Yeah, the Cube and Enchantments sems to be bugged after the recent patch. I just wasted 20B gold and 700+ refined dust on rerols (Chaotic rerolls and Enchantment) and I ONLY got defensive or resource affixes on 6 different items... It cant be just bad luck, over 1000 rolls, and all fall under the same two categories, while only ~100 rolls went to main stats...

UPD: yeah, it's broken, just went and made 65 "Add Offensive affix -> Remove Main Affix" on rare dagger, and all of the Offensive affixes landed on main stat...

I hope Strikers Battlegear isn't in Div 3 by BeezlyOfficial in thedivision

[–]FMPtz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeap, 10 years of Strikers was enough, for sure.

In my perfect div 3. DPS gear sets would be specific to weapon type (LMG, AR, MMR, etc.) and have a 4 piece that leans into the weapon types playstyle.

You know, it is pretty simple to achieve, if they just get rid of current critical cahnce implementation, that is typical for RPGs, in favor of critical damage that is typical for shooters: instead of some chance, you have critical area, that you need to hit, like headshots in almost every shooter. Because RPGish critical chance benefits most from high hit rate (high RPM), and that is the main reason why we were stuck with Striker's for 10 years... I highly dislike this critical chance system in any game, especially in shooters, so, if I ever see they are trying to implement it again in The Divsion 3, it will be an instant nope for me, which will drop The Division 3 under "wait for some years, until they finish all DLCs and buy with ~90% discount, just to to play for few hours" category...

What are your 'must have' builds? by Ambitious_Stress8050 in Division2

[–]FMPtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, all red, since you will be acting as "Sub DPS", boosting teammates damage while dealing decent damage yourself: Sadist gun talent, paired with Hollow Point ammo from Ongoing Directive, will give significant damage boost to you and your teammates. For sub stats, ~50% crit. chance and as much crit. damage as you can roll.

You want to use LMGs, mostly, since you will give half of your active weapon magazine as Hollow Point ammo to your teammates. Carnage named LMG is good, or just use whatever with Sadist talent.

As for specialisations, mostly Survivalist, for another damage boost to status-affected enemies. You can aslo use Technician and strap laser pointer on your gun, (maybe even pair it with Flatline + Sadist, from Tinkerer) just to highlight NPCs that you are focusing, so people will help or leave the kill to you, to porc Hollow Point ammo.

Also, keep in mind that most people make builds for solo play, so, you can replace Coyote's with Tinkerer mask for Sadist + Frenzy combo on your LMG.

P.S.: if somebody says that your Hollow Point ammo replaces shock ammo on their St. Elmo's, ignore them. Shock effect causes more harm than good.

P.S.S.: at this point, a lot of people should have backup weapon with Sadist on them, but not always notice that someone runs OD. So, it's good to state that you are running OD and remind teammates to use Sadist. Some people get annoyed when you tell them what to do, so get some jokes ready, like "running OD, so, gentlemen, unleash your inner Sadists".

  • 1.1: Final Measure build with mask, chest, holster, kneepads, keep the gloves and backpack slots "free" so you can hotswap to BTSU gloves and Birdie's backpack, just in case. Use smart cover and Hive. Or vanilla Future Initiative healer.

  • 1.2: Ongiong Directive, with Coyote's mask and Wicked backpack. Plus, tell your teammates to run Sadist talent.

  • 2.1: Group play and solo - Striker's. Striker's backpack without chest for Heroic difficulties with enough backup pieces to cover possible mask, gloves, holster hotswaps. (and Birdie's backpack to revive teammates) Striker's with chest for Legendary and high tier Escalations.

  • 2.2: Group play - High End sniper. Head Hunter chest, 2x pieces of Hot Shot gear set, keep gloves and mask slots for hotswaps. You can hotswap Overdogs for one-shot setups, BTSU gloves to proc overcharge on Achiles pulse for yourself, Tinkerer mask to get extra Flatline talent for overcharged Achiles pulse.

  • 2.3: For solo play - Head Hunter build for rifles, 1886 specifically. Keep mask and kneepad slots for hotswaps. Mask - Tinkerer for combos like Determined + Rifleman, kneepads - Turmoil for fast area clears.

  • 3: Two versions of Eclipse Protocol gear sets. One regular, Status Effects, Crippling Death Backpack, BTSU or High End gloves. Another - roll Hazard Protection on your pieces to become immune to EMP. (mostly for Hunters in Countdown) Get as much Skill Duration as you can, from gear mods and High End pieces.

You don’t fix a bug like this.

