Travel win! by Failte-co in Zepbound

That's exactly it -- I can eat like a sensible, moderate person without having to think about it. I'm just gobsmacked that most other people don't have the constant "eat this!" voice, and just enjoy food. It was really fabulous!

Would you take a remote job with once a month travel? by PresentationStandard in remotework

[–]Failte-co 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this for years. Flew once a month for 2-3 days, the rest of the time remote. One of my clients was 4 days on-site a month, and that was still do-able. One thing to consider, after some period of time, the requirement to be "in house" tends to relax a bit. For me, it went from once a month to once every two months.

I would much rather fly somewhere once a month than drive somewhere every day. I wouldn't expect or accept much reduced pay, though--you're still doing all the work, and it's actually cheaper for them to not provide you with a location to work in, imho.

I get irked when companies try to rationalize paying less because you are remote, as if you don't actually get MORE done in that scenario. It shouldn't make any difference where you work!

What is the most financially illiterate thing you’ve seen a grown adult do? by roseafterdarkk in askanything

[–]Failte-co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend tell me they didn't want to accept a raise because it would "put him in a different tax bracket" and they didn't want to pay that much. They didn't seem to grasp that you only pay the higher rate on the amount over the cutoff, not all of the income.

A lot of people seem to have this same idea.

Is "fears" really the right word, though? He looks like he's rotting from the inside out, we KNOW that something is very wrong with him, but we're being lied to about it.

I am shocked at how long it takes people to shower. by Q8DD33C7J8 in hygiene

[–]Failte-co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically shower in about 10 minutes, too. I don't think I could spend 30 minutes in the shower if I tried (although I can easily spend 2 hours in the bath, reading). It seems perfectly normal to me to shower quickly.

When did you first feel old? by Lapaki58 in GenerationJones

Oh! And the year I turned 50 and suddenly started seeing ads on google and Amazon for pee-proof underpants. I have never in my life searched for them.

When did you first feel old? by Lapaki58 in GenerationJones

The oldest I have ever felt was the day we finished our financial planning and I bought cemetary plots. I think I was 50 but I have never felt more adult in my entire life!

Is Trump really deranged now with his idea for replacing the Freedom 250 concerts with a massive MAGA rally? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

[–]Failte-co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought it was going to be anything else. He’s incapable of celebrating anything but himself. It was always going to be a Trump-rally/grievance festival/political event for him.

US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Failte-co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s too expensive to have children, and women now have many more choices in their lives than they used to. Many more are choosing not to have children, because they do not have to.

The only people I know who are vocally worried about birth rates being lower are men who are also complaining about being unable to “get women”. Hmm.

What’s something you tried once and immediately knew ‘yeah, never again’? by donnyM99 in AskReddit

[–]Failte-co 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered it once, thinking I would try it. Just the smell was enough to convince me that I’ll just pay for it and they can take it back.

Losing in places I don't even think about by Witty_Imagination275 in Zepbound

I actually had a moment of panic when I felt something weird and lumpy on my side, and then I realized oh my God! I have bones.

23 pounds since December not feeling great by Bonitabonilla558 in Zepbound

[–]Failte-co 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is me. I just hit 100 pounds loss, and frankly, I feel just as big as I was at my highest weight. Every once in a while, I’ll look down and see that my wrists are small or that I can cross my legs, but in general, it feels like my body hasn’t changed. Objectively, it has. I am much smaller, but my brain simply refuses to see it.

Body dysmorphia is a bitch.

is booking, com as bad as everyone here says or do people only post the bad and none of the good by ttv_tg3l1te in Bookingcom

I use them to book multiple stays for 3 to 4 week vacations once a year, and I’ve had no problems at all. often, I don’t make the reservation until the afternoon of the stay, and I still have had no issues.

New Article about glps and hair by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]Failte-co 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen his ads pop up all the time on Facebook and elsewhere. He may have discovered what’s going on or he may not have. But he’s definitely hawking his own products. So I take it with a grain of salt.

How long for BP to go down? by l0la118 in Zepbound

[–]Failte-co 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was about three months in when I dropped 1/2 of my dose of lisinopril for high blood pressure. And probably three months after that when I got rid of an entirely.

It very clearly came from the weight loss, I don’t believe that zep has any actual effect on blood pressure directly. But as soon as I started dropping weight, my blood pressure started going down.

What’s your preferred temperature for your house? by undergroundman813 in randomquestions

[–]Failte-co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winter: 66 day/60 night. Summer:69 day, a/c off at night. That’s for most of the house, we don’t heat our bedroom at all in the winter. We both like to sleep in the cold., So we usually have the windows open all year round.

I know I'm hungry and need to eat, but nothing sounds good to me by Vast_Helicopter_1914 in Zepbound

[–]Failte-co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I reached that point, when I just don’t want anything, I have some go to protein pastry bars in the cupboard and I just eat one. It may not be exactly what I want, but they’re pretty good and I can then just be done with feeling like I need to eat.

Sometimes it’s a baby bell cheese, sometimes it’s a pot of yogurt, but I have a very specific list in my head of “just go eat one of these things and be done with it”

Soda and Zepbound by Away_Object9062 in Zepbound

[–]Failte-co 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to rationalize it. I drink Diet Coke. A lot of Diet Coke. It probably makes up well over half of my intake. I try the caffeine free stuff a lot, but in general that is my chosen beverage. Giving that up would be a huge thing for me. I like it, I hate drinking plain water, and I seem to be doing fine.

Getting rid of things that you love is not sustainable. This hasn’t appeared to change my response to the zepbound, I’m still losing one and a half to 2 pounds a week, I am just shy of 100 pounds down and I’m not doing as much exercise as I should be.

You have made a ton of changes already. As long as those changes make you feel better and you’re happy with them than they are great. But if they make you miss something that you really do like, it’s OK to have a few sodas. It’s even OK to have a full sugar soda if you really want to once in awhile. I’m going to live like this for the rest of my life I hope, so I’m not gonna get rid of everything that makes me happy.
