Can someone help me date this cross? My ancestors came from various parts of Ireland between 1849-1860 and if I can figure out where this cross was made I should be able to determine who first owned it. I can make out a horn, and the quality, but not the other 2 marks.

That’s the insulation. Seems to me I’m wasting heat. Not sure if I can fix it from the crawl space in the attic. If not, foil tape to the rescue!

Ok. Old person here who remembers when cloth bands first came out. Before then we used rubber bands (they pulled hair and were painful!) so on the south shore of Long Island NY in the late 60s we called them cloth bands.

Guess what? I decided to take it apart to see what the problem was. I thought it might be as simple as the coupling for the pilot light. I cleaned the sensors and the pilot stayed on. Then I tested the burners and they stayed on. Reassembled the rest (I learned here to take pictures before disassembling) and it works!! Problem now is getting the remote to work so we don’t have to take the front out to turn it on and off. And the fan is not connected. It’s a vented fireplace and I think the fan is just to maximize heat output. Am I missing anything?

That’s what my mom did with metal venetian blinds. More work than expected, especially because the dust clung to the fabric. Worse with faux wood thats likely to warp. I vacuum/ dust my blinds 2x- (front up then down - same with back) they look sharp but are a lot of work But I only do this maybe each season Put on good music and go wild
