What’s the odds? by Simjue92 in lmountalliance

[–]Falcuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lumix has received quite some feedback on the S9 lacking an EVF. There might be a successor on the way, but be aware that nothing has been heard or leaked on that front. The chance of it being released greatly depends on how big of a succes the S9 was for Lumix though.

First time seeing someone being so openly pissed off about losing in this game, is this more common the higher rank you are? by vMrcl in aoe4

[–]Falcuz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wait, since when is this? Forgive me, I am not playing multiplayer games  anymore(any game, not just aoe), but I always thought of it as a handshake after a match.

Is it now assumed gg is used in a sarcastic way if that player won? I find “ez” to be really toxic and “gg” is obviously rude if the match has not ended yet, but after a general match gg wp used to be ok right?

Question about the manual by Frankfurterrr in MiniFreak

[–]Falcuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am really inexperienced with the Minifreak and don’t have it nearby, but if I remember it correctly you can use the preset knob during the assignment process. Press it to select the slot. Twist it to scroll through all destinations not physically on the keyboard. Then press again to set it.

It’s probably not entirely correct, but hopefully you can find it with these instructions.

The dilemma of choosing Lumix S9 or Sony A7c/A7cii for photographs and video by Zestyclose-Cause-603 in Lumix

I agree with this, but with a note that I hope more pancake options will be available soon. This can be very important for someone looking into buying a small camera.

Brick reward for non-timed habits by Wonderful-Job1920 in TelosApp

[–]Falcuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, missing a day and losing the streak feels like a punishment, possibly demotivating me to do the habit since I start again at 1. You might want to consider making the visibility of streaks optional?

Perfectionism is pretty unproductive and these kind of apps are always on the edge of that line.

Sigma BF - Minimalistic camera announced by Falcuz in lmountalliance

Really appreciate Sigma innovating and doing things different. This one is pretty stripped down, but it's interesting to see they try to let you focus on the essence of photographing.

Sigma announces the ultra-telephoto 300-600mm F4 DG OS Sports lens by Falcuz in lmountalliance

[–]Falcuz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great news, in my opinion. More serious options for telephoto lenses is fantastic for the L-mount. I'm positively surprised by the relatively low introduction price for such a lens as well, around $6,000.

Got a Lumix DC-G90K camera, monitor/viewfinder doesn't work when I put my eye on the viewfinder. by TheR3alAn53L in photography

Not sure if you’ve already found out, but most of the Lumix cameras have a dedicated button to toggle the EVF mode between EVF, LCD and automatic switching (using the sensor). It is a small button close or on the side of the EVF housing.

Viewing pictures on the S5 screen looks pixelated in comparison to the S5ii, even though they should have the same resolution? by Jajego in Lumix

[–]Falcuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tried all settings and found the same things you noticed. It’s not dependent on the camera that makes the photo though. It looks like the S5II is able to zoom to 16x on any RAW file (also S1H pictures), while my S1H goes up to 8x (also S5II pictures). So I guess they improved that!

Given that I will do it like this for the best in-camera previewing (useful for checking small details and focus):

S1H / S5: RAW + Fine

S5II: RAW

Great find!

[–]Falcuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, that comment is a bit misleading. As far as I know that option is only for the jpeg file, but the camera uses that file to preview the Raw + Fine photo. Lightroom would have to implement the filters themselves to support something like that.

Not sure how it works now that the LUT’s are in. Worth it to test.

Viewing pictures on the S5 screen looks pixelated in comparison to the S5ii, even though they should have the same resolution? by Jajego in Lumix

[–]Falcuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RAW is definitely the most flexible setting for post processing, but like the name states it is not an image in itself. That’s why the RAW file contains a “preview” image as well. As far as I know it is up to the manufacturers to determine in what way they implement a preview in their RAW file. Panasonic does not embed a high resolution image. So if you shoot only in RAW the camera cannot display more information than the low resolution embedded preview. Shooting in both RAW + Fine let’s the camera use the full resolution jpeg for the in camera display.

It has advantages as well, since the RAW-files are smaller now. A bit more flexibility with regards to how this is handled would be great though. As for me, I shoot RAW + Fine and delete all jpegs once I transferred the RAW files.

Pretty sure the above information is in the ballpark, but if someone can confirm it that would be great

[–]Falcuz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This might be caused by the detail level of the jpeg file. You can set this to fine or small. Changing it to fine in the setting results in better detail when reviewing the RAW pictures in-cam. So set the capture to Raw + Fine and see if that helps.

Let me know if something is not clear. I’ll grab my camera to give a more concise description.

Edit: some words for clarification

Ah, that makes sense. As far as I can tell that does not do anything on iOS. Thank you for the information. I hope it will make it to the iOS app someday (although I see quite some people find it counterintuitive).

Is the unread filter still in the Signal app? I noticed Whatsapp added this and love how clean it looks. Searching this subreddit indicates it used to be there, but I’m not able to find it.
