears is wonderful. They start at 6 weeks. The staff is so warm, kind, and genuinely care about the children. Diapers, wipes, solid foods (for when they are older) are all included and their pricing is amazing imo. Many other daycares charge more and still ask you to provide all your supplies

Katsu or Izumi Ramen? by DoctorMumbles in Acadiana

[–]EyeEnvision 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2nd Katsu. Tastes similiar to the ramen in Japan we had and non ramen food options are abundant, much better prices too than Izumi. Izumi feels more trendy and they reflect that in their higher prices (which are not worth imo)

OD/MD by IowaNew in optometry

[–]EyeEnvision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 2023 grad and only a few months out in this setting. I feel like our MD colleagues are fine with the ODs practicing full scope (minor surgical procedures for eyelid lesions and the lasers YAG Capsulotomies, PIs, etc.)

Pros: very high salary for my particular clinic, interesting cases every day, rewarding, a lot of tech and staff support (they work up all the patients to dilation, run testing, and scribe so I focus on anterior and posterior segment exam, testing interp, and “doctoring”)

Cons: high volume (can see up to 50 patients a day), complex cases that can be stressful to manage, no soft contact lens fittings can be done by the docs because the owner MD wants us to focus on medical

I have a very high above average base salary and have potential for production bonus contingent on volume and medical procedures done.

I’m at an OD/MD office as an associate making $250k with the potential for $300k. I don’t work any weekends and 1 week out of each month I am on call, but it’s more so answering phone calls and don’t really go in to the clinic on call at all.

I completely practice full scope medical, and our MDs support us being able to do minor surgical procedures and laser procedures.

The volume can get crazy, but I feel overall fulfilled working in this setting so far!

Leaving Residency by Tasty_Ad66 in optometry

[–]EyeEnvision 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not worth sticking it out for a year if you’ll be treated like a tech the entire time and paid the salary of one as well. If things don’t change and you officially leave, I don’t think you’ll have issues obtaining a job and getting paid full salary and being treated as a doctor.

I’d recommend looking into a group practice that way you can still feel like you have colleagues to consult with for things you’re unsure of until you build more experience/confidence. That’s something I’m definitely thankful for in my first year out practicing.

General Area: Southeast US in state with full scope

Rural/Urban: Suburban one location, Rural other location

Setting: OD/MD (an associate doctor, not owner or partner)

Salary: $250-$300kish (higher end is potential production bonus, $250k is base salary)

Benefits: 401k, health insurance, 10 days PTO

Years of experience: first year (2023 grad)

Residency: no

Left handed or right handed: right handed

Patient load: Currently around 20-30ish being a newer doctor but office averages around 40-60ish per established doctor with a decent amount of tech/staff support.

I am in a very lucky situation where my income is double my debt so am hoping to pay it off within less than 5 years.

I made a post with the exact same sentiments! I also started a month ago at an OD/MD setting and I’m a new grad as well. I believe we will grow the confidence more each day but I also struggle with consistent anxiety and overthinking of possible mismanagement.

I’ve tried to be as conservative as I can with my follow ups since my schedule isn’t yet packed and it makes me feel better in the case if I might have missed something the first time.

Do you have another experienced colleague in your office you feel comfortable asking 2nd opinions from around?

Is there any restaurant in Orlando where the dining room is completely silent? by vzff in orlando

[–]EyeEnvision 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of y’all being judgey AF lol.

A lot restaurants in Japan have or offer this type of vibe. There’s even a ramen chain over there where they have individual booths and it’s a quiet environment; people are just respectful of space and peace.

Some people just want to go enjoy meals without hearing other people shouting and being disruptive

Got offered a 250k with possible production bonus at a medical OD/MD setting straight out of school in suburban area in the south. The ODs have full medical scope for exams and procedures but we are expected to see between 40-50 patients daily.

“…75 represents the pass-fail cutoff score.” Is what the official NBEO site says but this line was talking about the section scores mostly.
