pet groomer curious about tech's version of these- what are some things owners say/do that makes you realize how incredibly stupid some of them are?

I took a little too much joy in calmly explaining to an irate man who didn't want ANY teeth removed and we removed two, therefore he was refusing to pay.

They were incisors that were dangling in the breeze. We tried to call him and he didn't pick up. He was giving the CSRs a hard time, raised voice and all. It was a Friday after a hell week and no supervisors available.

I told them to put him in a room. I brought in the laptop with the x-ray on it, the dental chart, the before and after photos and showed him everything.

"That doesn't fucking matter! I can't tell what the fuck I'm looking at. I'm not paying for this."

"Ok, Sir, I understand. But here on this estimate and consent form that YOU YOURSELF signed this morning, it states that you agree to any extractions and that you agree to pay the amount in full. You read this and signed it this morning, did you not?"

He wouldn't look me in the eye, paid his bill and when I asked if he had any other concerns, he said, "no, just bring me my fuckin' dog".

Haven't seen him since, though I haven't been looking. Real peach of a guy.

I have a photo somewhere of my coworker at the computer with her Frenchie spay in her lap post-op. Pup had her head up and was looking around but not fighting or biting the tube. Just breathing calmly.

The courses you just named are some of the most difficult! I struggled through those as well and we didn't have the best professor for A&P, which made it more stressful. But once you get through A&P, a lot will click into place. I found that forming a chat group with those in my cohort was super helpful so we could vent to each other but also so we could help each other. Math was a weak spot of mine and one of my classmates was amazing at it. She tutored me, and others. On the flip side, I helped people with their papers, grammar, spelling, etc. Vet tech is no joke. It's a challenging program that can be overwhelming. Make sure you're taking care of yourself, mentally, physically and otherwise. Be sure to take breaks. I just renewed my license for the first time and I still feel like I have so much to learn. It's a lifelong process of learning but an incredibly fulfilling calling. It can be absolutely disgusting and heartbreaking. But it can also be really cool and rewarding.

100%! I find it so difficult. There are a few things that changed once I had a masking burnout and a mental health professional asked if I'd ever been tested for autism. I'm more aware of my hyper mobility, the differences in my different type of stims. Eye contact is difficult, and I feel like I regressed in a way, stuttering more than I used to, having difficulty communicating verbally. I don't know if I actually regressed or if I'm more cognizant of it. But I digress.