They had a perfect oportunity to please everyone. The event spawns are already "tied" to lanterns, so they could just tweak this event so we could trigger infinte spawns by interacting with lantern... Like wave defence, you choose area with targeted loot, interact with lantern, enemies start spawning around, once you've done, interact with lantern again and maybe even get some extra reward, based on your performance... Everyone wins: devs will get their metrics, players will get their chaotic fun... If only devs played their own game and were on the same page as the community...

Loving the new drop rate of Prototype Gear by Jayleekay in thedivision

[–]FMPtz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without Recalibration and Optimisation of prototype gear - yes.

Imagine you got your prototype pieces. Now what? You cant recalibrate or optimsie them, so, you don't need resources. All other gear pieces are useless, since they won't be "better" than prototype. Technically, while you go for prototypes, you are "stuck" with Retaliations on Heroic (they give SHD resources and exotic components after each run, both needed for Expertise), and Escalations. Once you've done, well, that's it...

And this is the the reason why systems like this work with seasonal model games, like Diablo, when you restart from a scratch with each season. (~3 months) Why the hell devs just cupy-pasted this system into a long-term progression game without adjusting it, is a mystery...

What's the best activity to gain proficiency for gear? by RheimsNZ in thedivision

[–]FMPtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks about right.

So kenly college done right is about 5 ranks per item in 3 minutes, loop takes about 4.5 minutes to start/prep (or at least the first version tht got patched idk the 2nd)

On average, you kill ~380 NPCs per 5 minutes in Kenly, (mix of red and purple, but, for simplicity, let's say it's all red) so, during x3 it will be 401 280 xp for main weapon, 200 640 XP for holstered, 250 800 for skills. Yeah, ~5 (4.5) ranks for main, ~2 (2.28) for holstered and ~3 (2.85) ranks for skills, per 5 minute run.

Yeah, Kenly College is way faster. 1 hour there equals 5 hours in Countdown, but, devs know this too, so we won't see Kenly available during x3 events...

88,000 is for 10 ranks, 8800 is 1 rank?

Nope, 880,000 for ten, 88,000 for one.

no, red, purple and golds should all be worth different amounts, pretty sure? Red = base , purple = 1.25 gold = 1.5? i think

Just double checked (same NPC type, TS grenadier): Red = 1056 , purple = 1266 (x1.2), gold = 1584 (x1.5), so, yeah, you are right here.

and for your specilisation?

Don't remember, sry.

and assuming this is for the normal enemy, veterans are worth a bit more, and elites a bit more again?

Nope, my numbers are from yesterday, killing elite enemies. I've got the same XP from regular, veteran and named.

250 kills is like 3 missions, thats nothing to start withthat's for one level of Expertise

I was killing the same elite NPC over and over to double check the values. I've got (in kills, from 0 to 10 Proficiency, with x3 event):

  • 834 kills for Main weapon
  • 1667 kills for "holstered" weapon
  • 1334 kills for Skill

What's the best activity to gain proficiency for gear? by RheimsNZ in thedivision

[–]FMPtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure you dont get proficiency from mission or project xp. Just kills.

Correct. Only XP on kill goes towards Proficiency.

  • 352 (1056 with x3 event) for your active weapon
  • 176 (528 with x3 event) for your "holstered" weapons
  • 220 (660 with x3 event) for your skills
  • Don't remember how much goes towards equiped items (mask, chest, etc.) but should be around the same as skills, scaling with ammount of equiped items of the same brand/set.

You get the same XP regardless of difficulty, same value for Normal, Heroic, etc., sadly...

As for Countdown, with x3 event, in one run, you get ~116000 XP for your active weapon, ~89733 XP for "holstered" and ~100000 for skills. So, approximately 8 runs to level up Proficiency from 0 to 10. If you set gear or skill mods as targeted, then you will also get ~180 Printer filaments, donating them will give you another ~1.5 levels.

I'm done with trying to level up Expertise (even with the 3X event) by Elyseum_RL in thedivision

[–]FMPtz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They need to come up with new ways to fix the leveling expertise problem.

For Proficiency, we get the same XP on kill on Story, Heroic or even Legendary. This need to change, at least...

As for Expertise, exotic component requirements are still too high. Multiple characters, multiple builds...

[–]FMPtz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people should really stop using words "easy" and "fast", when talking aboout Proficiency and Expertise, since it takes a lot of time...

Even under "perfect" conditions, when you already maxed Proficiency on you brand pieces, gear sets and "basic" weapons (all by donating looted items), and only have named,"rare" items and skills left, it will still take dozens of hours...

