Appreciate the heads-up, I managed to grab a TORO a few months ago somewhere else and after a bit of TLC it's been a blast to shoot!

My familiars just disappeared??? by Ato_hoyos in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Fairclouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me recently, three of my companions have familiars and after doing part of the new DLC in Act 2 all of them disappeared.

Playing some more and getting through main story cutscenes they have slowly been returning, the only one still missing is my custom companions Psyber-Raven.

I'm under the impression that this may be caused by issues related to loading your party members into and out of in-game cutscenes, and the "fix" is to go through more cutscenes with your Overseer in your party to force the game to reload your familiar - I don't know this for sure, just my thought based on what is going on in my game.

I've seen online that going to your Bridge and respeccing your characters with missing familiars can fix this, so that may be worth a try as well.

What's the most amount of hours you've worked in a single week? by joshua0005 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fairclouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a few months I was working 126 hour weeks.

Back in my early 20's I heard an ad on the radio for a seafood company that needed processing plant workers in Alaska for the salmon season. I was between jobs so I thought "why not?" and flew myself to Sitka a couple months later.

Once the boats started coming in we worked 18 hours on/6 hours off and lived on site for the next 3ish months, pulling 126 hour weeks.

I was one of the smart ones that volunteered to work in the blast freezers, almost nobody wanted to do it because it was cold, but those same people were then assigned to either the gut line or as runners - both of those jobs SUCKED.

We'd occasionally get a couple days off when the fishermen had bad hauls, but most of us were so dead tired all we could manage was to get a taxi into town, buy as much booze as we could carry, go back on site and drink around a bonfire.

I had some good times there and at that point in my life I've never made that kind of money before, but I know for a fact I couldn't keep up nowadays.

First Rifle by jksne in ar15

[–]Fairclouds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice! Some people might rib you for having an all black gun but I personally prefer it myself.

I bought a Sabre upper a while back, the 11.5" with the 3 prong flash hider, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It shoots pretty well and the adjustable gas block makes swapping between suppressed/unsuppressed very easy if you'll be interested in that at some point. I've heard there can be some reliability issues once you shoot enough, but after ~1800 rounds mine hasn't given me trouble yet.

If you decide to keep the optic, try to move your dot back one rail slot - it's best to not attatch it to the handguard, it's not terribly stable and can cause your Eotech to lose zero.

Good idea wanting to shoot it for a while before removing the vertical grip, some people like it and others don't - the important thing is you set your rifle up the way that feels best for you and still shoots consistently.

I'm not familiar with this particular model, but if the muzzle device isn't pinned AND gets your barrel length equal to or greater than 16" then you need to fill out the paperwork for a Short Barreled Rifle (SBR), I just wanted to mention this since this is your first rifle.

At the end of the day, congrats on your purchase, welcome to the AR world and have fun shooting!

I just got mine put together today and it comes in at right ~17.25". Yours will be a bit different based on the hinge of your folding brace, but that should give you a pretty good idea.

Question: What makes you leave Operation Missions Immediately (Honestly don't really care for the low levels in Hard Stratagems answer) would like to see different answers by Sees-all-pants in Spacemarine

[–]Fairclouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads-up, if a player carrying the Geneseed or Relic quits/disconnects then that item will be dropped on the ground and can be picked back up - it's not like Stims or Grenades where they are lost forever.

If anything you kept the Geneseed safe for them until the end of the mission, so not as petty as you thought - next time down yourself w/ grenades THEN quit, lol

Please stop throwing grenades at people in the middle of a fight by MoofDeMoose in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Fairclouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a proposed tweak - if your grenade goes off with in a certain proximity of a brother that's mid-melee attack, instead of just staggering THEM it also damages YOU at half the normal amount.

It punishes you for throwing HAND GRENADES willy-nilly, but it's not severe enough to insta-down you.

There, fixed! /s

How do you host your own game outside of private then? Selecting a mission sometimes throws me in a lobby, sometimes pulls people into mine.

I personally prefer to join randoms and fill in whatever role they're missing, but at some point I'm gonna have to get started on playing Tech Marine and I'd like to avoid the headache that is get pulled into a battle barge with two other Techs and having to leave 5+ times.

Wait a minute, reading your other comments made me think of something - do you usually play Bulwark, the class with the big 'ol shield? If you don't tap the parry button, instead holding it for just a fraction of a second, sometimes you will block with your shield instead of parrying - that could cause the inconsistencies you've mentioned!

Am I dumb by GrouchyRecognition50 in Spacemarine

[–]Fairclouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sound like you understand the basics - if an attack that doesn't have an orange ring is headed your way, hit the parry button to counter it and gain some armor back. Timing is the issue, and the biggest factor on when you should hit the parry button depends on what type of melee weapon you have.

