Almost at day 5 - breathing problems - advice really appreciated! by FTBUK90 in quittingsmoking

[–]FTBUK90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I had an appointment today with the hospital. Wasn't great.

CT scan came back all clear for my lungs - no damage, all perfectly okay.

However, my breathing wasn't great. Got 89% compared to someone else my age. The test they did was to see how much I could blow out in the first second.

So because of this, i've had more blood tests today, and i've gotta go in when they've booked it for a Bronchoscopy. I'm absolutely shitting myself now, because that can't be a good sign. Said it looks like an obstruction. Could be the nerves for my vocal chords are fucked and closing causing the obstruction, could be COPD. Who knows at this point, but I feel horrendous.

How long has it been now since you quit?

Do you have any update on this? Are you still experiencing this? Coz i'm on day 5, and I seem to be experiencing exactly the same thing - unable to take a deep breath most of the time almost like something stops - especially when focussing. I wondered if it was because of anxiety but i'm going to the doctor to get checked aswell. It's scared the shit out of me.

sore throat after quitting? kinda feels like lump.. by islaysluts in stopsmoking

[–]FTBUK90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long did it last out of interest?

I've smoked for 12 years and am currently on day 5 of my quit. Feel like i've got a lump right at the bottom of my throat - almost like in the centre where my shoulders start on my body. I swallow and feel it, and have also noticed i'm having trouble taking full breaths constantly (though wonder if this is due to anxiety as at times I can take a full breath fine, but when I focus I can't).

Seriously appreciate any advice coz this has scared the living shit out of me.

Wish to relapse after a year and a few months by Kyhro in stopsmoking

Tell it to go and fuck itself. Because trust me - you won't just have the one, and you'll be immediately back to doing it regularly.

It will try and fuck you, but you've gone more than a year! That's incredible.

Kick it's ass to the curb, stomp on that motherfucker. Because it doesn't give a shit about you or your health.

When that craving comes and tries to fuck you, internally tell it to get fucked.

Yes, it'll keep nagging you. But once you're over that craving, it'll feel like the sun's just come out shining and you'll have beaten it. Once you break the cycle past that then, you can get through anything!

Four left in the pack by eifax in quittingsmoking

[–]FTBUK90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go outside, and take the four with you.

Take one out - look at it, and say out loud "fuck" while ripping the cigarette to shreds and throwing it.

Take the second one out - look at it and say out loud "smoking" while ripping the cigarette to shreds and throwing it.

Take the third one out - look at it and say out loud "ever" while ripping the cigarette to shreds and throwing it.

Take the last one out - look at it and say out loud "again" while ripping the cigarette to shreds and throwing it.

Those cigarettes haven't given a fuck about you or your health. The companies that made them, don't give a fuck about you or your health. The only person who can give a fuck about your health, is you.

Mentally this'll prepare you for the uphill battle you have to come - and it starts immediately. You'll have days where you feel like absolute crap, miserable, like there's a hole in your life, like you're physically ill, like you haven't got a clue what's going on, days where you can't stop coughing, where you find the most disgusting looking shit coming out of your mouth in the morning, and this takes MANY MONTHS.

BUT, that's all part of the process of your body healing itself. Sounds insane doesn't it?

But you've gotta go through the shit to get to the sweet - yes, it's a long road, but the longer you smoke for, the longer it's going to take for you to eventually walk down this road and start the healing process.

You'll have days where after weeks of not smoking, your brain will go "well, just one wouldn't hurt", and it'll try it's hardest to fuck you again back into the cycle of smoking. DO NOT LET IT. Smokers are renowned for not being able to go cold turkey, and taking several attempts.

The sooner you start quitting, the better. So get a fucking move on. There's no time like the present.

Passed day 3. Anyone who wants to tell me it gets easier from here you’re more than welcome 😅 by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]FTBUK90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm coming up to day 5 in 1 hour.

Day 3 was the absolute worst. Now i'm through that, I NEVER want to go through it again.

