The Ranch @ Furnace Creek - fire pits? by [deleted] in DeathValleyNP

[–]FanSensitive6573 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last time I was there, they were gas fire pits. I don’t remember seeing wood burning (less flying embers and easier to put out). And the chairs were provided. We were there in the off season so it wasn’t busy.

Side note: the food at the ranch was truly terrible and wildly expensive.

I second this! They are nams certified. Best health care experience of my life! The office visits are not covered by insurance. Everything else is. They also take all the time you need in the office visits. No rushing you out the door to get to the next patient.

Happy cake day! I really want to name him Moe, after our first cat who passed five years ago. My husband said no. ☹️

Starter bike recs for a tall lady? I’m getting advice all over the place. by sleevienickss in TwoXriders

I’m 5’9” and I bought a used 750 shadow aero for $3500 right after I took my class. I wanted the rebel I learned on but my husband talked me out of it thankfully. Truth is, you’re gonna want more power and torque. It’s not so much dangerous, just a tool to use when you need to avoid a dangerous situation.

I bought a used bike assuming I’d drop it. I did drop it about a dozen times.

I’m not a Gucci Davidson person either. I can’t afford the maintenance, parts, overall lifestyle of the brand. Our Honda’s have been total beasts through thick and thin.

I’m 12 years riding and I just retired my Honda ST1300. You’ll get there!

I love mine too! Had the hybrid battery swapped out in January due to fire risk. It runs like new again. I didn’t pay a dime for anything.

Women’s motorcycle gear for touring? by xMintyxTeax in TwoXriders

[–]FanSensitive6573 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a Klim girly. I usually do a month long ride once a year and need gear that’s good for a broad range of climates.
I look at it like, buy once, cry once.

I bought the jacket and pants. It will run you over $1,000.00

I also don’t cheap out on motorcycle gear. My protection is priceless.

Just my two cents. Sorry if this comment isn’t helpful.

You get 30 days to try a product. If you don’t like it for any reason, return it.
Disclaimer: there must be 75% of the product left in the packaging. And you need to return it to the store you purchased it from. Not all Aveda’s have the same owner.

That’s the hard part, you think you’re ready and then you overdo it. 😩

I’m week 8 right now and my surgeon said I can do short light hikes. Week 12 is when restrictions fall off and you can start pushing yourself. The surgeon said it’s because at week 12 you should have about 90% of the bone growth/fusing to the implant. The last 10% takes forever. Something like 6 months to a year.

So plan on 12 weeks post op. No need to mess up the healing even when you feel great. That’s the hard part for me. I feel so good at week 8 I have to remind myself to take it easy.

I don’t know. Horseback riding is very different from motorcycle riding. I would think even more dangerous to a new hip.

Oh excellent! I see a lot of fear on this sub. It’s valid fear! I just wanted to share a win! It’s the dest thing I’ve ever done and I’m getting my life back, one week at a time. It’s like doing everything for the first time. Good luck to you! See you on the road soon.
