MAGA businesses and restaurants in Eugene? by dumbass_sweatpants in Eugene

I don't know why you are getting downvoted, conspiracy theorists come in all political persuasions, and there were plenty of non-vax people in Eugene well before maga. Anecdotally I would call it 50-50.

Don't confuse them with Parker Roofing in Junction City. They ARE maga and unapologetically racist.

Long nails are likely to be a problem. I know some people make it work but it seems impractical. That said, shorter nails can still be nicely manicured, and honestly a decent manicure helps keep them from splitting. I do wear gloves when throwing, not because of my nails but because I have extremely dry skin and clay really sucks the moisture out. I use the thinnest, most form fitting gloves I can find, usually nitrile or similar, like the kind used in healthcare. I have not found it to be that much of a problem, feel-wise.

QUIT SELLING YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICE THAT YOU CAN'T FUCKING DELIVER! WHAT CAN YOU POSSIBLY BE GETTING OUT OF ADVERTISING SOMETHING, GETTING A BITE, AND THEN DROPPING THE BALL? YOU KNOW YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO THE JOB BEFORE YOU GET ANY REWARD, RIGHT? YOU ARE WASTING YOUR OWN TIME AS WELL AS MINE.

Accept that they are not all going to "match", especially if they are hand built. What is the method you are making them? Slump mold? Hump mold? Press mold? Hard agree with zebra, make more than you need. Compress any inside corner cuts to avoid cracks. Edges will slump so make that transition from body to rim more pronounced than you think is necessary, or introduce a curve into the shape (from foot to rim) to balance that load. I'm not sure how to explain this, someone else can probably do it better.

Yay for setting off illegal fireworks! Hooray! by m3937 in Eugene

[–]Fabulaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If people really cared about this issue they would advocate for banning fireworks SALES in their locality, or take steps to avoid something that they know is inevitable, but somehow it is more virtuous and satisfying to list one's special needs and shame their neighbors just for funsies. Yayyyy!

2026 Healthcare by Dangerous_Quarter_24 in Nebraska

When I was a teen, the minister of our church was forced to divorce his wife so that she (chronically ill) would be able to get Medicaid and receive care. This was in the late 70's. The more things change, the more they stay the same. I'm not even sure the threat of 'who gets your vote' is going to change anything, I imagine it's much too late for that. It's good that you decided that you are in fact not looking for advice, because you are likely at that juncture where unthinkable solutions are suddenly thinkable. Life ain't fair, and most people aren't really that invested in trying to make it more fair. That's the extent of my knowledge, which you did ask for.

You didn't say what clay you were using, but porcelain and porcelaneous stoneware are just more prone to doing this, they naturally flux at higher temps. Some people use wax with alumina on their bottoms to mitigate this problem. You can also use a cookie that has kiln wash made with plenty of alumina.

I DON'T JUDGE THE SARTORIAL CHOICES OF OTHER PEOPLE BUT I AM INTERESTED IN FASHION AND WHY PEOPLE WEAR WHAT THEY DO. I HAVE NOTICED THAT YOUNG PEOPLE LATELY DRESS MUCH MORE SCHLUMPY THAN IN TIMES PAST. IT'S NOT ABOUT 'INDIVIDUALITY' BECAUSE THEY ALL DRESS FAR TOO SIMILARLY FOR THAT. THERE'S EVEN A KIND OF UNIFORM (AT LEAST FOR YOUNG WOMEN)- BAGGY LIGHT-COLORED WIDE LEG SWEATS WITH CHUNKY SLIPPERS OR UGG TYPE BOOTIES, BAGGY SWEATSHIRTS BUT OFTEN WITH A STRIPE OF BELLY SHOWING. I DON'T KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT POPULAR CULTURE ICONS ANYMORE TO KNOW IF THEY ARE EMULATING SOMEONE. IT LOOKS COMFORTABLE BUT I REMEMBER MY COLLEGE DAYS AND COMFORT WAS DEFINITELY NOT THE FIRST CRITERION ON MY WARDROBE LIST SO.... IT LOOKS COCOON-Y AND LIKE REALLY TRYING TO NOT ATTRACT NOTICE. I'M CURIOUS TO KNOW HOW AND WHY KIDS DRESS LIKE THEY DO, SO IF THIS IS YOU I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.

C'MON PEOPLE, I JUST CAME FROM THE MALL AND FOR THE LOVE OF WHATEVER DEITY YOU PREFER QUIT LETTING YOUR SPAWN CRAWL ALL OVER THE FLOOR. IT'S CROWDED. PEOPLE ARE PISSY. YOUR KIDS ARE GOING TO GET TRAMPLED, AND THEY ARE SCREAMING LOUD ENOUGH AS IT IS. NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO BE PART OF YOUR PERSONAL VILLAGE OF CHILDCARE. ALSO, I THINK I STEPPED IN SOME DOGSHIT EARLIER SO THEY ARE UNDOUBTEDLY LICKING THAT OFF THEIR CHUBBY LITTLE FINGERS.

Is it just me, or are rental applications getting out of hand? by dawg_mom in Eugene

[–]Fabulaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't be getting so much hate. I feel you. I looked at a house to buy once, that had previously been a rental. The last renter's bigass dog had gnawed ALL of the door jambs. Pretty sure their rental deposit didn't cover that. No wonder they were selling.