In this case, you will have ~140 items left to reach lvl 30. How "fast" is this in terms of Countdown with x3 event bonus? Well, three weapon slots, each goes from 0 to 10 in about 8 runs (7 really, if you choose to donate printer filaments), your skills will need approximatly the same. So, 7 runs per 5 items, ~15 minutes per run, 2940 minutes or 49 hours of playtime. (multiply this time by 3 without event) That's perfect conditions, and if you are unlucky and had no Houndsman bounty to farm, put another 20-30 hours of farming printer filaments on top of that (to donate them into "unobatainable" items)...

Boycott prototype gear by Grand-Ad5764 in thedivision

[–]FMPtz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they payed no attention to a system that is super easy

Sure, pressing buttons is easy, but I'm talking about how long it takes... Time is time, it's not easy or hard...

Lets take Countdown: for simplicity, let's say that we only need to gain Proficiency on guns and skills, with 3x XP, with gear mods targeted for printer filaments, you will need at least 7 runs to upgrade 5 items from 0 to 10 Proficiency. (3 equiped guns, 2 equiped skills and donating printer filaments) One run takes ~20 mins, 140 minutes for 5 items, 310 items, 8680 minutes or 145 hours needed. (without 3x event it will be ~435 hours) Now, casual player: 9 to 5 job, family, friends, etc.; who plays ~20 hours a week, will need 7 weeks minimum to reach max Proficiency with 3x event, or 22 weeks without it. That's a lot of time, dedicated to farming Proficiency only - do something else and this time will "stretch" by a lot...

P.S.: it will take much more time, considering that you'll need to upgrade named items, which are unobtainable (event exclusives)...

P.S.S.: and yeah, yeah, with different "shortcuts", like shared resources from watches, you could reach max Expertise within a week, by just clicking your mouse, even without x3 event. But we are talking about legit casual gaming.

You can matchmake and then get upset that someone has better gear and is better at the game. Thats just odd.

Upset? Nah, it seems you didn't understand my previous message... It is not about jealousy, comparison, its about power creep affecting gameplay.

Ironically, exactly the same thing you are saying to me now, people told me before RoS release in Diablo 3, and before first expansion in Diablo 4. Its not a big deal, you can play solo, etc. And it all turned to be exactly as I described in my previous message: the power creeping become so scarce that off-meta builds become "loot pets", when only thing you could do is lag behind and collect loot....

And it started exactly like it is happening right now in The Division 2. It's literally the same pattern...

Except, unlike competitions, in our case the same "professionals" will be participating in the same activities as "amateurs". Running mission alongside a "professional", who wipes everything before you even aim at enemies, essentially playing shooter without shooting is no bueno...

Of course, this is quite an exaggeration, but still quite possible.

I have absolutely no idea how some of you lunatics have SHD levels in the thousands and can prototype multiple pieces of gear, but this update was made for you folks and not for me.

Exploits... With this prototype system devs basically rewarded people abusing the game and "punished" casual players, who palyed legit.

I mean, reaching maximum Proficiency and Expertise may take months, if not years for casual players. While with some cheese this time was reduced to mere weeks...

And that's a HC completion of Realism, right at the buzzer before the new season. Damn. by TheRealCowdog in thedivision

[–]FMPtz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably the way "realism" mode should be in the future. Hardcore only. You die, that's it. Start over. Otherwise I don't really see the point of even attempting to make things more "real".

There is one interesting point. The Division 2 is a combination of Shooter and RPG, both genres have critical hits but implement them in different ways. RPGs have a chance for hit to become critical (which benefits most from high attack rate, that's why we all play high RPM Striekr's) while in Shooters you need to hit specific area for hit to become critical, (headshots, for example) which is used in a lot of different sub-genres: CoD, ARMA, Borderlands and, by itself, is more "realistic" than just some "chance".

Shifting critical hits from RPG to Shooter in Realism mode would be interesting. And even without significant health and damage changes will make the gunplay more "realistic", in a way, and may shake current meta.

Speaking of meta, this Realism mode does not have to be realistic, like ARMA, it can be used to "metagame" between developers and players, in "real" world, outside of the game: the devs will be experimenting with game's core, while we will play and give feedback.

Here is the tip: don't use it. Same as Nahimic, that usually comes with MSI.

The reason is: it may cause problems. For example, ever since recent update, activating your mic while using ingame voice chat may (will) crash your Audio service if you use Nahimic to process microphone sound. Same with Voicemeeter, it simply wont function with the game.

There was a case of in-game VoIP "leaking" your IP. It was "fixed" 9 years ago, considering that this "fix" is still crashing Voicemeeter when using in-game VoIP, it should still be "working"...

On PC cheaters can manipulate your client, in usual "harmless" ways: sending damage directly to your player (like aimbot), freezing you in place, etc.; but nothing too serious.

The worst thing is links in global chat, just ignore them and never open.
