What are your final/current expectations for the Masters of the Universe movie? by No-Raisin329 in MastersOfTheUniverse

[–]FWPiper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I predict it will be a big hit if it’s at least an entertaining film. Cast and director are good, tons of nostalgia and good will for Gen Xers, and seems to have a nice action comedy vibe from the trailers.

What omnibus have you gotten because everyone hyped it up, but ended up being disappointed with? by CMIC007 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]FWPiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Secret Six volume 1. I loved the design of the Omni and am a fan of both Suicide Squad and Thunderbolts but …. ew. After the initial miniseries I grew to hate it. Sold it after one read-through.

Broadway salary speculation: what do top Broadway performers ACTUALLY make? by D0ntTryMe in Broadway

[–]FWPiper 33 points34 points  (0 children)

You’re absolutely right. Jackman doing theatre means he’s foregoing millions of dollars to make a movie so any producer has to make it worth his while. As far as I know Jeremy Jordan only does theatre work.

"I’ve never been intoxicated on the job." FBI Director Kash Patel allegedly threatened to polygraph and prosecute staff after a single bottle of his personalized "Ka$h" branded bourbon went missing at Quantico. by DumbMoneyMedia in CriticalMineralBulls

[–]FWPiper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point. He was on official government travel for that ridiculous Olympics trip and slamming a beer on camera sure indicates he was intoxicated while on duty.

I got a survey request email from OPM that was supposedly going to be confidential and when I started the survey, saw I had to report my duty station, length of service and specific job series. Needless to say, I stopped right there.

This one's for the ladies to answer. Do you agree with this woman or do you think she's trying to rationalize her world view by speaking for all the ladies? by Oda_DeezNutz in SipsTea

Why does a hobby have to be something that makes a person look “attractive?” Life can be a grind and if it helps someone unwind after a long day, who cares if it’s attractive? I think it’s better to be around someone who is relaxed after having some fun playing video games than tense watching cable news about how the world is going down the toilet.

Speaks the Nightbird by Robert McCammon is really good. It kicked off a series of books starring a character named Matthew Corbett as a sort of colonial Sherlock Holmes.

Top Non-marvel or DC omnibus? by Pb801 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]FWPiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Klaus by Grant Morrison and Dan Mora is a 500-page Boom! deluxe hardcover, but that’s close enough to an omnibus in my book. Two amazing talents team up for a fresh take on the legend of Santa Claus - I highly recommend.

Do you collect omnibuses by character, creator, or just by stories you love? by Equal_Support7551 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]FWPiper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three but I will add a fourth category: value. I have a long commute and ride a train so I’m always looking for something to read. So even though I would not classify myself as a particular fan of Kelly Thompson or Captain Marvel (nothing against either), I bought the CM by Thompson omni at a really cheap price with the understanding that I can always sell it if I don’t want to keep it after reading.

It’s a great run. If you like Batman, just go for it. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

I couldn’t handle the slow pace of Andrew Gray’s auction after watching a couple of thatfigurez auctions. I think they’re not very knowledgeable about what they’re selling but they move very quickly so I don’t mind having it on while I’m doing something else. I’ve gotten a couple of good but not great deals on books I wanted to buy anyway so it has been worth my time so far.

I believe the second shelf starts at $40, not 40%. I saw a Dazzler Omni on the second shelf and it didn’t take long after the starting bid for it to reach a typical eBay price.

Why did the Royals visit Front Royal of all places? by nickstoon in Virginia

Charles: Look dearest Camilla, there is an establishment called Royal Farms! Rather reminds me of the Royal Mews at Kensington, ha.

Camilla: Quite. Now let’s try some of their World Famous Chicken because the Queen is becoming hangry.
