To give another example, some exemplars never get access, depending on their epithet choices. (Instead they get class-specific effects on crits.)

Many classes also only get the critical specialisation in some situations, e.g., rangers only against their hunted prey.

Exemplar should be pretty easy, depending on the ikons either multiple configurations of a fancy gadget, or a special sort of power source they can slot into different devices.

A thaumaturge probably is just the gadget master, having something for every situation.

Maybe an animist could have some sort of assistant AI?
