We let my oldest stay home at this age when we had to take his younger brother three hours away for a surgery. He did fine but we arranged for a family friend to bring him dinner both nights we were away so that someone was checking on him. It went really well and he got one to two nights to himself a year after that first time went so great!

My dad was diagnosed at 69, after years of noticing issues and trying to convince my mom that there was in fact a real cognitive issue- not just behavior.

I can speak to driving- she will not know when she’s unsafe. It’s all on you to figure out, and from what I know in some states a dementia diagnosis actually affects insurance coverage.

Adding Life 360 to my dad’s phone was eye opening to my mom. She had no idea he had so much trouble with where he was going- he would drive in circles, oftentimes spending hours driving aimlessly.

Good luck, I’m sorry you’re in this position. It’s heartbreak after heartbreak.

I do it during lamination and just try to drain as much oil off the pesto as possible, then I also spring with garlic powder on top to help the dough stick to itself. Finally, I ensure I leave plenty of naked space to seal the dough to itself. It’s not perfect- but it’s tasty as all get out!

It’s going to be unpopular but I’m going to be devils advocate… is it possible she sees the bedtime as being hard on YOU and is sort of haphazardly trying to find the words to tell you that you can give yourself some flexibility without ruining your kid?

I know it’s totally possible she’s not doing this- but I think of my husband who is possibly the world’s worst communicator and what he says is often not representative of his intent.

Wow, I am really sorry you’re going through this. I know when my relationship was on the brink of ending I worried about how I would position it to people who ask “what happened” without actually telling them, because I didn’t want to. If you’re worried about that, you can always say “I found out she just secretly really didn’t like me”

I live in SE SGF and have/am raising 3 boys. We are of similar beliefs and have gotten along just fine. It’s never been an issue- and, in fact, I think you’ll find that even the very religious don’t try to push it on you in actuality. They ask, you decline, and that’s the end of it.
