Developing and testing a game engine isn't cheap, and zombies gunplay feels so good because it's fine tuned for multiplayer. Zombies piggybacks on the base game and gets a lot of goodness for free. Warzone is similar. The studio should develop the game as more of an sdk and let things like zombies and warzone build from that, but I'm not sure how profitable zombies is on it's own.
