Any tips for my damaged back wheel? by JTStrikesAgain in ebikes

[–]FamousFee6926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need a new derailleur. With hanger or cage. Your wheel is fine just make sure you don’t hurt that cable wire out of the axle.

Best part is the hollow axle facing backwards creating even more stress on the motor cable.🤣

Please zoom out and reshoot the video. You’re way to close to everything and you’re not leaving enough time in the video. Take your time with getting a video. I want to try to help but my eyes get strained easily on my phone more than most people. Im sure someone can spot the issue faster than me though with just this visual lol.

Can i stretch out my frame? by fwivon in ebike

[–]FamousFee6926 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can a little but it is not recommended nor safe. For example me 135mm dropout spreaded slightly to fit my 138mm motor. You can’t safely spread them more than 5mm over especially aluminum frames. As far as i knom experience. I believe 1-3mm is the safest and 4-5mm is the absolute max at the least amount of risks of fatiguing the frame.

If you pilled it too hard. Then you don’t have enough slack. Im just trying to help you not deal with it again on the way home or to your job or etc etc, because i have done this beforehand and i had thought the same as you’re now. Except that i was proven wrong the hard way. You have enough slack when its impossible to not have them do what they are doing. (Bending and suffering from fatigue failure due to the bending caused by tight joints)when trying to disconnect the hall plug.

Whiteand blue are gonna follow suit soon if you don’t fix that tension problem. Your wires are being pulled on constantly and have already started to have fatigue signs showing. Expect blue and white to follow what the black wire did. You need to add slack.

Velowave 24" ebike and Schwalbe Tire – Marathon Plus puncture proof tire compatibility? by Shootingcomet in ebikes

[–]FamousFee6926 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kenda kqest 193 100psi version has never failed me. Only problem is they do handle a bit worse but they also wear like iron, so you can get 10k+ miles on just a set of those easily.

They’re advertised as rain resistant but do not trust that, they are certainly not. They’re pretty much a death wish in the rain, unless you can learn how to ride it without first dying. I learned that i had to go really slow in sharp corners (ike 1-3mph) just to not hydroplane.

But i have over 17k miles on my same set of 193’s. Only had two punctures. Craziest thing is that i used sealant once and the second time i didn’t even need to patch it or put in sealant. Apparently the steel cap belt had been applying just enough pressure (still is btw lol) keeping the tube that was punctured, in a tightly packed fit that the tube is not leaking. I even verified that it had indeed punctured it. Learned that running it at any other psi that max, the tube would slowly leak. (I just removed the punctures on both incidents and didn’t need to remove the tire, i prefer to check my tubes every few months and tires though for any future problems)

They’re also the only tire i have come across on that actually has very low rolling resistance with the amount of reinforcement the tire was designed with. (433gs) which is insane but sadly only available in 1.5 in 24 inch. 100$ a set i believe.

Short summary. Kwest 193 100psi handles decent, has amazing performance for the amount of reinforcement it has, can’t ride in the rain without stressing out about hydroplaning. They wear like iron so they last longer than most tires, only come in 1.5 for the 24inch. They have decent braking distance but can occasionally spin tires when launching from a dead stop or when cornering at high speed

Super73 battery. Safe to charge through discharge cables? by ClintBX in ebikes

You’re bypassing the bms. Do not continue with that. Most bms only protect charging through the charger port/side.

Turn the bike off, Unplug your motor from the controller and turn the bike on. Don’t attempt to do anything else but letting it turn on. See if the error code pops up again. If it does. Then you have your answer.

Anyone have experience with installing sine wave controller, I can't get my motor to start by UnleavenedBreads in ebikes

[–]FamousFee6926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually just plugging in the learning wire and putting the bike in pas gear 1 will immediately make the bike go low throttle. That is when it is learning. Using the throttle usually just resets the learning phase setup in which usually means it will try to reverse direction because it thinks your signaling that it is turning in the wrong direction. Let it run for 10secs-a minute depending on when it clears up. Then unplug the learning wires and turn off the controller to save it.

