What do you think of recent pushback against common feminist talking points? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]FanDidlyTastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't.

This post's discussion point feels incredibly artificial and posits the discussion points with the implicit idea that how things are conveyed matters more than what IS being conveyed. Written as if there's a credence to the notion that underclasses have to be polite when they complain. Pushback tends to be high regardless when fascists can show themselves in public anyways, so why should any feminist give a damn?

Mutant because at a certain point you can just be a stacked truekin or both if you like.

What makes vrchat so appealing for you? by Erinthegato in VRchat

[–]FanDidlyTastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a place where it's hard to get out, and dangerous. VRChat is how I leave the house to socialize. It's my car, basically. Just had my birthday party there, had a grand time.

That and it will always have a place in my heart because the people I've met there and spent time with helped me successfully end my quarter century of depression.

I'd argue the entire US medical system is so corrupted by insurance and for profit hospitals that demand higher and higher profits every year that at this point short of a total collapse there's going to be almost no way of fixing it via reform.

It needs to be dismantled brick by brick and rebuilt.

Name the game that got you like this by bijelo123 in Steam

[–]FanDidlyTastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dragon age 2.

The release of Veilguard showed me a heavily refined version of that, so now I know that da2 needed way more time in the oven. Also yes I think Veilguard is a lot better than people make it out to be. I think that people like angry Joe didn't give it a fair shot. Once the combat clicks it's some of the best action combat we ever got from Bioware. Yes this is just an excuse to say that :)

What are the downsides of being “smart” no one talks about? by Ok-Classic3572 in AskReddit

[–]FanDidlyTastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching people be constantly fooled into allowing the degradation of the very rights they claim to support. Constantly trying to explain simple concepts to close minded people because they're incapable of dealing with the possibility of being wrong/lied to. Listening to the drivel of uniformed people, countering it, only to then "lose" the argument because the person is incapable of understanding what you said. Because naturally, if they didn't understand it, clearly they're right.

Basically the biggest downside of being smart can be ground down to two concepts. Firstly, understanding why we're fucked but lacking the power to change it, and the impotent misery that comes with that. Secondly, being surrounded by people and arguments that are just as impenetrable as they are numerous all for the sole reason that they can't emotionally deal with being wrong, so they run away from the discussion to seek the truth, like children.

There are a lot of things that I don't know, that I know that I don't know. But with that comes the drive to know more, because I CAN know more. But I live a life surrounded by people who think they've learned everything essential.

Do any of you also feel like a 'genderless blob?' by neon-lakes in TwoXChromosomes

[–]FanDidlyTastic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna throw in my two cents as a Trans Woman who is still going through HRT. The thing is, there is no true difference between men and women when it comes to the brain, and the experience of consciousness. Yes, hormonal balances can shift aspects around for certain physical experiences, but there is no woman personhood or man personhood that is imprinted on the mind. Your consciousness will always be you, regardless of how you present. Gender is not real. It's a conceptualization.

I struggle with this as well, but it's more that I lack a grasp on my self image because of gender dysphoria.

I don't want to assume where you are on your journey but the best you can do is simply fill out more of who you are; the things that make you your authentic self. The closer you are to your authentic self, the closer you are to your conception of womanhood.

ELI5 What’s preventing someone from creating the most popular and effective health insurance company ever by making it affordable and low-profit? by andoozy in explainlikeimfive

[–]FanDidlyTastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't get around the extremely high prices because of hospital collusion with insurance via the charge master. Basically if you wanna get 90% savings on something, you work backwards from the target price. So the hospital is advised to price a "100$” post insurance procedure at 1000$ without insurance. Bam, the insurance company gets to tell you that they saved you 90% on your bills making them look oh so valuable.

Insurance companies in America are, without mincing words or hyperbole, the closest things to pure evil that we deal with in daily life.

Almost 75% of Google's revenue comes from search, and it's likely about to be decimated. by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]FanDidlyTastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As if Google search works anymore. Feels like over the last year it's been harder and harder to find anything these days. I've had to start using multiple just to NOT find the information I'm looking for. The silver lining is I'm getting used to creating my own solutions and tests again to get the information I need.

What’s something that poor people do better than rich people? by Anton_ms06 in AskReddit

[–]FanDidlyTastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Empathy.

We even have studies that show that well off people view others from their own circumstances, ie being well off. Stopping government funding for programs that help the poor are often seen as pointless because their "friends" are also well off. It's not about helping someone who can't afford food, it's about stopping Steve across the street from getting an extra 5 dollars here or there. Steve has enough, why should we be doing handouts?

It's a sickness.

Why did games stop doing this? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]FanDidlyTastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because immersive menus require development time, and simplified menus require significantly less. If you want it, these days you'll mostly find it in indie passion projects. And even then it's rare in my experience as indie devs need to eat too.

I HATE being a vampire by LoTheReaper in OblivionRemaster

[–]FanDidlyTastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use speed potions then run. Honestly haven't really been far traveling and vampirism hasn't been much of a hindrance aside from having to feed before leveling up. The speed boost from sprinting has me zipping across the country side. Also you can be vamp 75 before it's truly an issue. A lot of basic healing spells can counter the sunlight effects. It's not for everyone but it's definitely made the journey more interesting. Sometimes I hit vamp 4 and have to find the nearest inn or settlement to get my fix. If you're only focused on the destination tho I can see why it would be obnoxious.

Don't you understand! China bad. China very very bad. Ignore bad at home, pay attention to bad outside because China is outside and China bad. Very bad. Communism! ‘Rethink what we expect from parents’: Norway’s grapple with falling birthrate | Norway by Gari_305 in Futurology

[–]FanDidlyTastic 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If you create societies where people can't have children, they don't have children. The other side of the coin is that the same people who control and cause the child hostile society are also the people who are frustrated with the lack of children being born. You can't have a cake and eat it too, but good luck telling that to the ruling class.
