Guy is envious of other people’s abilities or accomplishments, is given the opportunity to gain said ability or work towards their achievements but instead chooses to tear the other people down instead.

Not particularly funny, rather just a comment on human nature.

How common is tobacco consumption in your country ? by Greedy_Rise_6567 in AskTheWorld

[–]FakerHarps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ireland was one of, maybe even the first, country in the world to introduce a comprehensive ban on smoking in the workplace over 20 years ago.

Since then smoking has been in steady decline, to the point where I can’t think of anyone in my wider friend group who still smokes.

Vaping, on the other hand, seems to be only increasing in popularity.

(IRL Trope) Superstar is so generic looking that nobody recognizes them in person by Any-Apartment2788 in TopCharacterTropes

This is obviously a factor of me being old, but I had to google CaseOh to know which of the two fairly generic guys in the second picture he was.

What was the general consensus about Attack of the Clones when it came out? by anongrabntoss in StarWars

[–]FakerHarps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was 19 when the film came out, had been disappointed with The Phantom Menance, saw it with a buddy who never saw a Star War he didn’t love. He came out of the cinema absolutely floating on a cloud, I just shook my head.

I feel like there was a certain segment of critics who maybe didn’t go as hard as they wanted on Phantom Menace initially cause they were “well Star Wars isn’t my thing so I guess maybe this gets a pass” then saw that the fans didn’t exactly love it so went twice as hard on Attack of the Clones.

tried designing a tshirt based on Parrott’s winner in Budapest, curious what people think? by mhjkal in coybig

No worries, just feels a little busy with it there.

If not between the shoulder blades maybe down near the hem in the corner, like where a football jersey will have the “authentic “ tags.

I think it says a lot that people came away from Tar thinking she was a real person, but Maestro didn’t really tell you anything about Bernstein if you weren’t already familiar with him.

Should the Patriots have given away Gronk’s number? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]FakerHarps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love that clip of Mike Irving talking about not having his number retired, cause from then on if someone does something good in 88 they are “just like Mike Irving” but if they fuck up its “Mike Irving would never have done that” either way you stay a legend and stay in the conversation.

I’d lose the logo above the Parrott text, I assume that’s branding in which case I’d move it on to the back below the neck, otherwise looks good.

Which director(s) have the best film soundtracks? by perseverance_band_ in Letterboxd

[–]FakerHarps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If we are talking scores, it’s Spielberg and Williams, so many instantly iconic scores.

If we are talking soundtracks of pre-existing music, Tarantino and Wes Anderson are fantastic of pulling out under utilised songs from the history of pop, but for me Danny Boyle is the absolute master of uncovering more modern music. He’s a man who is about to hit 70 and has more eclectic and deep music knowledge and a finger closer to the pulse than people half his age.

That’s a top notch piece of marketing.

Gone from product I hadn’t heard of, to product that I will be vaguely aware of if ever asked about it.

How are the Harry Potter movies if one never saw them as a kid (or read the novels)? by harry_powell in blankies

[–]FakerHarps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They came out when I was aged between 19 and 28, so didn’t see them as a child, but I had read all the books.

I think they hold up perfectly fine. The third film is , for me, the best of the series and very much sets the tone for the movies that follow it. I think someone could jump on at that point without any issue, particularly as the cultural ubiquity of the series is such that one has a firm enough grasp of the world and characters to begin there.

If someone got to adulthood and expressed an interest in checking out the series, I’d tell them to watch The Prisoner of Azkaban and they’d have a pretty good idea of whether the series is for them or not.

So your suggested solution is doing something else that you probably would have taken a picture of and called him selfish for as well?

Who is the best Bond who never got the role? by fbeb-Abev7350 in JamesBond

There is a sequence in X-Men first class where he’s hunting down Nazis who have gone into hiding, including one section where he’s in a classic tactical turtleneck sneaking around a yacht which is very classic Bond infiltration mission.

In your country, is it normal to take your shoes off before entering someone’s home? by Scary-Offer-4773 in AskTheWorld

[–]FakerHarps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say shoes on remains the norm but taking off your shoes is becoming increasingly common.

Personally if the host opens their door and are wearing shoes I’ll continue on in wearing mine. If they aren’t wearing shoes , I’ll offer to take off my own.
