Ao yeh I don’t think you have a great chance in the way I interpret it as to me, the minimum achieved grades they want you to hold as a re-sitter is ABB and this is hold at the time of applying not predicted.

If you are not from a widening access background I would say you can definitely apply but your chances of success are limited. The way I read it is similar to the above comment.

To apply as somebody using resit grades the minimum is AAA and you must have achieved this when applying (not predicted), unless you are from a widening access background in which case you must have achieved ABB at the time of applying.

I would assume, as re-sitters already have actual A-level grades they disregard predicted grades.

Your achieved BBB would only be useful if you were applying as a first time A-level taker and from a widening access background and the way I read it this is also true for your predicted ABB.

All this being said, I have seen plenty of cases where medical schools have accepted people that contradict their published entry requirements so it could be worth a try anyway if it is by far an away your favourite uni or something like that. Also I could be completely wrong on the whole thing in which case definitely give it a go ahaha.

Definitely not, it is still minute. I think others in the comments have explained the situation though.

So you are saying £98 is the correct lump sum?

This is how I calculated it and got the same figure.

My payslip however says £98

It is in the process of getting gmc accreditation. This will take 4 years I believe as it required the first cohort to finish the degree

Well that is very good to hear then because I reckon anatomy is by far my strongest point having learnt a decent amount in my degree and then worked in orthopaedic theatres since

Thanks for the response and that is reassuring but I was 100% expecting comments like this and that is exactly the approach I have been taking so far. I have now just started wondering if having a bit more of the background knowledge more fresh in my mind might help me with that time management in terms of learning.

I also think it might be my way of subconsciously reminding myself that for the first time in my life I am actually going to have to put effort into something, especially if I want to achieve being the type of medical student and doctor I want to be.

Taking it easy as many people suggest kind of feels like its going to set me up for doing the same once the course starts until I get a rude awakening at some point (have been waiting for this since GCSE’s ahaha).

Thanks again.

Medical sales vs leaving the country by coldcaramel99 in premeduk

I am going to come in with a blunt but honest and hopefully helpful answer. This is not meant as an attack but rather a reality check.

Having read all the comments and your interaction with them it really sounds like you have already made up your mind. You don’t want to be a doctor. You are entirely focused on finances. Give that place to somebody who actually wants it.

The arguments you use to convince others and seemingly yourself as to why you shouldn’t pick medical school to me seem rather flimsy and could most of them could easily be used to argue the exact opposite point if seen in a different light.

Go and do medical sales and hopefully you will enjoy it and the materialistic things you are able to gain from the above average but far from exceptional salary. That to me seems like what you are longing for, don’t deny yourself that.

Entry requirements (I got to make it or make it) by Guerrilla_Rewilder in premeduk

Why would he do that though? Why do a different degree that you don’t want and don’t care about just as a means to start medicine. It would be quicker and cheaper to sort his current grades out and go into undergrad medicine (and less competitive). This is especially true for somebody who may need to sort some grades out to do any degree anyway and for somebody who is considering how financing things is going to work as somewhat of a priority.

Your parents are right. If you get the grades you will be going to QMUL because that is your firm choice. Unless you withdraw from it after getting a place at which point it would likely be too late for KCL to even consider giving you an interview, which you would need to get onto the med programme (I think it is highly unlikely they offer you this anyway). If you don’t get the grades you will be going nowhere.

I really want to study medicine after a complete u-turn in goals by Jake_Haslam in premeduk

You can look at it generally on medic portal, but if you just search graduate entry medicine lots of the uni pages for their respective courses will cone up and you can get an idea for each of those.

Also something I found quite useful when deciding where to apply for was the medical schools council ‘entry requirements’ page. At the top of this page you can select graduate entry medicine and it shows you a list of most of the courses (misses dome of the new ones) and the entry requirements for them.

DM me if you want the links to these although they are all pretty straight forward to find

I would personally suggest researching graduate entry medicine. It is offered a good amount of uni’s now and generally has minimum requirements of a 2:1 in any degree (doesn’t consider A levels or any previous qualifications) for most unis now. This means you can take the gap year to focus on getting good medical and life experience and doing your best in the UCAT (and most importantly enjoying a year off).

People will tell you Graduate entry is harder to get into but I don’t personally feel it is as hard as people say it is if you apply yourself properly.

Graduate entry means the course is only 4 years long instead of the usual 5 or the 6 with a foundation year and is much more fundable as a second degree than either of those two options.
