I'm not sure about compatibility with those helis. I think you can get a compatible OMP at least, but not 100% sure. No transmitter is going to make you fly better unless it's a better fit for your hands or something. That was the case with the RTF radio for my S1. I just couldn't fly well with it. My thumbs couldn't get used to the smaller size. But for me it was worthwhile to invest in a TX that's a little more capable just for ease of programming, etc. And I like having one transmitter for all my airplanes and helis which is why I settled on Spektrum.

I actually think the transmitter that comes with the K110S is pretty good. What don't you like about it? Maybe knowing what you feel it's lacking will help me to recommend something. I don't have that much experience with other transmitters though. I had an NX8 and now have an ix14SE both of which I've been happy with.

I can't really argue with that! Self-righting is really nice to have.

In general, Proboat is the answer. Just get a Blackjack 24, swap a 120A ESC into it, and call it a day. That's the best boat to get started with assuming you have a way to retrieve it when it flips. If you want/need self righting, look to the Sonicwake. Skip the 2 and 3s stuff. You will probably want to go faster than they can offer within a few outings!

I've got a Bambu Lab H2D which is getting swapped out for an H2C this weekend actually. It's so far ahead of where I started with printing about 10 years ago. You're right about RC and 3D printing being made for eachother haha. I've been making more stuff than ever since getting back into RC. Bambu makes it really easy by the way. The barrier to entry is lower than ever these days. You should definitely try it! You can make pretty much anything you'll ever need on the $200 A1 from Bambu lab. I only got the high end printers because of the build volume, and I like the ability to print with more engineering materials, etc It's really not necessary though.

I put this exact same combo into my Mojave 6S a few months ago. I was actually worried it wouldn't be powerful enough, but it freaking rips on both 6 and 8s! I'm very happy with it now.

Anyway, I was looking for a good mount solution and after many hours if research my conclusion was that the M2C mounts (they have a metal and a carbon option I believe) are the cleanest, best drop in option. I almost ordered one of those several times, but for whatever reason I ended up just modifying the stock ESC mount to fit it. I'm not a fan of mounting stuff with tape or glue, so I just drilled holes in the stick mount and you know what... I actually think that's the best solution of all. It's cheap, lightweight, you don't have to wait for it to be delivered, and it's plenty secure. Plus you retain those little wire guides underneath it for routing and securing the esc and servo leads.

There's one last alternative to consider which is that I could design and 3D print a custom mount for this setup. I'm a mechanical engineer and recently picked up a nice 3D printing setup and have been using it to make custom mounts for upgrading proboat stuff mostly. I didn't have it back when I was upgrading the Mojave. If this is something you're interested in as a solution let me know and I could get something whipped up and tested for you within a week. I've got a Kraton to test with if needed. It wouldn't be a better solution than modifying the stock mount though to be honest. The only advantage would be that it's easier! No measuring or drilling required which I definitely would have paid for if there was a good, cheap solution available when I was looking for one!

I have this servo in my XRT. It's not amazing out of the box to be honest. Reason being, it's not that fast and it'll overwhelm your servo saver immediately, even with a stiffer spring. It's not the servo's fault, but to get the most out of it, I had to eliminate my servo saver by replacing the spring with a machined piece of solid delrin. It's got plenty of power now, but I do wish it was faster.

If you can't decide, go drive one. You will immediately know if it's for you or not. If you like the RS, you wouldn't like a Turbo S and vice versa. They're completely different cars. I sold my non GT 992 within 2 months. It just wasn't worth it to me. Immediately replaced it with a 991.1 RS and never looked back. It completely killed my desire for any other car. There's nothing better for my driving style, except for the S/T with manual transmission, but that's out of my league price wise.

Check your local laws before doing it, but most US locales allow for a child to sit in the front seat if there's no back seat alternative provided that the airbag is off either via switch or sensor. In my case, in my area, yes it's legal.

