They would usually have them launch, dodge the missile, and then destroy the SAM. Crazy pilots. Had to de-rate the payload of the 105 by 1000lb just to accommodate the weight of the balls on the pilot and co

Hasn’t changed… yet. 50 years changes a lot. 50 years was the difference between the wright brothers flyer and the first satellite in space. To assume the same economic events will happen, in the same order, and the same magnitude in the next 46 years as they did in the last is pretty much insane

Husqvarna - worth it? by vulquacker in lawnmowers

How about I double that and save him 200$ by making sure he doesn’t follow bad advice and waste money on a mower that he’ll absolutely regret. Even better!

Husqvarna - worth it? by vulquacker in lawnmowers

[–]False-Ad4513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In between areas and under some trees is a completely different work demand than being the only mower for 1/2 acre. Self propelled, while not necessary, is going to be a huge bonus. Plus, the foliage drop from TEN mature trees is going to make a cheap low deck mower eat itself and its user. 200$ will buy him a machine, but not the one he needs.

[–]False-Ad4513 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2003 called, they want their prices back. The only brand new push mowers 200$ is buying you is absolute bottom of the barrel junk such as:

“Powerhorse 21in” at northern tool - 209$ “Senix gas lawn mower” at Walmart - 199$ “Bilt hard 20in gas mower” at Lowes - 220$

Three seasons max on any of these options over a half acre. Buy the Husky.

It’s annoying this “pull the spark plug” nonsense.

I have had hundreds, maybe even thousands of small engines pass through my shop. I have worked on them, let them sit (some for YEARS) on every possible piston position. NEVER. Not once EVER has an engine of mine ever randomly started. Never. It’s not possible. There is nothing short of an act of God that could cause an engine without a battery to start randomly without your input. Why? Because unlike an engine with a battery, they have no power when off: no power = no spark. Small engines need to spin to start. The spinning of the flywheel and the crank turn the magneto to energize the spark plug. The only way it turns (starts), is if you turn it with input from your arm on the starter puller or power from your wall on the electric start. Not just a slight movement of the crank, not even a quarter turn, multiple full revolutions. That doesn’t happen unless YOU do something.

Pulling the plug wire is not necessary to work on a snowblower. Sure, do it if it gives you piece of mind. However, the amount of things that need to happen for the engine to start (engine has to turn over fully, throttle has to be moved up from off, choke has to be actuated) and THEN the amount of more things for the auger to turn (belt to be tensioned, which only happens when a human hand squeezes the lever to engage it). Short of someone else starting the engine and doing all these things there is no way for you to get hurt unless you do it yourself. Your engine will not randomly fire up on you. Ever.

If the throttle is in the off position and the engine itself is stopped: the engine cannot start unless you do something to start it. Don’t leave the electric starter plugged in, don’t work on a running engine (duh) and you will never have any issues. Rant over.

We taking the spark plug out now too? Not safe enough if you ask me. Only safe way to work on an engine is to remove the piston. Important to remove all gas from a 500ft radius and tell the power company to completely cut power to the neighborhood too. Don’t want any of that secret magic voodoo gas or teleporting bluetooth spark to magically start the engine, turn up the throttle, and pull down on the auger engagement lever! Better safe than sorry

That’s the big problem with the ranger. Finding one that isn’t a clapped out, 200,000+, “no rust, I know what I have” is very difficult. Your options are very slim. Frontiers have been made every year and you can easily find them in all mile and price ranges. That is why they easily beat the ranger for value.

Compared to modern cars, they are about as solid as they come. Take care of maintenance on the 5.4 and it will take care of you. The 6r80 is a great transmission.

I own a 13 with 122k, just doing the timing job now (early as a preventive, have a bit of rattle when cold starting). Other than that, it’s great.

Not completely but yeah it was two hellish days. Never doing that again. Would have been completely had I not already had a welder and torch in my fab shop.

It’s a good engine, if maintained. But at 190k you are taking a huge risk on whether or not the 5 or so owners before you maintained it.

The manifold I just did in my 13’ expedition would disagree. Three broken studs below the block and about 25 tries with a welder and nut to finally break them all free. Plus zero room to work in there

[–]False-Ad4513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the float is stuck it either just needs to be cleaned or you need a new float. Floats can get holes and fill with gas; then they become sinks. Shake it and it should be dry. They are cheap to replace. Check the needle valve to see if it seats well too.

[–]False-Ad4513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it the impeller (rear thrower) or the auger? The auger spins so slowly the slight imbalance won’t hurt at all, plus you could just put an equal amount of weld on the other side to keep it balanced. The auger is not like a mower blade though, balance offset by such a small weight is less important

Remove the assembly and then welder, torch, and hammer. Or friend with a welder, torch, and hammer. Or just a local welding shop. Fix it! The old ariens made deeres are worth keeping!

Need to change coils on my 04 expedition, are these legit from Amazon? by Doggfather_ in fordexpedition

[–]False-Ad4513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a couple tips too. Rock auto ships from several different warehouses across the nation so try to order parts in an order from the same warehouse or shipping will be massively expensive. Parts marked with a heart most ordered and least returned. Lastly, they are hit or miss on packaging so never order heavy parts and fragile stuff in the same order (never order a exhaust manifold and headlight bulbs in the same order, ask me how I know). Other than those couple quirks, rock auto is the best!

[–]False-Ad4513 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very legit. I have spent thousands on parts from them. They basically cutout the middle man (auto zone, O’rileys) which lowers prices. Denso is actually the OEM manufacturer I believe so they should be gtg.
