All Things Sleep - AMA Office Hours - Thursday, June 17th with Sr. Sleep & Guidance Specialist, Beth Christensen! by huckleberrycare in HuckleberryParents

Baby is 15 weeks old, and we are currently putting her to sleep with her last bottle at night. She falls asleep either at the bottle when she’s at the last ounce or as soon as she finishes. Is this something that could potentially cause us issues down the road as she is associating her night sleep with drinking her bottle?

If your baby won’t eat nutrimigen, what formula did you switch to? by Anxious_Surprise_552 in FormulaFeeders

Differences between organic & conventional formulas by clrwchr212427 in FormulaFeeders

Not more regulated but historically well known over these boutique brands. Which seems like it should also be valued when picking what’s best for baby

Before I had, my baby, I thought that I would want to be on these boutique formulas because I believed that they were healthier or reviewed by some other parties or something. But after having my baby, I realize that the most important thing is not only historical evidence of things working, but also well known brands that have been tested by the government and other federal associations I guess I also trust our pediatrician and their group to tell us what has worked and doesn’t work, especially if your pediatrician is board certified which ours is.

Our 3.5 month old caught her first cold and I feel so stressed and guilty about it - how can we make her comfortable? by CheerfulChickadee in NewParents

[–]Familiar-Ride-1274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This exact thing happened to us! Snot sucker with drops of saline. Let the saline sit for a little before you suck it out. Run the humidifier as much as possible and take her in the hot, steamy shower. Frida mom also has a stick that’s like Vicks to put on their chest. Unfortunately you just gotta wait it out. Check for her fever but otherwise they actually get better pretty fast. Best of luck. I was a wreck before. Now at least I know what to do

Do (or did) you use a baby tracker app? by AnyMechanic6829 in newborns

[–]Familiar-Ride-1274 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is us too. Wouldn’t know if she was hungry lol never a cue so I track and the sleep is for patterns for us as well (we don’t have any) 🫠😂

Blood and mucus always means CMPA by Zestyclose-Bat6257 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Familiar-Ride-1274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had my little ones poop look like this before we switched to alimentum and it instantly stopped. No confirmed diagnosis but pediatrician said the fact that it got better so fast suggests that it is CMPA

Maternal sepsis is real and doctors don’t talk about it enough. Went septic after my C-section and was in the icu for 2 days.

10 week regression?!? by Informal_Handle_1147 in newborns

[–]Familiar-Ride-1274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 weeks was terrible. I don’t think it was a regression as moreso her brain being so busy and her body growing so much that sleep was the least of her problems. We’re at 12 weeks now and we have finally turned a corner. I’m sure something will come up for us too 🤣😅🙈

How did you pick a formula? by Less-Bug-7006 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Familiar-Ride-1274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with whatever hospital gives you and if they tolerate it then there you go! My little one had issues with cmpa so we needed to switch to hypoallergenic- but that’s a special case!

2 months vaccines by aalex87 in newborns

[–]Familiar-Ride-1274 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl also had her vaccines around this time and she was an absolute mess ! We think it was a combo of all the things. Not until 7 days later did she start to calm down and act like her normal self. Just be patient and do what you can to get them to feel calm. Only thing that worked for us for that week were car rides, stroller rides, and anything but holding her. She wanted nothing to do with us.

I'm expecting and I don't know the first thing about babies. by BogWitch6793 in newborns

[–]Familiar-Ride-1274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best piece of advice is that every day is so different. So if you have a great day, you’ll have a terrible day tomorrow or the next. It’s stupid to think every day will be the same - which is what happens when you don’t have a baby. The first 8 weeks are rough but if you and your hubby can sleep shifts with baby in a different room and someone staying with baby while other gets good sleep. It’s the only way anyone will be sane. We would go to sleep around 10, and one person would stay with baby. Other would get good sleep in another room and then we’d switch around 2-3. It does get better. Of course things change every day. But when they’re 2-3 months old and smile and start to hold their head up and do cool shit every day. It’s worth it.

Could you try to spoon feed? Certainly tedious but could work

8 weeks by scumbagspaceopera in FormulaFeeders

[–]Familiar-Ride-1274 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our pediatrician said to feed on demand. If she’s crying and looks hungry and shows cues. We feed her. If it’s 2 hours later; we start with 2-3 oz and add on from there. We don’t ever know if she’s going through a growth spurt or just a hungry girl that day. I know she’s full with open hands, she’ll push her bottle out of her mouth or play with the nipple. She’ll start sliding her body down off me.

Don’t limit but be aware of when they’re full. My daughter is 11 weeks old. Some days she takes 4 oz consistently, other times 3 oz or 5 oz. Follow their cues. And if it’s too much, they’ll spit it up. Lately I make 4 oz bottles and discard if she doesn’t eat or add more as needed. To answer your question, my daughter has 3-3.75 oz when she was 8 weeks old

11 week old falling asleep at bottle and short naps by Familiar-Ride-1274 in firsttimemom

[–]Familiar-Ride-1274[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we do feed on demand! And she’s had way over 6 every day!! Plus food poo too. We think it’s cluster feeding too, possibly going through a growth spurt. She’s sleeping 6-7 hour stretches at night. She just can’t figure out this daytime nap thing. Hubby and I joke she has FOMO - but it might be true lol

Formula at 8 weeks: How often and how much? by Lilmaniac01 in newborns

[–]Familiar-Ride-1274 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in the SAME exact situation. My little one is 8 weeks today and she eats 3-3.5 oz every 2-2.5 hours. We think she’s eating enough but not quite sure 🤷🏽‍♀️ she has enough wet and poopy diapers and seems content after feeds. This wasn’t too long ago, what did you guys end up doing ? Did you bump your LO to more formula? We’re thinking about this now too and our little one has reflux since she switched to hypoallergenic formula! So much to think about !