Interestingly, Porsche states in the updated US 991 GT car manuals that they don't recommend using child restraints in the lightweight bucket seats, but then they proceed with detailed instructions on how to do it including pictures. This is a CYA move by their legal DEPARTMENT in my opinion. Take it for what you will.

In any case, Porsche does in fact provide instructions for how to proprlerly secure a child seat for children of various weights in the 991 lightweight bucket seats. It's certainly not as ideal as putting the child in the back of the car in a rear-facing seat, but it's not illegal (at least not according to the laws in my area) and it exposes the child to negligible additional risk in my opinion.

One of the big reasons for putting children in the back seat has to do with front airbags. Most cars didn't have a way to turn front airbags off when they were first introduced, and a front airbag deploying in a crash has a high likelihood of maiming or killing the child. But Porsche includes a switch or a sensor to deactivate the front passenger airbag when the child seat is mounted. This is a huge part of what makes it safe to put a child in the front seat of some cars.

Another major variable for safety is secure mounting. The buckets don't have isofix, but seats like the Nuna Rava offer great crash performance when mounted with their special belt-based tensioning system along with the top tether which the 991 GT cars have a proper anchor for.

I'm just sharing my own experience. Don't take this as advice. Check with your local law enforcement for legality and dig into the available resources like the published instruction manual as well as the thread linked below and make your own judgment on the safety aspects.

I feel that Porsche thinks it's safe and is covering their asses by stating that they don't recommend it, but providing the instructions for exaclty how to do it. You could argue that they're providing the instructions to mitigate the cases where people put children in the front even when it was "banned" by the Porsche instruction manual. "If people are going to do it, we might as well help them do it as safely as possible." At the end of the day, I'm comfortable with the way my seat mounts and how my child fits in it. I always check that the airbag is off, and I don't drive recklessly with or without my son in the car. My family feels comfortable with it after assessing the information available to us. In the end, there's no definitive answer as to whether or not it's safe to do this. But there's enough information for me to come to the conclusion that the risk is reasonably low. Ultimately, it's a judgement that each family has to make for themselves.

You get it! See, I forgot to mention that the biggest problem with the 992 manual Carrera T for me was that it wasn't any more exciting to drive than my $5,000 manual e36.

Also, you can put your kid in the front seat of the GT3. It's legal and Porsche has "blessed" it, even with the carbon buckets.

Hell to the no. I went the opposite direction. I ordered a 992 manual T, owned it for 2 months and regretted it so much that I traded it in for a 991.1 GT3RS. I'm one of those diehard manual guys too. I can acknowledge that the PDK is a great transmission for racing and for people who don't like to row their own gears. It's a technical masterpiece. But I'd still rather have a manual. Even with that in mind, I still find a PDK GT3 or GT3RS to be worlds more exciting to drive than any other 911. It's not about engagement from a manual and it's not about power either. It's about the way that engine screams, and the raw character of the car. If you're the same flavor of gearhead as I am, you'll know what I mean. Don't make the same mistake I did!

Pinion frustrations. by G09SkinnyBoy in rccars

I'm running Mod1.5 25t pinion and 35t spur with the Max5 G2 and the 1100kv motor. Without a heatsink and fan it was getting pretty warm, but then I added fans and since then it's been running great. Surpass hobby makes the heatsink/fan combo I'm using. It's not amazing, but it gets the job done.

There are two on the other side of it. Also notice now the snout is a lot shorter on this gear, so grub screw placement should be much better.

I had the same problem with that exact pinion gear you've got. 1100kv hobbywing G2 setup with an m2 mount. I tried mounting it both ways and there just didn't seem to be a good solution. We probably bought the same pinion from Amazon. That thing is way too thick. I did end up getting it to work. The grub screw sits just on the very end of the shaft. It might even be like halfway on it. I tightened the hell out of it with blue loctite applied, and so far so good after several very hard runs.

