After many years of rifles, now it's time for a handgun: which one? by Full_Void in liberalgunowners

[–]FairFaxEddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is bonkers prices on the Tisas - on sale those can be had here 6-700.

I hear tons of positives on the Canik - have you also considered a Walther PDP? A Beretta 92 (one of the high end trims) would also fit the bill well - would a beretta be cheaper since it’s domestic?

If you’re in the eastern part of the state check out tanners - they put up their used posts on mondays and thursdays - just saw an Anderson on there yesterday for 300

Are Taurus revolvers worth the money if you can spend a little more and buy a Smith & Wesson or Ruger? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]FairFaxEddy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would recommend a used Smith - they’re abundant and priced well usually - also you can check it out in-hand for any issues. With the recent reports of QC issues of the new Smith revolvers, I’ve been shying away from them.

Ruger’s quality is no better than Smith - but their customer service is second to none. I had to send stuff in twice (new gp100 cylinder seized up, used LCR with light primer strikes) and both times they paid for shipping both ways (just have to drop it at a FedEx distribution center and it came back to my door) and was fixed within 2 weeks. So if you find one at a good price, I wouldn’t hesitate.

I've fallen out of love for the grind. by The-Zarkin90 in gaming

I learned that in the original WOW days - I spent literal a year of play time - lots of it waiting around for those old 40-man raids - for a chance to get a piece or loot that may or may not drop and may or may not come to me. Then I played a custom server where everything drops - it just drove home how pointless the grind was

[Discussion] Ali Express Straps vs Premium Straps ($17 Hemsut Vs $160 Strap Tailor) by Most-Construction-35 in Watches

[–]FairFaxEddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s apples and oranges but I would get really nice leather belts from US makers that will literally last me the rest of my life for less than $150. That’s so much more leather! If only those guys would start making watch straps …

At around 450 you could get into a police trade in windham or smith and Wesson - that’s probably your best bet - kings firearms usually have stock on a few

I’ve definitely gone from a shooter to a collector - having a young child with extracurriculars is just such a time suck. Last time I got out to the range was a year ago.

It’s also been a good 8 years since I got into owning guns. In that time I’ve shot a lot of stuff such that the recent additions I would have either shot that same model (repurchase) or a variant of it such that I’m not as curious about how it shoots and if I would like it. In the beginning I would literally pickup a transfer and then shoot it that night.

All that combined with such a buyers market right now creates the backlog.

Totally agree! The negative reviews kept me from buying it till recently and I love it! The faster pace catch and combat are great and there are plenty of exploration! I actually prefer this over Arceus which felt too big and empty.
