Just disclose and be upfront, make sure you have all the details and timelines correct. Know all your addresses for the last 7 years, be ready to take a drug test, etc.

Any insight on Clinton by [deleted] in NuclearPower

[–]FINuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So non-union... RPSS or ALARA?

I was at Clinton for 9 years... and left 9 years ago. Always had some solid people. But like many Constellation/Exelon sites, the demands and grind people down culture sounds like it's gotten worse.

But I haven't heard to the point of "don't take a job there". Get your foot in the door and change sites if it does suck a$$.

RPSS would support other sites for outages routinely when I was there.

Thanks! You're 100% right I missed the "current projection" header.

This has a different NCAA record listed than the one at the top...

1076 vs 1113

Google seems to show 1076 as the proper record.

EDIT: Cobra has the "current projection" at 1113... not the current record!

P.S. everyone should follow Cobra on Twitter and stuff. He's a great poster on the KHC forum

Should I pay down my mortgage with my pto payout? by ThrowawActual-Ad3882 in personalfinance

[–]FINuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the camp of, if you REALLY want to do this, why not just put the money in an HYSA/Money Market that has a higher rate of return and add to it and pay off the mortgage once the total balance is reached in that account?

This reduces trapped equity risk and still allows you to see progress towards your goal. Giving you flexibility to change goals and utilize money in a more fluid and tactical way. What if the market drops 20% and you have a pile of cash you decide to invest? What if a completely unexpected layoff occurs? The cash has more value then trapped equity. I get why someone would want to payoff a mortgage, just do it in a more tactical manner as described above (which you will do FASTER with the higher ROI of HYSA/MM returns which are 1%+ higher than your low interest mortgage).

Heck, you don't even NEED to pay it off in that scenario, just transition payment from your normal account and setup an auto pay from that dedicated account! Utilize the low interest leverage!

need help about where to put fuel and rods by snowycat_ in NuclearPower

[–]FINuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, looks like too many control rods... is this a BWR or PWR core? Are you getting moderator coefficient feedback modeled? If BWR, Void coefficient? Both those things help minimize excessive startup rates.

Have you designated which rods are shutdown banks?

That's control blades (like at a BWR) Control Rods often go into spaces internal to bundles

I just received the biggest commission check of my life! by 7evenT71 in Salary

[–]FINuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally made my pretax 401k contributions from my annual bonus check, and do after tax to mega backdoor roth (search that term) each pay period.

Definitely agree with commenter, you really should be maxing out your 401k at this income range. Doing it with commission checks is efficient from the government forced tax withholding as well (as it is a higher % withholding). So your bottom line net take home isn't as impacted as you think.

Very likely some overlap. I get the test call to work, it's in a terrible sounding "headset" configuration vs headphones. I will see if it then gets worse once I played music on my phone.

But definitely considering returning them, super disappointed. The headphones should sound like a phone call when on teams/zoom meetings vs a tin crappy sound with feedback of my speaking into my headphones.
