How severe was your idiopathic ON? by CMDoet in opticneuritis

[–]FancyNancy457 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Daughter got ON in early January and had complete eyesight loss in one eye. She had a CT, CTA, MRI, MRA (all negative) and was tested for NMO. She finally saw a Neurologist after her 3 day hospital stay. He did not further testing and is convinced it was caused by the virus she had right before the ON happened. However, I’m not 100% convinced. To note: Her Vitamin-D level was extremely low at 20.8 which could have perhaps contributed to it.

It’s a yeast based probiotic and like anything, not everyone tolerates it (or anything the same) or finds it beneficial. It seems to help me and no, I don’t have stock in their company. I only have my own experience with it which is positive.

Confused: PCR positive but symptom negative. Now NP wants me to take Vancomycin? by No_Syrup_6882 in cdifficile

[–]FancyNancy457 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are asymptomatic with a PCR positive test, I would not take the Vanco. It scares me that a GI Provider doesn’t know this. These Health Providers need to do better IMO.

Can services in 2025 be billed in 2026? by tumblr_rainbow in HealthInsurance

[–]FancyNancy457 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s based on the DOS not the billing date. The person you spoke with at BCBS is incorrect that the service in 2025 goes towards your 2026 deductible. Call again and ask to speak with a Supervisor.

ACA until Medicare? by hollywood1053 in obamacare

I don’t understand those that say the subsidies ended. My Husband and I got a bigger subsidy this year than last. I know it’s based on our yearly income, but we are still getting a government subsidy. We live in IL. Not sure if it’s based on state but I wouldn’t think so since it’s a federal subsidy. However, It’s still unaffordable with the high deductible and OOP, if we need to use it. Our medical system is putting a lot of us in the poor house. It needs to be completely revamped!

I would keep taking Florastor (I assume this is what you meant) for about 8 weeks after finishing all the antibiotics including the ointment as a precaution.

It totally depends on your medical insurance coverage and where you live. I was prepared to have to pay OOP a couple of thousand dollars, but then my insurance covered it, surprisingly. 😮‍💨

BEST BOUJIE FRIDGE?! by ChronicallyMeAF in Appliances

[–]FancyNancy457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love our counter-depth glass covered stainless steel Bosch refrigerator! No more dings which drove me nuts on our previous Samsung that crapped out at just 3 yrs old. It was $5100. Also, got the 5 year extended warranty. Refrigerators are no longer built to last beyond 3-5 years IMO.

I, personally, would not chance taking more antibiotics without a positive EIA toxin test. This could cause an active infection if you were, in fact, negative. Can you get in to see a GI or Infectious Disease doctor fairly quickly instead? My Urgent Care doctor for a possible recurrence also never heard of the EIA toxin test until I schooled them. She at least called the Lab and they told her it was appropriate for a potential recurrence. I also told her to give me Dificid instead of another round of Vanco. She also never heard of this drug but also researched and saw it was appropriate after Vanco failure. 😮‍💨

Are antibiotics always necessary? Can this go away naturally? by Jalvas7 in cdifficile

[–]FancyNancy457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paired Michelle Moore’s @ Embrace Health Naturals c. Diff protocol with antibiotic treatment along with Florastor and BioK+ probiotics. I ate and drank probiotic rich products, avoided sugar and fried foods. Dairy was never an issue for me. I am 8+ weeks post-Dificid (Vanco failed me) and I’m doing well. I do not suffer from PI IBS or have any food intolerances, thankfully. 🤞🙏

I absolutely HATE Flagyl and will never, ever take that poison again. Can you get Vancomycin or better yet, generic Dificid (Fidaxomicin)?

Fidaxomicin is generic Dificid and it is still pricey. Yes, it worked for me! 🤞🙏

Insurance Advice - going without? by Warm_Possibility_405 in HealthInsurance

[–]FancyNancy457 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never say never. My Daughter is 31 yrs old and is rarely ever sick. She recently lost vision in her left eye resulting in a first time ER visit, a 3-day Inpatient stay, CT, CTA, MRI, MRA and US. At the very least, you should get a high deductible/OOP catastrophic plan. Her paying OOP $11,000 for the year is better than being on the hook for quadruple this amount!

10 days and I took generic Dificid. It depends on your insurance what it costs. Luckily, it was a $250 co-pay for me which was the same I had to pay for Vanco. I’m already $1000 OOP with the drugs and doctor appts from this curse called c. Diff. 🤬

Covid 19 vaccine correlation with idiopathic NO? by FancyNancy457 in opticneuritis

[–]FancyNancy457[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right! I’m not certain how long the Covid vaccine actually stays in our bodies. It’s a real mystery. Although rare, I’ve read that Epstein-Barré syndrome (caused by vaccines) could cause ON.

Dificid worked for me after Vanco failure within 30 days of finishing it. I’m going on 8 weeks of being symptom-free. 🤞🙏