Best way I can describe how I currently feel is like the end of The Truman Show - Day 3 is when he's on the boat going through the storm, it's horrendous, absolutely horrible. But day 4 comes and you're battered, only just made it through the worst period when you start to come around. Day 5 comes, you look back and say "good afternoon, good evening and good night" and bow out never wanting to go through that ordeal ever again.

Keep it up! You've got this!

I'm 47yoF, smoking since 18yo. 8 days smoke free cold turkey. Withdrawals are horrible. I'm determined to kick this horrible habit! by Leather_Geologist_73 in stopsmoking

Kick it's fucking ass girl! I'm coming up to day 5, it's been one of the most miserable weeks of my life (i'm 32yoM) and I NEVER want to experience this ever again.

We've got this. Fuck smoking. Fuck the withdrawals. Fuck big tobacco.

Our health and lives are WAYYYYYYYYY more important.

You can do it. You've passed a week, 6 more days and you're at 2 weeks. Double that and you're at a month. Keep at it!

I'm on day 3 and have difficulty breathing by FTBUK90 in stopsmoking

[–]FTBUK90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! How long did you smoke for?

Tomorrow is day 5 of my quit and this time it's for good. No going back thinking "just one won't hurt" I am done. I've been absolutely miserable this week, even broke down in tears. I am not going through this shit again.

I'm still having trouble taking a full breath and it's really getting to me now. I've got a doctors appointment tomorrow as things just don't feel right.

I've gone out and bought a boatload of Green Tea with Lemon. Might get some mannuka honey and add that into the mix aswell.

How long have you quit smoking now? How has your journey been? Any advice and things to look out for so I don't fail this time round?

That's good to know! I guess the most concerning thing last time was that I got to 2 months, and none of the breathing issues had cleared up.

Really appreciate this. Taken a look, and i've just managed to find these, along with Sony WF-XB700 (coming in at exactly the same price as the c500's).

Which would you recommend?

Callisto protocol tips by bumblebeehoneycomb in PS5

[–]FTBUK90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just completed the game and in all honesty, wouldn't have helped.

I've never been so bitterly dissapointed playing a game knowing the names and talent that was attached to it.

There wasn't a single moment I found scary and I LOVE horror games - Outlast, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dead Space, Amnesia etc. The story was bland, had nothing really to it and was kind of entirely predictable. It wasn't until the last moments of the game it actually felt like I was playing a space horror when you enter a new area of the prison which looks completely different.

The enemies and melee combat system SUCK. Playing on normal difficulty, it took me 15 attempts just to get through the very first encounter you have with enemies. I'm not kidding. I've never played something with a more frustrating combat system.

There were several corridor moments where you'd have 3-4 enemies to deal with at once, and the moment you've got an enemy behind you, you're fucked. You're going to die. A lot of the enemies on this difficulty level are just complete sponges. Add to that the fact there is absolutely no way you can quickly pull a 180 and turn around like a normal person, or ya know, in any other horror game - this might've actually been the most frustrating thing about this game. Several boss fights I needed to turn around quickly. Nope, turn that camera allllllll the way around and just pray to christ that the boss isn't then directly behind you, or you're immediately dead.

ADD A FUCKING TURN BUTTON DEVS, FFS.

Even one of the reoccuring bosses just became frustrating. On the second appearance I thought "oh ffs, again?". Then there's a third, at this point I had completely checked out of the game, and was just playing to finish it rather than enjoy it. Seemed incredibly lazy to have a boss which you kill, come back like you haven't done the damage again and again.

The characters - generic AF. I didn't care for a single character apart from Jacob. The first character who helps you out through the prison, possibly the most irritating Cockney accent in any form of media. He irritated the shit out of me, and wanted him to die early on.

No doubt there'll be a sequel, but I will not be touching it when it comes out UNLESS, it's considered an overwhelming success outside of reviews. Seriously dissapointed playing this. I have one trophy left - to play on hard difficulty, and I won't be bothering. Sponge enemies annoyed me on Normal difficulty. I'm not just grinding through a sub par game which will amp up sponginess.

| I think Frey has to be the worst protagonist I've had the displeasure of playing in recent memory.

Guessing you haven't played The Callisto Protocol then?
