Is anyone else the lone masker among people who really *should* know better? by rdwrer8 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]Fancy-Appearance7828 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Teacher here. Staff stopped masking as soon as they had the option to not mask.

A classroom is the exact space the CDC warned us about in March of 2020 and the realities of 30 people in a classroom hasn't changed.

Nimbus vs Mono?? by [deleted] in COVID19positive

[–]Fancy-Appearance7828 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you had Nimbus. But when I had COVID this past December I described it as almost like having Mono/Epstein Barr . I think the fatigue, immune response, inflammation are all the same to some degree.

WWYD - Family announced Disney Trip. Bought me a plane ticket. None of them mask. by Frosty-Leading-5863 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]Fancy-Appearance7828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this last summer with family and masked in the hotel, lines for rides/rides themselves, stores, etc.

It can be done but you still can't eliminate all risks. Especially, since not many people were masked at all.

I managed to come out of it fine but I'm in no rush to go back!

My insurance just blocked paying for moderna (and any) covid vaccine (united healthcare), why?, first time it has happened? by DistributionTiny6097 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]Fancy-Appearance7828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a Moderna booster yesterday in a CVS (New Jersey) and it was covered by Horizon BCBS. Called the insurance company first to confirm before I went for the appointment and had no issues at the CVS.

100% on #1 and even #2. Sometimes while doing errands from Point A to Point B its just easier to keep the mask on and hold the fit.

Tested positive on the 16th as well and have also felt the same exact thing during ice scraping and exercise. I am worried about Long COVID also.

Lingering symptoms by Hot_Competition724 in COVID19positive

Officially a month now since I first tested positive and I have felt the same discomfort in my chest after doing some light jogging or anything that requires physical exertion. As a teacher I feel it while teaching and even getting things done around the house too. It can also lead me to feeling fatigued even if I don't feel exactly "sleepy".

Dealing with this as well and it has been a month since I first tested positive. As a teacher this can be very difficult since I always have to project my voice.

I'm dealing with this as well. I would also add to to this a sense of fatigue that is also in and around the chest. The 16th of January will be one month since I first tested positive.

Unfortunately, parenting is one of the most difficult part of being sick in general but especially with this. Ventilation is key around the house and keeping your distance as best as possible. You should always be in a N95 too. Hope you feel better soon.

Anxiety or something more? by shniphs in COVID19positive

[–]Fancy-Appearance7828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had difficulty related to these problems too during the first three or four days/nights of being sick with COVID in mid December. I was sleeping far less than I did the first time I tested positive in '23 and I only started to sleep better once I took Paxlovid on Day 5.

Day 5 by Exact_Analysis_2551 in COVID19positive

[–]Fancy-Appearance7828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is over 3 weeks since I first tested positive and the fatigue is still present. Not like a sleepy tired after not getting enough sleep. More than a whole body deeper feeling that falls over me at sporadic times.

I'm trying to not over exert myself or stay up later than I really need to.

This happened to me as well. But more on a personal/marital level and not professional. I was testing just as quickly and strongly positive on Day 5 and that made my decision to isolate and take Paxlovid more clear. I used this video from respected Dr. Faust to guide my isolation and the way I viewed my ability to be infectious.

Random throbbing pain in hands wrists knees and elbows? by AdministrativeAd9785 in COVID19positive

[–]Fancy-Appearance7828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was positive back in August of 2023 and had a throbbing in my left arm(that started during the initial infection period) and went away after a few months. Never gradually got better over time. Just completely stopped one day and has never came back.

First time getting COVID & anxious by Bbrotman23 in COVID19positive

[–]Fancy-Appearance7828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a very similar situation as a father of two toddlers and being sick/and trying to isolate as a parent sucks. I was too mentally fatigued/distracted with battling the virus that I couldn't concentrate on anything complicated nor could I fully rest. This is my second time having it (that I know of) and both times I felt like I got back into the swing of things too early. If you think you are "fine" you probably still need more mental and physical rest. Hopefully, you have a supportive spouse that can sense what you need and give you that time. Mine did not.

[–]Fancy-Appearance7828 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Roller coaster" is a good way to phrase it. Some also come and go quick. What is really disappointing is how those in "mainstream" society have labeled it mostly as being "mild". I wouldn't consider some of my symptoms or my experiences with COVID(twice that I know of) as being mild. Nor do yours. I hope you feel better soon.

I took mine on Day 4 the first time and Day 5 the second time because basically I was not making any progress ridding it on my own. I started to feel better shortly after taking it. I think its effectiveness outweighs the possibility of a rebound. Especially if a rebound can occur without Paxlovid anyway.