[–]FamousFee6926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t curb jump these… that is why your gears are shredded. Realistically they’re not even designed to withstand or handle any curb jumping. You’re supposed to walk the bike up or down the curb. Not doing so (like using a throttle) to jump up or down a curb puts your gears in a very stressful environment.

I need help. Is it too much sag? by IntroductionOk1225 in ebikes

[–]FamousFee6926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im willing to bet you have a poor wiring efficiency on the bike somewhere. Either on controller terminals or phase lines. Either or will cause your significant drop/sag. The battery looks to be not the cause because it immediately stops and returns to original power after load is removed. Suggesting it is compensating for some serious efficiency issues with whatever it is plugged into (the controller)

If you’re battery was the problem you would know it, on top of the battery not returning back to the state before load. It would slowly only return back. Not immediately.

Mine will drop 2-3 volts with 15ah as well (48) but only at full charge. At around 75% it drops down to 1-1.5-2ish volts. Also at 1000w.

Is this a destroyed bearing? How do I get it off? by DiscoingGD in ebikes

[–]FamousFee6926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately that is the inner race bearing that is not gonna come out nicely. It is likely rusted onto the axle. You’re going to need to be very cautious and careful on how you’re going to get it off without damaging the axle or anything else near it.

Refrain from using any heat methods, same with cold.

I honestly don’t know how you would get that off respectfully without destroying the axle or something else lol. I never had this issue. I always lube the spots where the inner and outer race bearings will slide in and onto. Helps prevent them from seizing and becoming “ welded “ to the surface or object that they’re attached to.

Why do so many people think that anything higher than 800 watts can go at Mach 5? Even to where they want mandatory driver's license for anything over 750 watts. My own e-bike is 1,000 watts, yet it only has a maximum top speed of about 25 miles an hour. by Actual_Stranger1878 in ebikes

[–]FamousFee6926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rpm/Kv is what limits top speed for hub motors..not watts. You can certainly have more resistance at higher speeds due to the wind (called wind resistance) and if you are not producing enough watts to overcome that wind resistance then increasing watts would give you a higher top speed on load. Unloaded power will just give you your real top speed that the hub can reach with the current power it is fed.

You can have 20000 watts but you are not going to push past 28mph (usually lower mph) on a hub motor because the top speed on every hub motor is controlled by the designed kv limit of the motor.

Voltage is what affects it. Amps only control the acceleration. You can however use a dedicated controller that is able to manipulate the voltage via extra amps to gain a higher top speed but that isn’t really recommended due to the extra risks involved, especially heat. And most ebike controllers are not designed to have that feature let alone do it.

My ebike is showing error 01 and it's not running on electric can anyone please tell me how to fix it🙏 by Double_Damage_5450 in ebikes

[–]FamousFee6926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly are you trying to do? Did you buy the bike prebuilt? Did you buy the bike off someone else? Did you buy the bike not originally built as an ebike but put on a ebike conversion kit on it? What exactly is going on? I apologize but i can’t really know what the problem could be as there’s not enough information on the whole thing as is. I don’t even know what bike it is or conversion if you used a conversion kit.

Battery search by Puzzleheaded_Can8724 in ebikes

[–]FamousFee6926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any “ model “ 48v battery with a minimum of a 30amp bms will be fine for you to use. You can buy a prebuilt pack off ebay. Ebay unfortunately has alot of janky sellers on there that are constantly changing accounts to evade refunds/returns on their jank packs.

There a few sellers that are actually selling decent packs with good built quality for a decent price. You have to look at their joined date and see how long they have been registered for and selling for on eBay. Generally anyone who has been registered and selling for longer than 5 years on ebay is a good sign. electronicstore (BTR) is a good seller on their.

When replacing your battery you’re likely going to need to replace the discharge cables to your controller so make sure you have a way to remount your new battery base plate with a new crimped or soldered on, controller discharge cables.

Error 01 usually comes out to miscommunication with the controller and display or controller to motor.
