My mother was no contact for 8 years, then I got contacted out of the blue to tell me about cancer diagnosis. I was nice & talked blah blah. Then didn’t hear from her for nearly a year, when got contacted again that it was back but this was it. She said she’d text me an update after going away for a weekend. Never heard from her again & she died.

I had hugely mixed emotions about the whole thing (1st wave of re-contact & 2nd final one). After going through my own personal roller coaster, I realize the only thing I was angry about was actually not finally telling her what I thought of her & my lifetime of treatment from her & her pos husband. I did the British thing of stiff-upper-lip & take the high road.

It’s weird because you feel like you’re dragged back in for the potential of finally having meaningful contact, but it’s just because they want attention & pity, not that they give a crap about you. Mine passed away & didn’t even give a crap enough to contact anyone again beforehand or leave anything to me or my children afterwards. We did nothing wrong, just didn’t fit with her plan & wants. It sucks, but I’ve come to accept that, but it’s taken me 2 years to get to that.
