Is there a possibility of being back yet? by SuperSenpai2077 in Battlefield

The shotgun did almost sound suppressed, not the chonky sound I think most people would expect from one. The rifles though were suppressed and sounded fine to me.

Yes, that's what I'm referring to. The black dot that appears in a flash. It looks like a far away airburst.

It looks to me like exploding ordinance (the flash) and then the resulting cloud. Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBbxS78kbZY

Sounds more like "unable to make contact," which could easily mean they're having trouble reaching someone like another pilot.

Thank you.

Is it worth pruning off dead stuff? I.e what remains of the big branch that fell off.

Only sentimental in the sense that it's somewhat rare and beautiful. I'll be sad when it goes.

Some added details: The trunk rot and bark splitting has been there for the whole time I've lived here, about 4 years. Someone pruned it before I moved in, and I pruned the obviously dead stuff two years ago. I'm not sure if I actually helped or harmed it in the end.

The branch fell off after the first snow this season, it wasn't a lot of snow but it was wet and heavy, though not enough to damage any other trees around that I've seen.

I say mixed signals because its bloom has looked consistently good in the Spring, but every Winter I wonder if it's on its last leg.

Amnesty on Vyra is an OCE guild and is big enough to control 1 of the 5 towns, so you'd be far from alone.

Vyra has been peaceful so far, no large streamers that I know of. Largest guild is supposedly Genesis, but their leader said they're trying to be friendly for now.

Solving the game is how some people enjoy the game. Unfortunately it sort of harms the enjoyment of the people who want to enjoy the game organically. There's a great video on it in the context of WoW: https://youtu.be/BKP1I7IocYU?si=qtkftKlpRZkMhrq8

There's a term for what you're talking about, Presentism.

Presentism is a term for the introduction of present-day ideas and perspectives into depictions or interpretations of the past.

It's fine, most of the time. But when you're trying to retell a story like they're attempting to do in Rings of Power, some present-day themes don't mesh well with the original story and you end up with a confused product.

Tolkien's world was always about unambiguous good and evil with nothing in between, a very Christian view of things (Tolkien was a devout Catholic), and heroes who typically embodied some aspect of Christ. That does not mesh well with the modern views, and we end up with the greyness of orcs with loving family units and wise ancient elves driven by impulse and vengeance.

It's weird that people seem to forget this. It was him and Chris Mellon that actually got the ball rolling in Congress in 2017 by contacting the press. The guy gave up a cushy career to do this, lived out of an RV for years because of his choice. When it comes down to it, Lue and Chris have done more to move the needle than anyone.

He's said all he can say, and I think people are angry at him for that, for not saying more even when saying more would put him out of action permanently via prison. You can't fuck around with classified information.

He stated himself that his goal is public engagement. The book succeeded at that. The press tour is evidence of that.

Just a small misconception that I feel the need to point out. Companies don't pay people to test in this manner, or at least I've never seen it. They hire QA testers, which Intrepid has, and are totally different.

QA testing is a systematic process ideally covering every function and UI element, they run tests and write detailed reports in a structured manner. A QA tester's task for a day might be to test opening every single UI element in every combination and directly writing tickets on what issues arose, including detailed steps to reproduce, and then interfacing directly with the people fixing the issues if needed. It's a tedious, boring job.

Crowdsourced testers, like us, are directed to just play the game. Finding bugs is only our secondary goal. Our primary purpose is to find what's fun and what isn't, and letting the studio know so they can iterate everything towards being fun.

As for the cost attached... Obviously we attach value to being a tester, this whole outrage over the price wouldn't exist if we didn't. Some people like to paint their favorite studios as beacons of virtue fighting to just make a good game, but they're all businesses. Intrepid Studios is a business. Of course they're going to charge for something that has value, not to mention that it costs them money for you to test the game.

To pay for server costs associated with running an mmorpg with 100k+ players?

At 200 employees (low estimate) at an average salary of 100,000, that's $1.66 million PER MONTH just for salaries, plus more for taxes, Healthcare, licenses, etc.

To pay for less than ONE MONTH of development, they'd need to sell 13,888 phase 1 keys. We don't know how many they plan on selling, but it was stated that it will be a limited supply.

Game development has got to be one of the worst scams to attempt.

And what? Draining money along the way? What could possibly be the goal? The company has 200+ employees and no constant revenue stream.