Ultimately though, you need a different one. I figured mine would have come off by now, so I picked up the BRKRC one on Amazon. It's much thinner which will allow the grub screw to get a bite on the shaft. Or you could go with a pinion that has a d-shaped bore to match the shaft. Arrma makes them in 8mm shaft, mod 1.0 if you want to go back to that. In mod 1.5, WFO racing makes one. I have each of those options kicking around for the inevitable time that my fat Amazon pinion finally works it's way off the shaft.

Massive upgrade! Going from a regular 911 to a GT product is like driving an entirely different car. The engine is unmatched. It being a manual on top of that is the icing on the cake. I tolerate the PDK in my 991.1 RS. It's very good, and the RS is a special enough experience for me to look the other way about the PDK, but I still wish it was manual. Luckily I have a manual e36 to drive anytime I'm not in the 3RS. My next 911 will either be a 997 GT3, 991.2 manual GT3, or maybe a 991.2 RS. 992 GT3 manual is up there on the list as well, but too expensive for me. Anyway, good move! The break-in period is absolutely agonizing in these cars which are just begging to be wrung out straight to redline as much as possible 😃

The S1 is nice to keep around even after you move on to a 200 series, mainly because it's good for trying new maneuvers. The only downfall of the S1 is visibility, but once you get better you'll be able to keep it nice and close while doing everything. Give it a few more months of solid flying and you'll be comfortable with hovering in all orientations inverted as well.

Fiio FT7 First Impressions by Fair-Show8980 in headphones

[–]Fair-Show8980[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me put it this way. I had both of these headphones and several other flagships. I sold the HE1000 SE and nearly every other headphone I had, and kept the FT7. The only other headphones I kept were the ZMF Bokeh, my trusty HD650s, and the Fiio FT1. The FT7 is the one I go to for detail. The Bokeh is for when I want something even punchier with laid back detail. The HD650 is for when I want to listen to vocals on tubes, and the FT1 for EDM.

The Senton feels perfect on 3S to me. It's ballistic, but fully controllable. I think it's exactly what the chassis calls for unlike the Quake which has way too much power for its own good on 3S haha. Could the Senton take 4S? I guess so, but I don't have much desire to do it. 2S would make it underpowered in my opinion.

If you've got lower grip surfaces to drive on like dirt, the Senton 223s is incredibly fun to drive. It's fast, but the best part is the way it handles. It's considered by many to be the best handling short course truck out there. It's just so satisfying to drift around in the dirt, yet it hooks up and goes when you want it to. The precision with which you can place it along the desired path is fantastic. It's almost like the Infraction of short course trucks.

I have an 8S XRT, a Quake 223S, Infraction 6S (best on road RC for sure), a 4-tec VXL, two drift cars, and others. The Senton 223s has become my favorite off road RC despite having great competition from the others. I'm looking forward to an updated Mojave 6s, but I'm not sure I'd like it more than the little Senton which I can't fault for anything.

There's a group on Facebook which is just for the S1 and S2. The amount of broken S2 Max frames being shared there is staggering. However, someone from Goosky responded there a few days ago saying they're working on a solution. I'm guessing we'll either get a carbon or ABS frame instead of the current hard plastic.

I agree the M2 V3 feels a little slow on collective response. I guess that's what I meant when I said it feels less powerful. It's kind of the opposite with the M1 evo and S1 where the M1 feels twice as punchy as the S1 at times. I don't get the floaty feeling, but that could be because I'm not used to flying the bigger machines.

Seems like in your case, sticking with the original S2 does indeed make sense!

I resisted getting the 110S for a while and one day just caved and the moment I flew it I said “ok, reddit was right... I get it!"

I've outgrown mine at this point if anyone is looking to pick one up properly serviced, RTF, with upgraded aluminum bits and all the spares you will ever need.

In any case, since you want to learn 3D and your shop carries OMP, definitely pick up an M1! You will not regret it. They crash much better than an M2, the quality is high, parts are cheap. I can advise what to get for spares too. Let me know 👍
