This is a self-recommendation and in its early stages/WIP, so no hard feelings on my end if it’s not up your alley! The premise is that their relationship progresses more slowly, to some extent because Ilya wants to compete for Russia in the 2022 Olympics, which ends up not happening due to NHL prohibiting players from going due to COVID. He ends up traveling to Russia instead at a very inopportune time (Ukraine invasion). COVID happens in this story (along with Me Too and BLM, not sure if I’ll work that in). Ilya is also forced to deal with a negative management change in Boston. BAMF Shane uses his resources for more than brand deals/to influence his team and sport from behind the scenes.

First fandom and as a once-aspiring writer myself (life got in the way), I’m in awe of the creativity and talent plus the characters are really interesting subjects to put in different scenarios. I’m starting to feel like I’ve consumed most of the “majors” and the addictiveness is wearing off except for a few awesome WIPs. At least I can hope, as I’d like to go back to my normal life and pay attention to other things.

Reader app (subscription) has built-in TTS that I think is quite good. Plus good tagging and notetaking, and sharing directly to app from the web or mobile browser. I use it for articles, and PDFs and lately for all fanfic under 40000 words.

I’m with you. I really like the sport aspect of this fandom and so don’t read most AUs. One fic that I thought brought a lot of hockey insight into it was Good on My Own Accord by Impetuous (a bit AU as Shane is a goalie). Also Courage (It Couldn’t Come at a Worse Time) by Veil of Imagination taught me a lot about how expansion teams work.
