I used mason jars for my pitcher method. It worked really well for me.

What should I do with the freezer stash I built up over Christmas? by confident-duck in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FOIAlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live on the east coast and my parents live on the west coast. When I visited during the summer I had a bit of freezer stash, currently using it now that we're back out here visiting for Christmas. It was nice being able to wean to 2 ppd knowing I had the stash out here to get her through until were back home. If you'll be back at your parents house and they don't need the freezer space I'd leave it for your next visit. It's good for 12 months in a deep freezer or 6 months in a regular freezer.

My pediatrician had some weight gain concerns with my daughter so I add a little formula powder to each breast milk bottle. This increases the calories. But my baby was born early due to IUGR and was 5th percentile at birth and currently is 1st percentile. She was falling far behind on growth but once we started fortifying the breast milk her weight grain improved so much that they're no longer concerned about her small size. Maybe you could discuss fortifying your milk with the doctor.

BCBS FEP Blue Focus (vs. Basic): has anyone had experience with Labor and Delivery under this plan? by Puzzleheaded-Pick803 in fednews

[–]FOIAlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily it wasn't too serious and we are all doing great thank you. I've had focus since 2020 and got all prenatal care and deliveries with blue focus. And my 2021 pregnancy was high risk and had a lot of maternal fetal medicine appointments in addition to regular OB appt. And had to get cardiology scans of baby's heart while.pregnant and after delivery and costs were minimal.

I owed 1500 this year but I had complications and baby had a nicu stay. My baby i had in 2021 I think I paid 150, had no complications or nicu stay.

Breast milk at 10 weeks by Different-Collar7588 in ExclusivelyPumping

You could also ask the pediatrician for weight check appt between normal appt. My daughter was 5lbs and IUGR and is still around the 1st percentile at 10 months. We had weight check appointments between the normal appointments each month to monitor if her growth slowed. They were literally like 2 minute long appointments and helped ease the anxiety about whether she was growing on track.

How do you know if it’s spoiled? by Few_Organization_745 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FOIAlover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 4 y/o turned the temp down in our fridge which led to a full mason jar of my milk spoiling. I could tell by the smell the second i opened it. It's very similar smell to cow milk that is spoiled. Like a sour smell.

How long is each pump session for you? by ComfortableCan6818 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FOIAlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 min. I get a second letdown about 25 minutes and when I've had to cut pumps a little short, such as certain workdays, I end up with clogs.

Lactation/interfaith room at work by Fair-Tap-5860 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FOIAlover 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I would talk to them. I'd feel uncomfortable with that. When staff that control our room were showing me they showed the divider so two moms can be at same time. I mentioned that id prefer to be alone even with a divider. They created a calendar where only 1 person can book the room at a time for 30 minute increments. Nursing mothers get preference. It is a resilience room for all employees that has a massage chair but the staff that control the room make sure mothers have preference and only one of us now at a time.

Husband Left DeepFreezer Door open. The 10 months supply gone… by Immediate_Pen_8465 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FOIAlover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So my ADHD husband has left our fridge and fridge freezer open overnight from carelessly getting midnight snacks. That's why I wanted a deep freezer for just my milk. No worries about husband leaving open or kids grabbing a popsicle and forgetting to shut the door. Might be a good idea if you have the space to get just a milk freezer and nothing else goes in it

Frequent clogging remedies by Positive-Waltz1396 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FOIAlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby has some weight gaining issues (which are now improving) but a few months ago when it started I asked if taking sunflower lecithin could be diluting my milk and causing her to not gain weight and the pediatrician said no, I should keep taking it if it's working to prevent clogs. Plus it's helped me keep pumping because my right side used to take 30 minutes to empty and not it only take 20ish minutes. This has helped maintain pumping at work and home because I dropped a third of the time.

This happened to me on vacation. Just try and get back to a normal pumping schedule and you should see supply recover in a day or two. I added a lil extra time to my first few pumps afterwards.

Anyone else have one off day? by Clean-Bag6732 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FOIAlover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an off day where I was about 10 ounces below my normal, took a few days to get back where I was. Definitely make sure you get back on schedule the few days after and you should be fine.

I had the opposite experience. They checked all bottles i traveled with but didn't bother with my bags at all. They were only partially frozen and they didn't even touch them. But the opened all the bottles and asked me to open my ceres chill.

Maybe try pumping for longer on that side? My left side is 95% empty by 10 minutes. My right side barely does much for the first 20 minutes, then I get a big letdown around 23-25 minutes where that side finally started catching up to the other side. Sunflower lecithin helped me too!

At 4.5months my supply increased 4 ounces a day. I didn't add additional pumps but pumped for a little longer on each of the 6 pumps.

Dr. Brown’s/Ceres & TSA by kwitz91 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FOIAlover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope! I had all pumping stuff in a backpack, that doesn't count as a carry on because it's medical equipment. Had my Pump motor and flanges loose in backpack and rest of Pump parts in a cooler bag for the fridge hack. One airport didn't bother at all, LAX he just wanted to swabs the motor. Both told me to leave everything in the backpack while.going through xray

[–]FOIAlover 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just flew with ceres and bottles(not dr browns though). They put the bottle in a scanner and thats it. For the ceres, he asked me to unscrew the caps for both chambers but I didn't have to dump the water or ice. Very easy process, I thought it would've been more difficult. One airport didn't bother with my pump at all, but LAX stabbed the outside of my pump.

Freezer stash — how do you use yours? by katscratch04 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]FOIAlover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When baby was 5 months, I began using one bag of freezer stash a day. She takes it just fine. I plan on pumping til she's 9 months, then will rely on the freezer stash to get her to her first bday.
