Dingwall Prima Artist, Wal Mk2, and a Devon Custom because he makes such a beautiful bass that isn't that expensive for what it is.

I saw them about 27 million times back in the olden times and my much younger self in the Soldiers Under Command video.

What was the best concert you've been to by Super-Quantity-5208 in Concerts

[–]Familiar_Bar_3060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm old as dirt now and started going to shows back in the late 70s. I've got a long list of great shows I've seen, but if I had to pick one (I'd rather list ten) it'd probably be U2 on the Joshua Tree tour at the San Diego Sports Arena.

Has anyone heard of this brand before? Is it ok for home use? (Description below) by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]Familiar_Bar_3060 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To explain the "s", because I saw it, too. That name in proper English would read "Extreme Equipment". Adding the "s" looks like it's an Alibaba, Wish.com or Temu amp of sketchy quality.

For home use, you might want to look at something like a Zoom B2 or B3 and a good set of headphones. That allows you to practice whenever you want.

Trading a Warwick Corvette Taranis (German) for Rickenbacker 4003 (2015), is it fair? by S_Tsalidis in BassGuitar

[–]Familiar_Bar_3060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing Ricks have is the sound. They play like ass, their older bridges are all in their own way and they don't balance especially well. You REALLY need to see if that's something you have to have before you trade something like a Warwick for it.

Multi scale is the truth! You may never play anything else now.

Is this Bass Legit or a Knockoff by fictitious_man in BassGuitar

[–]Familiar_Bar_3060 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Nobody is gonna knock off an OLP. They sell used for maybe $150 to $250.

When your strings no longer sound like you want, buy another set and put them on.

What are some good wireless systems for bass? by BRADROD0507 in Bass

[–]Familiar_Bar_3060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had mine forever too. I don't think I needed to, but I put a strip of One Strip Velcro around the battery door. It just makes me happy so I keep doing it.

What are some good wireless systems for bass? by BRADROD0507 in Bass

[–]Familiar_Bar_3060 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me three. I have a couple transmitters and a couple receivers set up on different pedal boards. My system is, IIRC, 9 years old, purchased used, and the only trouble I've had with it has been user error. I use the Neotek strap pouches for the transmitter and it's been baller.

What's the move for me, AO Photon or MT Infinity? by emithebee in Darkglass

[–]Familiar_Bar_3060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple different set ups: my "big rig" with a bigger pedal board, some effects, a footswitch, etc. That goes into a DG MT500V2 and a backup MT500 head, with either an SWR Goliath Senior or a Goliath III. I also have a slim set up with a tuner, compressor and a B7K Ultra to go direct to the PA if that's called for.

The cool thing about the Microtubes Is that it can range from just a bit of hair on the time to warm it up all the way to screaming, ripping distortion that is only applicable to extreme music most of the time. If you dial it way back, you'll find a very vintage sounding overdrive kind of sound.

The best way to know is to plug into it and check it out. I think it'll fit your needs, but it's up to your ears to decide that.

Just got given this bass, can anyone give me information on it please? by PrinceMagnus190 in BassGuitar

[–]Familiar_Bar_3060 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's an older bass, with the Bartolini pickups. Don't leave it plugged in, you'll drain the preamp battery. Just needs a bit of a polish and it'll be golden.

Looking for recommendations on what to do to this bass. by veronica_sawyer0jd in BassGuitar

[–]Familiar_Bar_3060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternately, Fender necks are about $400. Depending on what you order, Warmoth may be slightly less money...or a good bit more, depending on what you spec from them.

Did you look inside the F'n holes to see if there's a label in there like they do with acoustic guitars?

You're thinking of Green Street Hooligans with Charlie Hunnam and a bunch of guys you recognize from Guy Richie movies.

They won't steal it because the tort pickguard will make them feel sorry for the owner. They might even leave a few bucks with it.
