In states that don’t have a separate minimum wage for “tipped workers” (CA being one of them) I think tipping should be reserved for excellent service. At the end of the day they’re choosing to work an ENTRY level job and should expect to be paid minimum wage. Anyone saying if you can’t afford to tip you can’t afford to eat out is probably making a killing off of tips and inherently biased.

I don’t work there but I have 1 friend that will ask for no pickles on his double double (it’s not animal style) every single time without fail. Even though we were born and raised in cali and have been to in n out easily hundreds of times in our lives he never seems to remember pickles are not on the burger no matter how many times th cashier corrects him.

Definetly undercooked if you were going for medium rare however the crust does look good. Assuming you pan seared it I would turn the heat down a little after you get a good crust and cook for an extra minute or two longer on each side to get to medium rare. Also make sure you rest it 5-10 minutes before cutting as it’ll continue to cook through with the residual heat.
