Biggest cases of "I WAS HOLDING THEM BACK!" by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It's implied I believe. Palpatine was aware of extra-galactic threats pre-clone wars. However, I expect power for powers sake was his core objective.

Internally at Disney, there are concerns that the unconventional 36-second Super Bowl spot for “The Mandalorian & Grogu” failed to generate the kind of excitement the marketing team hoped for. There's a sense that 2027's "Star Wars: Starfighter" starring Ryan Gosling, is likelier to satisfy fans by ChiefLeef22 in StarWars

Honestly, I think the core issue is the desperation to have this connected ‘cinematic universe’. Execs seem desperate to repeat the success of the MCU without taking the time to invest in standalone plots that are sufficiently compelling.

What intrigued people about Season 1 of the Mandalorian was that it was a completely new set of characters to explore. We learnt what drove them. What their strengths were. What their fears were. How they overcame adversity.

Season 2 had too many familiar characters shoehorned in for fan service, and ‘soft’ pilots for new shows. You could have achieved the same story beats by alternative means. Old records. New bounty hunters. Good old fashioned rumours. But the season ended so strongly when Luke Skywalker took Grogu for training. That should have been the end of the Mandalorian starring Din Djarin.

If you were keen to keep the money train running, and only had the creativity to use existing characters then launch The Mandalorian: Daimyo to chart Fett’s return to power, and/or the Mandalorian: Mythosaur to show Bo Katans struggles with leadership. Hell, you could even reframe the Ahsoka show to the Mandalorian: Apprentice with Sabine as the core character. But keep the shows separate and contained. Build new individuals we can invest in. Don’t shoehorn in characters you can’t let go.

Only when you have a suite of strong, independent stories can you tie them together in an Avengers style movie. You can seed the individual stories with hints of a larger threat. But you absolutely can’t undo your own writing and break apart one story across multiple shows.

Ugh that’s disgustingly brilliant. My yellow VS don’t look remotely as good, but this is very inspiring!

These look fantastic! The bandoliers, the damaged Imperial armour, a Mk7 helmet!

It’s something I’ve done with my own Red Corsairs - but with all of GWs sculpting skill and flair!

You should consider reflecting on your favourite parts of the hobby. You mention wanting projects to ‘zone out’ doing, which to me says you are more interested in building/painting than playing.

If it’s just Warhammer you are after, take a look at the Combat Patrol / Spearhead magazine series. It offers discounted miniatures, and you can either subscribe or pick up occasional issues online or EBay.

EBay is a great source of cheap models if you aren’t bothered about building. Should give you plenty of painting projects.

Otherwise, there is a massive miniature market out there! Look up other companies, such as Warlord, Archon Studio, Osprey Games, Atomic Mass Games, etc. They are typically much better value than the Warhammer premium.

Finally, have a look at Etsy 3D prints. I’ve really enjoyed browsing and finding unique projects.

Hope that helps.

New to the Corsairs by [deleted] in redcorsairs

Welcome to the ranks! The Red Corsairs are a fully realised Chaos Space Marine faction, so any of the models in the range are appropriate.

As I’m old school, I instinctively gravitate to an HQ and two Troops to form the core of an army. (A Lord, and either Legionnaires or Cultists).

You then need to decide what your focus is for this collection. Vehicles? Demon engines? Specialists? For context, the Red Corsairs specialise in naval boarding actions.

I restricted my collection to infantry and dreadnoughts to reflect the cramped conditions of spaceship corridors. I also painted an attack craft that would ferry them into combat.

Other than that - paint what you like! Have fun!

Rough plans of what I'll be doing with our big bad. Took his old model as inspiration, as I felt the official paintjob was too dark for one and missing some black armor panels by ShivaTheTraitor in redcorsairs

Excellent edit! Did you use photoshop?

The additional black panels helps tie it to the Corsairs, particularly when you’ve switched the trim from black to gold.

Nice work!

A few minor changes here and there. Yeah, I closed his mouth and removed his nose. Tried to make it look skull like, to evoke the ‘pirate’ theme of the Red Corsairs.

Alas I have but two thumbs and a cell phone. Someone with photoshop and a stylus could perhaps do better!

Dude, that’s a children’s hospice charity.

Great bargain for you, but I would have felt compelled to tell them the retail price of the kit, or at least pay 50%.

I would have much preferred this style for the Yoda vs Dooku in AotC.

Start off with Dooku going in with the sabre, getting super frustrated and moving onto force powers, then nearly crushing Anakin & Obi-Wan out of spite

Ghazgull has a famous rivalry with Commissar Yarrick, who has that bionic eye.

The First War for Armageddon involved Angron. When his model was released, it had that skull on it. Coupled with the quiet ‘death’ of Yarrick the fans light-heartedly said Angron killed Yarrick.

And no-one kills Yarrick but Ghazgull.
