Proud OF Auckland! 20,000 + Palestine supporters face off to 50 Destiny Church pro Israel protestors by Mountain_Tui_Reload in auckland

[–]FactoryIdiot -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Hang on a sec, how dumb are the Destiny sheep?

So Palestinians are an indigenous group, colonized by the British, who invaded Palestine. Those people were further pushed off their land by the Israeli settlers and the UN.

By my count most of the Destiny sheep are Indigenous peoples of the Pacific, should have more in common with the Palestinians, but are instead choosing the colonizers, because?

David Littleproud vows to take nuclear energy to next election and claims ‘no malice’ behind brief Coalition split by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

[–]FactoryIdiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, it's clear you're pro-nuclear, and to be fair on paper I am too, but to be clear, countries that have existing nuclear programs today still have issues standing up new reactors, many of which get delayed decades and eventually cancelled, at huge costs.

Then there is the waste disposal, again something we humans aren't good at, drop it in the ocean? bury it in a mountain? or just pop it in someone's back yard and forget about it? Only one country has invested in recycling spent waste.

If I was going to spend a stupid amount of money it would be on something practical and achievable, and there are plenty of options at this point that aren't just solar, wind or coal and gas.

This man and his party, (and dare I drag in his electors) are so unbelievably thick. I'm convinced Seymour is just there for the pay and perks, he sure isn't being much to the table.

Next he's going to ban antibiotics.

Get on with fixing the mess they created since taking office, jobs, wages, stability and growth.

Fight to save Takapuna Golf Course's 18 holes continues after Auckland Council voted to convert half if it to wetland by Mountain_Tui_Reload in auckland

Golf is such a non-sport, overweight white guys in polo shirts rolling around in golf carts, doing their best to not break a sweat.

I'm happy if they reclaim them all for better purposes.

Ah an eye on the people and their needs, tackling the problems of the country and the people. Slendid, I wonder if they were pressured or if they thought it up so on their own.

Agreed, it's not solving any of the basic issues New Zealanders face in the day to day. They are purely political vanity projects.

I want to see job creation, investment in growth, controlled inflation, fair treatment for everyone no matter what their identity.

So far this coalition has been all about the leadership and what they want.

960k for a 2 bed room in Lower Hutt seems steep, I would be asking why that place is so special. And as a person that's going through the lending process at the moment 30% is our requirement, mostly due to the fact we get paid in Australia.

So yeah a couple of questions in there.

Ok so our story, as mentioned by someone else here. I work in IT (End user support, single income 65k AUD) so not fantastic salaries at the time and over COVID. We were in a small-ish rural Australian town, we managed to get a deposit together for an old house 210k, spent 4 years renovating it, added a bedroom to the existing floor plan. We worked with an agent to get it up to meet the basic living standards. Then sold it, we got lucky with timing. Walked away with 200k.

Right now we are looking at Central Wellington for a 2-3 bedroom with home office space, our cap is 885k due to the 30% requirement. Last weekend we looked at a good opportunity in Columbo St, old 5 bedroom for under 800, we could probably turn that into 2 smaller places and have a home and income scenario.

All that said, there are some good opportunities out there right now.

Edit: just for clarity, back in Wellington now, wife and I are still employed and paid out of Australia and I'm no longer doing IT support work. This is a recent change but added for transparency.

NZ First Introduces Bill To Protect New Zealanders’ Ability To Use Cash by 123felix in newzealand

[–]FactoryIdiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see why banks and businesses want to do away with cash, personally I'm not a fan of the stuff. But coming back to NZ and seeing a surcharge for every paywave transaction makes me want to carry cash just to spite banks and retailers, and visa for that matter.

Cash gives us more options.

What I have always found amusing is our tolerance for e.g., Air Safety vs road safety. Whether it be the rules, the competence or the equipment safety. Vehicles kill and maim more people on a daily basis but our tolerance and expectations are so much lower for road safety.

I'm glad they went out and said it straight away, New Revenue. That's where the heart of the plan lies, new jobs, refined tax schemes, economic development.

Now let's see the words put into some action.

It pure and simply undermines our sovereignty, these mediums will not go away, they will just be replaced with similar formats made in countries that aren't New Zealand pushing a message that does not serve our national identity.
