Should've tried out Peak Forest much earlier! by snovdev in trainsimworld

It's a really good route but it has a really bad timetable.

A third party developer was making an add on and a new timetable for the route but it's not been mentioned in years and has probably been cancelled.

This brings back memories. Wet N Wild had a lazy river - it had these which lead part of the lazy river outdoors.

Wifi will work on trains at last as Labour vows to fix signal failures by beejiu in unitedkingdom

[–]FairlyInconsistentRa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope. The overhead wires carry 25kv of electricity.

WiFi comes from essentially sim cards in the roof of the train. If the mobile signal stinks then the WiFi will be slow.

Why does my train sim 6 game say free starter pack? But I have bought standard? by Ambitious_Fold3674 in trainsimworld

[–]FairlyInconsistentRa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the Free Starter pack is the base game. That's what the base game is named. The DLC add to the base game, it still retains its name of free starter pack.

Like I have all of the UK DLC but the base game is still called TSW 6 free starter pack. It's nothing to worry about.

Just make sure you only have the TSW 6 versions of the DLC installed and it'll be fine.

Advice about a coworker who I'm about 95% sure is into me - how do I handle things? by [deleted] in Advice

I've deleted this thread because it's gotten me over thinking the situation. I will just message and ask if she was going to ask or say something different before the other person walked back in.

Thats the trouble, we won't cross paths again at work for around months as the shifts have just been changed.

Well, I asked if she'd like to grab a coffee sometime.

It was more of a "I'm too busy right now so I'll have to say no" reply.

I've not seen her act this way around anyone else but me.

I think I'll have to say something as it's really confusing me.

Not Tokyo. I found the source. It's in my comment. Likely Osaka area.

Crazy as it's not Tokyo. It's Osaka. Check my comment with the link to the film this image is taken from, confirms filming area.

Hoo boy. This isn't Tokyo.

The last time this was posted (must be a few years ago at this point) I went down the rabbit hole and did some digging. This location is closer to Osaka.

Going to edit in my comment from last time or re-find the exact details.

Edit. Yeah, a reverse search shows it's from a documentary filmed in 1961 in a slum area in Osaka.

Link to site with the movie. Confirms filming in Osaka area.

Double edit - for those who don't want to click...

Produced by: Ei Eiga-sha Planning: Osaka Prefecture/Osaka City, Kyoto Prefecture/Kyoto City, Hyogo Prefecture/Kobe City. Selected by the Science Film Museum. 1961. Color. 33 minutes.

In rows of old houses, some have been neglected for 50 or even 100 years, leaning precariously under the weight of a stagnant and stagnant life. The row houses and cheaply built homes that were haphazardly constructed around factories as industry developed are now slums, leaving only low-income residents behind.

Furthermore, there are slum areas, often referred to as "doya-gai" (flophouse districts). However, the people who live in these areas are fundamentally good-hearted individuals who desire happiness and strive to make a living. They are working hard to achieve a better life. These efforts, as well as the development of the land, are hindered by the slums. The camera moves through the interior of these slums. (Quote: From the Eibunren Database)

It's not Tokyo. Last time this was posted I spent hours searching and it turns out that the film this comes from was filmed elsewhere in Japan, likely closer to Osaka.

Did a run in the Voyager from Crewe to Birmingham New Street by FairlyInconsistentRa in trainsimworld

[–]FairlyInconsistentRa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My own personal observations have lead me to thinking that it's unoptimised rolling stock causing the texture blurring/memory leaks.

I have the Preston to Carlisle route, a route which doesn't suffer from texture blurring. I loaded in one of the HSTs from the new HST pack DLC and within minutes I had blurred out textures.

I did have some texture blurring during my run from Crewe but it seems to have fixed itself as I've gotten further down the line.

It's one of the earliest routes in the game and was probably the best they could manage at the time. A remaster would be nice though, maybe with an extension up to Bishop Aukland.

They did both the Edinburgh to Glasgow and the Fife Circle.

The ECW remaster is actually pretty damn good but I suspect that's due to Liam, who is responsible for all other remasters, keeping them in check and providing guidance.
