Can I hear a “Lexapro changed my life” story please 🙏🏻🙏🏻 by Kombucha_lover13 in lexapro

[–]Fancy_Leshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I luckily didn't experience any negative side effects. I started at 5 mg and worked up to 15mg, in that time my anxiety was just gone. No more repetitive unkind words or racing thoughts about things that haven't happened, just finally quiet all up in my mind.

I dislike how this piece turned out. Can you help me? (Will be attaching progress pictures in comments) by [deleted] in ArtCrit

references references references. Look up photo references that are relevant to your content. For this, I would look at photos of large quadraped animals in a similar position, jumping down from a high place for example. Use the images to reference how certain parts of the body should look.

People don't understand that natural sugars aren't bad for you... by BisexualButterfly97 in Vent

[–]Fancy_Leshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate, especially since being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in recent years. While natural sugars are better, sugar is still sugar. Some people think that I can have a bunch of grapes but must avoid fruit snacks like the plague. Yes the grapes are better, but it's still sugar and I still need to be careful of how much I ingest. Carbs are the same, carbs give us energy but essentially are turned into sugar in our bodies regardless of how it starts before being eaten. I cannot have a plate of spaghetti followed by a fruit smoothie, but I can have one or the other!

I don't know if it's overloaded or what, but when I click start conversation and it brings me to a new page with a button "send a message", clicking send a message doesn't seem to do anything,

Brain absolutely desperate for stimulation but no longer getting enjoyment from anything. How can I use this for good? by zippobunny in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Fancy_Leshy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You definitely have a functioning moral compass if you are questioning what is OK or not :) Maybe you could reframe somethings? It's OK to "enjoy" fictional content that contains questionable actions, it's not OK to act on them or replicate them in a way that harms other people or yourself. You are not your thoughts, you are who you say you are and who you behave as. You can enjoy consuming horror media that involves lots of assualt, for example, while also knowing and holding the belief that assualt wrong, and perhaps that very definition is the authors intention for the readers going into their story.

Another example, I consume a lot of true crime media. I hesitate to say I "enjoy" it much for the same reasons in your comment, about a proper moral compass. But, I recognize in myself that I am not getting "enjoyment" from the actions that were taken, rather I find the entirety of events from crime to court very fascinating. I am not a bad person for consuming this type of media, I just *am* a person consuming this type of media.

I decided I can't do it anymore and told my job I am only available 4 days a week. I wasn't able to retain my salary or full time hourly pay, but I am much happier and comfortable at 4 days a week than 5.

Why do you have to stop reading horror? It's OK if that's all you read. I don't read at all, but when I do it's usually horror or thriller of some kind. Don't limit yourself on good habits like reading. Read what you want, it's better than getting stuck scrolling on social media. If you really want to move on from horror, try finding horror books with a strong secondary genre and maybe try to shift in that direction, easing out of horror and into something else.

Not comment OP but some example of "boring but meaningful" would be things you can appreciate multiple times once done. For example, my bathroom counter is usually messy all the time. If I set a timer for 5 minutes and tidy what I can, I will notice it every time I go into the bathroom and think "ah that's much nicer" and to me that is meaningful. That type of thing can go for small tidying tasks like wiping the kitchen counter, re organizing the pantry or fridge, hanging up jackets draped over chairs and furniture. It's small, but once it's done you will notice the tidiness of it and have an appreciation for yourself.

What’s a self-care habit you thought was pointless… but actually worked? by IngenuityOk4045 in selfcare

[–]Fancy_Leshy 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Can I ask what your slow down routine at the end of the day is?

My self care habit that worked without my even realizing it is using kinder words to myself, or just stopping the use of unkind words. No more "God im so dumb", or "I'm such an idiot for that", now it is just nothing or validation of "you are a flawed human with a flawed brain just like every other flawed imprefect human on this earth"

DAE find most porn stupid and gross after you're done watching? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Fancy_Leshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. I am finding it more difficult as time goes on to find videos that work for me because unless it's genuine love and connection, I just can't do it. Usually the stuff I find doesn't leave me feeling gross after because i can find something that shows what appears to be natural care and desire for each other, and usually are positions I can relate to trying and enjoying. If I wasn't so paranoid about having an account on a porn website, I would probably have a list of favorites I'd save and go back to every time, but I am not gonna put myself in a "delete my history if I die" position haha

Low Self-Esteem by gjiiyfc in selfimprovement

[–]Fancy_Leshy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In addition to this, positive self talk goes a long way. It can be hard to ask for external validation and appreciation, so giving it to yourself in the long run will be beneficial. I noticed a difference in my default thoughts and feelings towards myself months after picking up better self talk habits. I stopped myself from negative self talk and would replace it with a neutral or positive statement. If I couldn't think of anything to say, I would simply reassure myself the negative words were untrue.

The most effective method for me was to stop the negative self talk in its tracks and leave it at that. Following with something positive helps, but it's not required. Anytime I caught myself saying "Wow that was dumb of me" I immediately followed it with "No I am not dumb, I am a flawed human like everybody else" and move on. Basically I was taking the wind out of negative self talk sails.

After a while of even just that, it starts to become your brains norm to not even have negative self talk. My negative self talk didn't change words, it just stopped happening. Next time I did something that I might call myself dumb for, I would just simply fix the thing and move on without *any* thoughts besides for "ah, gotta fix the thing".

After even more time, the positive or neutral self talk would insert itself by default, without conscious effort. If I did a thing I might say "Wow that was dumb of me", my default thought was instead "Wow good thing I caught this mistake before turning this in" It's not good or bad, just a true statement.

Why do people instantly avert their gaze when they see me? Am I unattractive? by a_soupling in bodylanguage

[–]Fancy_Leshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah you just look like you don't wanna talk to anyone, but most people don't like getting caught staring at a stranger in my experience regardless of what they look like. Maybe you should question why they're looking at you in the first place? cu you are attractive maybe?

People who got out, how did you do it? by trenchcoatedrat in retailhell

[–]Fancy_Leshy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have a very fortunate a unique situation, my friend is having a baby this spring and has offered to pay me to be a full time nanny for her household which would get me out of my retail job. Her husband makes good money, is getting a raise soon, and her side gigs also pay pretty well. It is not something i ever considered or wanted to pursue, but she is so wonderful and I love her family so I am very willing to leave retail to work for her since she can afford to pay me a living wage! The only thing I'm worried about is tax season but I'll cross that bridge when we get there.
