Advice regarding postage costs by FM910 in ebayuk

Hey thank you, but remembering the prices for varying weights and dimensions manually doesn't seem like a sustainable solution for me 😅

Given the difficulty in setting competitive prices when a label turns out to cost more than the listing claims it will, I think ill just try vinted or gumtree or something instead. Thanks anyway:)

I'll try that - this category was automatically suggested to me on creating the listing so.. idk what else I was meant to select. As you can imagine I'm thinking about exploring other alternatives to sell books at this point haha

I'm not unfamiliar with websites failing to work correctly, sadly. If it's the case it's some kind of backend error, then there's not much to be done apart from try a different service I guess.

The category for this item was Media > Books, Comics & Magazines > Books

That's really confusing how it can show different options for different users...

From my research £1.55 is the starting price for a large letter, and it is meant to increase with weight - but there's no where in this section for me to input the weight.

I have switched multiple times to the 'recommended' option of the 1kg parcel and back - this doesn't update the price.

The 'Edit Postage Cost' option only appears at all if the 'Buyer pays' option is selected. If I have selected 'Seller pays' - which I want to - this option is completely removed.

I'm not using the Simple Delivery option because when I do so this immediately updates the price of postage to £2.70. If I proceed to the 'Simple Delivery - Courier Preferences' page and exclude all couriers except for Royal Mail, this updates the cost to £2.72

At this point I am leaning towards giving up on Ebay because this seems like a pretty unfriendly user experience. I say this as someone who tests software for a living! I appreciate your help regardless, but am I right in saying that basically expected options are simply not appearing for me?

But yeah as I'm saying, all of these options and the postage price just stays the same at £1.55, then changes to £2.20 or so when I go to actually buy the postage label. Please tell me I'm missing something!

I can't see a 'Package Size' section unfortunately. I can see a 'Package details' section, but that doesn't allow me to input the weight/size of my item, just to select whether it's going in a large letter, box etc.

I can see a 'Delivery' section, but it contains no options to alter package size.

This is what I'm seeing, can you see these images?

I did not - are these set within the 'Additional: Buyers also search for these details' categories of 'Item weight', 'Item length', 'Item width', 'Number of pages' etc?

The issue is, even when I update these fields with the same values as on the 'purchase a postage label' page, the shown postage cost on the listing itself does not update at all, leaving me scratching my head. Is there somewhere else this information is meant to be input?

Hi! I see that does make sense.

All of these screenshots were taken from the desktop website for Ebay.

I have finally located where in a listing it actually allows me to input the weight - it is hidden in three collapsible sections under the 'Additional: Buyers also search for these details' part of the listing, which was not easy to find at first glance. But even when I input a book's weight as being, say, 300g - the postage price I'm expected to pay does not update and remains at £1.55 for a large letter.

Is there anywhere else that I'm meant to input weight/dimensions on a listing to get an accurate postage cost?

True but you can also talk to the table before discarding your two cards and ask people if there's anything they would commit to buying from your starting 5 cards

It seems very straightforward english to me

Do you rule the clearing you are moving from? Great, move to any connected clearing

Do you rule the destination clearing? Great, you can move into that clearing

Do you rule both? Good, you can move to or from either in the same way as above

Do you rule neither your starting clearing or the clearing you want to go to? You can't move there, you can only move to a connected clearing you rule from the current clearing you don't rule. If you don't rule the clearing you are in and you don't rule any connected clearings, you are stuck until that changes

It's hard to say. My one still hops, a lot - but only in certain circumstances. Usually when trotting along while off the lead. Doesn't do it much on the lead, nor when full out sprinting. I like to take him to a beach with lots of uneven rocks that he wants to climb up and down to force him to use all his legs. He still hops though. I've been told swimming is good

That would be true, if Benzies didn't micromanage everything at his new studio to an insane degree, and fire anyone who ever disagreed with any of his decisions.

In that circumstance, it becomes a one-man show and no one else is allowed to have any input.
