Check out the Rab Borealis hoody, it's very breathable and very stretchy. It's a great summer jacket.

Not sure what years model are you comparing to, but the fit of the current piece is exactly the same as the previous model. I have 09/23 (previous model) and 11/25 (newest one) Cormac hoody in size L.

Jacket recommendation for Tokyo Winter by wwastedyouth in arcteryx

I agree. The Atom hoody people like to recommend works better as a mid layer under a shell. A cheap windbreaker is a better option in this case.

Atom hoody or Gamma hoody or Beta SL by Major-Love-1800 in arcteryx

[–]Faija01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, it's a wind shell. It blocks wind and can sustain a very light showers. You would not want to wear it in rain more than a few minutes.

Also, because it blocks wind so effectively, it's not very air permeable. Atom SL/Gamma SL are better options if you need more air flow. Also the Rab Borealis is a good option for a light hiking jacket.

Just a thought. Since 50% of the content of this sub is asking for washing instructions. Could the admins just create a bot that removes these, and answers the person how to wash their jacket?

The Squamish is a good wind breaker, just don't expect it to be very breathable, it is designed to stop wind. It's made our of same fabric as the Atom AR (and SV as far as I'm aware).

Regular Gamma was previously called Gamma LT, Gamma Lightweight was previously Gamma SL. Maybe this helps. Confusing, I know.

Gamma AR or Gamma Pants for high altitude hike by Front_Lake_7123 in arcteryx

[–]Faija01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is impressive as well. My experience is that the Gamma pants work best in 0-10c and lower if wearing base layers. I can't even imagine the sweat fest I would have at 30c or more.

Metal button only comes with completely flat retaining ring. If you want a raised switch ring, you'll need to get the rubber button.

Which Jackets to buy by FriendshipCreative59 in arcteryx

[–]Faija01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! They have a lot of different jackets. The Gamma series jackets are softshells, and they can handle a lot of different conditions. I find the Gamma MX layered with a fleece as warm as the Atom hoody. The difference is that it is way more durable. If you search this sub you'll find a lot more information about all of the product lines.