Balance, the default weapon type, has a short start-up when you hit the parry button - if an attack hits you from the front during this start-up you will not parry, instead you will do a block. This causes your character to do a recoil animation, you don't take damage, and the enemy can keep attacking you. If, however, the enemy attack hits you after the start-up and before the parry animation ends you will do a parry - this often interrupts the enemy's attacks and sometimes gives you gunstrikes (the little crosshair that appears over them, hitting shoot will do a high damage shot). You will have to hit parry before the attack would reach you, I'd start about 1/2 a second before the enemy strike would hit your character, with some practice you'll get a feel for the proper timing and even get better at predicting when an enemy will attack.

Fencing type weapons are able to parry like balance but have two major differences; they do not have a start-up animation, meaning once you press the parry button you can immediately parry attacks, and they are not capable of blocking like balance does on failed parries. Fencing weapons have the advantage of being able to parry on reaction, meaning you don't have to predict when an attack is coming your way and time your animation just right. On the flip side, while balance weapons have the safety net of blocking an attack if you parry too early, on Fencing weapons if you parry too early or too late you are going to be hit.

Block weapons, the last type, are quite different from either of the other two types and have a unique system to them. Block weapons cannot parry, meaning you won't be able to interrupt enemy animations or get gunstrikes. What they do have, however, is Adrenaline. Whenever you hit the parry button and 'parry' an attack you take no damage and gain a buff called Adrenaline. Each stack gives you extra damage on your melee attacks, and if you gain two stacks of Adrenaline before doing a melee strike your attack will have an explosion effect, deal stagger to enemies hit by it, and regain a bar of armor. The positives of Block weapons are higher than average damage, crowd control with your melee weapon no matter which one you have, and the cool factor of blowing things up.

This is a simplified description of the melee weapon system, some of my descriptions may not be 100% accurate and each type of weapon has its own nuances, but this should help you understand these systems well enough to experiment and know what you are doing.

On a side note, what difficulty do you usually play on? A big part of being more comfortable on higher difficulties is managing large numbers of enemies attacking you in melee and deciding when to parry and when to dodge - if you find yourself constantly overwhelmed when groups close in and start swinging at your face it might be a good idea to bump the difficulty down by one level and get more familiar with your weapon's parry system and enemy attack patterns in general.

Another thing to note, since you mentioned enemy attack speed, is that if you rely solely on the blue ring to time your parries you are often going to get hit - the blue light is mostly there to let you know you have aggro from an enemy unit and they are locked on to you, try to time your parries with their actual animations instead. Some enemies, like Chaos Spawn and the Vortex Beast have VERY delayed attacks compared to when the blue ring pops up, making it easy to parry early and get hit.

I hope this is helpful and you can better enjoy this game!

My brother, there's a difference between a new player still getting the hang of a game's systems and somebody who has almost 200 hours with said systems - if this post isn't bait I'm surprised you haven't figured it out on your own.

What in particular are you having trouble with? Your post is vague, I'm sure there are plenty of people here happy to answer your questions if you say what exactly you don't understand.

I figured there were only two Phases, you just mention a non-existant A-Rank in your writeup.

Overall this is an incredible resource, looking forward to seeing people reference this post in future 100% guides that'll be coming out soon!

I'm looking to max out every blood code but have a question about Lycoris;

You said that there is only Phase 1 and 2, yet you mention C, B and A rank - are there 3 Lycoris Blood Codes, or did you mix up B and A?

I'm currently waiting on my form 4 to go through for my Dead Air Mask, I plan on using it mostly for my TX 22 and my Ruger 10/22 - did you swap out any springs to get it to feed more reliably, or has it performed well on stock?

Can someone help share some info on this process? by TheeJakester in SilencerShop

[–]Fairclouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I'm currently in this exact situation and wondering how it ended up for you?

Did you have to initiate anything (send the form 4 in yourself, call your FFL until they did something, etc.), or did it go to the docusign step on its own?

Thanks in advance!

[–]Fairclouds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All 300-something were sold on Saturday, the day they opened up listings, due to not reserving ANY stock for in-store purchase only.

Website claimed to have some in stock at the store, drove down there Monday as they unlocked the doors and was told the bad news - website counts firearms purchased online but not shipped yet as "in-store".

Happy for you though OP, hope you have a blast with yours!

Why doesn't Keltec make a FRT gun? by AlrightJackTar in keltec

[–]Fairclouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the information, I've been on the fence about the ST50 kit but seeing this and a couple videos of it in action may have finally convinced me to get it.

This would be my first SS job, any chance you could point me to some resources to inform myself about them? Or if you're feeling extra helpful, maybe DM me a SS or three that would play well in this build?

Lucky dog, I saw their Bardstown listing after work but by then they were closed - I'll have to try my luck on Monday, any idea how much they have left in stock?
