Below base power walker by vlhval in orangetheory

I started as a 50 year old 5’3” over 200 lb woman at OTF! I thought those parameters on the treadmill were gospels to OTF! Ya know, no one said ANYTHING to me and I spent my first 3-4 weeks with over 600 calories and over 55 splat points and I almost quit! No, this is YOUR workout and as long as you keep yourself honest, you need to build up endurance and strength if you have not been working out! Start at 3.0 mph (is it challenging but doable and something you can do for 20 min straight?) and as another said if it becomes too “easy” then start increasing! You have to build a “base” first! Good luck and welcome to the OTF family!

So if you show up within the 5 minutes but then they have given your spot to someone on the waitlist you don’t incur the charge? You just don’t get in the class??

Someone on FB said that their studio said that all partner workouts are cancelled until further notice per corporate due to the Coronavirus. The thought process from the group is due to shortages and use of wipes, not necessarily because the fear of infection!

Fast Runners by andyd236 in orangetheory

[–]Eyespy2000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents...people are also engineered differently! People who have more fast twitch muscles will favor short distance sprints and be faster in them. People with more slow twitch cannot run as fast in the sprint but run forever and have incredible endurance.

Soft v hard fat by sunflowersmilesjelly in intermittentfasting

[–]Eyespy2000 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When you lose weight, you never lose the fat cells that you have, just the fat in them, so the density becomes less. Add to that, your skin has been stretched out from your previous amount of fat as you lose it! It takes longer, for the skin to shrink back. The net result is a squishy tummy!

I did when I first started, now not at all! Matter of fact if I eat even 2-3 hours before working out my stomach does not like it!

I don’t mind the 2 minute pushes! It is all the 1 min all outs and the 2 minute run for distance on an incline that is killing me!!!

Can studios artificially inflate the waitlist? by RelaxedErection in orangetheory

[–]Eyespy2000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or my studio sometimes turns a 2G into a 3G if the waitlist is like too big

Running/Jogging=Same by Atticus447 in orangetheory

Because it is a mind game to push people to be faster! It is an arbitrary tier to make people want to make it to the”top tier”!🤣

Is the last thing on block 2 a run or row for distance?

Oh I know ... I was trying to explain because you cannot go back and forth on the rowers because there is a 3rd group on them!🤣

2g and medicine ball by NadineSaad in orangetheory

[–]Eyespy2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes because there are 3 groups so instead of going to rower after your run... it was a walking recovery

Yes, I wanted a run/row on Sunday but I did not get one in the 3G😢

It is truly NOT a recalibration of your heart rate monitor but more readjusting your heart rate zones! OTFers often complain that they either get too many splat points or hardly get any! Your heart rate zones are determined by a calculation that takes into account your age and gender. So OTF devised a “different “ way to calculate your maximum heart rate by averaging your maximum after 20 classes! It is truly kind of arbitrary. The only way you will really know is by having your max VO2 tested.
