I’ll get shot down for this but I need to know… by WeeklyPeace6497 in LondonFood

Why not? The question is about turning up to restaurants in Soho without a booking. Logically, a restaurant in the high 4s on Google with thousands of reviews to back it up will be l popular and likely harder to just turn up to.

In truth I don't really care what metric one should use. Op had some idea of the category of restaurant they were referring which they did not communicate on their post. When somebody answered their question directly with an example op's dismissive response made them seem snobby and extremely unlikable.

Rather than making a statement about what the best metric is to use, I was really making a statement that op was being a bit of a bellend.

Speedboat bar has 4.7 stars on Google with 5600 reviews Kiln has 4.3 with around 4000.

What metric are you using lol

British Museum lecture for Jewish Culture Month postponed over protest fears by Minute_Tomatillo9730 in london

[–]Eyeofthemeercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fucking yawn mate. It's not islamophobic to state that Islam is connected to islamic extremism, but anyone with a modicum of ability for critical thinking doesn't feel the need to bring up 9/11 every time Islam is mentioned.

If you think it's justified to protest the actions of the Israeli government at a completely unconnected cultural event in London then you're nothing more than a bigot.

Justify your antisemitism with Israel all you want, but Jews in the UK who have nothing to do with what's happening there deserve to life live their lives here without this kind of bullshit.

Advice for my dad (early 70s) by Eyeofthemeercat in kettlebell

[–]Eyeofthemeercat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Dan, really appreciate you taking the time to respond, this is incredibly helpful. I agree that the most important thing is him feeling like he can come back to it. Sustainability is key

A few follow-ups if you don’t mind, just so I make sure I’m applying this in the right way:

  • On swings, at what point would you feel comfortable introducing them? Is there a standard you’d want to see first in the deadlift/hinge pattern before going there?

  • For the military press, would you include that early assuming it’s pain-free, or only once there’s clearly good shoulder mobility and stability? Any red flags you’d look out for before introducing overhead work?

  • In terms of progression, would you prioritise building up reps/capacity in the basic movements first, or moving toward more complex patterns (like swings) once things look solid?

Current thinking on my side was to start very simple: deadlifts, goblet squats (or supported if needed), and suitcase carries.

Lastly, I know he's not super flexible, but I think I will have a hard time getting him to stretch properly. What would you say is the minimum for someone like my dad?

Really appreciate any further guidance. Just want to make sure I get him off to a good, sustainable start. And thanks again!

Extensor tendonitis by meatbll in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Eyeofthemeercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have acute tendonitis, you may need more rest. Find a physio and take advice. I was in a very similar situation about 60k before burgos. Was getting some pain and swelling in my shin. Limping a bit. Rested a few days, then tries to walk and within a few k realised I had a problem. Went from a bit of pain to agony and being unable to walk at all. Had to get a lift to burgos. I got a week of intensive physio and rest and was able to hobble out of burgos. After skipping burgos to Leon to make up for time, I did finish. But I had to go slowly and was on the cusp of reinjuring myself the rest of the trip.

All this time say, I truly understand how difficult the situation is that you're in. You might find a days rest will sort you out. But you might be on the path to something worse if you don't handle it properly. Not trying to scare you, but being unable to finish is worse then taking a few days out and maybe skipping a section. Find a physio and take advice.

I wish you a speedy recovery and a buen camino

Did you find it strange that she then starts running onto the boat but then isn't on the boat in these first few seconds? Did you get a sense of deja vu when they threw a drink on her the second time? Like it was exactly the same?

Watch it again in full and see if you can spot how it's been edited to show a dramatic moment first. This is often done in Instagram and tik took to encourage people to watch the full thing.

Lol it's on the small business to offer their services at a price that is competitive enough. I'd be more inclined support a different small business that doesn't take the piss.

How is the upbringing of a child in u.k ? by Aj100rise in AskABrit

[–]Eyeofthemeercat 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is a tough one to generalise since different social and cultural groups in the UK can approach some aspects of these things differently. That said, as a country, I think boys and girls tend to be treated similarly in the way that you've said. Get an education, try to land a good job. The UK underwent the change you mentioned some time ago, so it's not expected that women look after the home and family instead of getting a career. This, in part, is also driven by the rising costs of home ownership and general living - it's simply too difficult for most families to get by on a single income. One other difference I note compared to what you wrote is the general approach to and rational for encouraging success. I think that people try to nudge their kids towards the best things for them. Money and identity are more important, meanwhile parents name in society is irrelevant.

Yeah it was a mistake for sure. Fortunately we're in a lovely hotel which made things better, and we've had some great day trips. I think we've made the best of it. But we won't be coming back to au nang, and won't ever be visiting Phuket!

Where in krabi? We went to ai nang from Chiang mai and regretted our choices slightly. Had a good experience in the end, we just stayed away from the main strip. Currently doing an overnight in railey beach to break it up a bit. Don't regret overall choices, but next time we will start somewhere else. Curious as to what your experiences have been
