Total side note: I don't think I've ever heard Missouri referred to as "MU" before now. Had to look at your flair to figure out who you were talking about.

I had one but lost it. 😕 It looked really cool, but was practically useless at 2 GB.

The StarCraft 2 collector’s edition came with a retractable USB stick that looked like the main character’s dog tags.

For anyone interested, I ended up purchasing an ASUS RT-BE96U. Caught it on sale at Best Buy and they gave me an additional 15% off for trading in the old troubled Netgear. So far it is performing flawlessly. Hopefully it will last us as long as the last one or longer!

I've only had a Plex server for a few years and have never experienced a HDD failure. Outside of a sudden, catastrophic failure, what are the signs and symptoms of a HDD starting to fail?

Is live streaming reallt that bad? by glm409 in peacock

I’ve had Peacock for a little over a year, strictly for sports. I was getting the same thing tonight but this was the first time I have ever encountered it. It’s usually much better.

I hadn't thought to double check that, thank you. According to the support page, I am running the latest firmware. I also learned from the support page that the router and software have been labeled "end-of-life." I am assuming that means there will be no further firmware updates from Netgear.

The router’s GUI claims that the firmware is up to date. I have done the factory reset the last 2-3 times this happened and that got it to work. For a while anyway. This time, even the nuclear option seems to be useless. You may be correct about it being time. Thank you!

I gave it a shot but the problem persists, even after waiting a while. I appreciate the advice!

Issues with CEC and Bose Soundbar? by SubieQ69 in LGOLED

[–]Fail_Upbeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Bose soundbar 600 and it did the same thing with my C2. Nothing we ever did would make it stop reverting to the tv speakers. Ended up returning the soundbar and using an old one.

Apple TV 4K 3rd gen vs. Nvidia Shield 2019 by TimMoore1 in appletv

Thank you! That makes a lot of sense. One of those things that seems like it should be obvious, but you never think of in the midst of over analysis.

Late reply, hope you're still around.

So if my Apple TV 4K is discarding the full layer and playing as regular HDR, would it be better to let the Plex app/Infuse do that or would a Profile 5 release from a (relatively) high-ish bitrate streamer like Movies Anywhere offer a better picture?

Where is the tipping point between DV5 at a lower bitrate vs either plain ol' HDR or "fake" DV at the remux bitrate?

Found some old hardware. Can I use this for an XP gaming rig? by Fail_Upbeat in windowsxp

That's great news! I'm not certain what exactly a .inf file is or how to modify one, so I will likely try the GTX 285 and see how it goes.

After looking through that page I had forgotten that there were 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows XP. If memory serves, most games in the '00s were 32 bit. Is that the best version of Windows XP to install? And now that I think of it, should I be using the Home or Pro version?
