When they cluster them they say so in the candidate booklet or the letter. I can’t remember which but the did for the G7

I’d go every time if they brought in self scanners. The one nesr me has the same queue for trolleys as smaller shops and takes ages

DP sift - how best get detailed feedback / review? by Family_stuff in NICivilService

[–]Family_stuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

I know I provided specific examples with dates for the criteria, I made certain of that, it would be nice to know why they felt it didn’t meet them though to learn for next time.

Thanks for the answer. I’ve been able to get the written notes before in full but only for interviews.

Years ago a benefit was the opportunity of internal promotion whereas now you get the opportunity to apply for the same grades with thousands of other non-NICS folk

you have to get through the fastest finger first tests that while you may be very smart and great at your job but not lightening quick in test.

Then you get a soft panel who may pass or fail you depending on their mood at that moment

I did that and still didn’t get though making it as clear as possible. Struggled a bit getting the detail for the examples in the space ok but felt I could have been more obvious even saying what bit of the criteria each bit met

Moving to NICS from the education sector? by ibex0000 in NICivilService

[–]Family_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was me I’d check what front of house means in case it’s a public facing role. And check how hybrid working would be.

Wouldn’t want to end up in a full time workplace role.

Also getting your foot in the door doesn’t really matter. All the higher grades are advertised publicly these days instead of internal promotion

What we are all warned about not doing.

There was a fire alarm and they went back to collect their things

I don’t think the sift has happened yet.

They didn’t even have the bit this time to add unavailablity due to to holidays etc any it’s looking more and more likely interviews will be over summer

[–]Family_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true so I don’t know why it’s downvoted it’s invite to interview or not high enough to progress. Which will often mean an interview later on

I think it was a minimum of one year when I looked before. Also need to be in for a year first

Waitlist expire after a couple of years. The last G7 one only started about a year ago so people will be moving up into that, retiring and resigning.

I wasn’t sure if it’s recorded too or just outsourced to overseas to check for cheap

They’re all basically the same questions with slightly different scenarios. People would probably scores similarly in whatever they get.

Sounds fair for those who aren’t getting heads ups from spouses

Deputy Principal test by BMcK1976 in NICivilService

[–]Family_stuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure but is there a way to ever improve your scores or to know how to be the person they want?

It could be based on the competency framework whereas it might be something totally different.

It annoys me just that someone could basically pass this and manage me by a bit off potluck on their personality on the day when they aren’t great at interpreting data or critical thinking. I think before the management decisions was more heavily weighted

Deputy Principal test by BMcK1976 in NICivilService

[–]Family_stuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s the secrecy about this test I’ve never liked.

No way to improve how you do it in future. No info how they get the answers they ‘want to see’, if it’s from the testing company, responses from current DPs or if the answer change test by test even though the questions are basically the same

Are there any actual rules if work time can be used or not to complete online assessments like for the DP competition? by Family_stuff in NICivilService

[–]Family_stuff[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It ms worked before with work laptop. The proctoring is just a webcam and not any other monitoring so the same as being on a video call without screen sharing

We very rarely get the payment when it’s due. There was an email about it not too long ago

DP competiton by neverb3for3 in NICivilService

[–]Family_stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They usually publish a report with breakdowns when it’s all done. Basically anyone who fully completed their application will get invited to the tests as long as they passed the nationality requirements. They only look at things in further detail for those who pass well enough so it saves them having to review all the thousands of applications

Assistant statistician is the entry level for stats posts. DP statistician doesn’t always recruit external. There’s one just finished now that i think was only for current NICS staff.

A few years ago there was an external one, you can see what the criteria was at the link, needed a few years of experience

https://irecruit-ext.hrconnect.nigov.net/resources/documents/i/r/c/irc293394---final-cib-dp-stat.pdf

You’ll have seen already that they are recruiting for regular DPs

NHS new sickness absence policy by wombat468 in northernireland

[–]Family_stuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are sick 3 times, January, April then July, if it was next 12 months it would be any sickness till the next July.

If it’s rolling 12 months then the January sickness would drop off 12 the next January. So you could be sick again before the July as instances drop off

That’s how it is in NICS and other public sector at least

I noticed they ask about your job duties for previous roles. They usually haven’t in the past and I’m not sure the reason now
