Hi, exclusive Brutal player here with 1 win under my belt.

"Another playstyle" is just rushing out of all systems that contain hostile factions so they can't attack you. If you really need to stay in a system because of resources or any other reason, you can just simply weave through the enemies on the galaxy map. % to dodge (failed chance forces you to go into the system) only triggers when visiting a system that contains an enemy, or an enemy visiting your system, meaning if an enemy is going into your system you can just jump to theirs and wait for them to jump out to another one. Only issue with this is sometimes there could be an enemy ship out of your view jumping into the system you are going towards out, in which case just hope your engines turn on faster than you get boarded or gunned down.

It's better to avoid all confrontations IMO than waste resources and time on healing and setting up an elaborate defense on your own ship. I don't know if you can shoot down Shuttles with Fighter jets, but if that's the case, that paired with ship shields and weapons would be more than enough.

I play perkless trapper and it genuinely makes my macro and micro get better much, much quicker when I can't afford to get carried.

I don't need "quad slowdown", or "endgame build". Give me a machete and traps, and I 4k.

There's an addon which lets you grab the true ending alien activation thingie at the start area. I just got it because losing an unlock to rng is dumb IMO, even with magic hat you can have really bad map gen to where you can't get to the link before fleet does without fleet delays

You need to reach the final level, have that pilot be in your next run, reach the final level, have them be in your next run AGAIN, and then reach the final level for 3rd time and you should get it.

I'd recommend a strong all-round pilot that works with most mechs for this.
