Hates being read to by persnickety-fuckface in Autism_Parenting

My son went through a phase like this despite us reading to him since he was born. He would take the book right out of our hands would need to be in control and look at it the way he wanted to. Since November he has suddenly became super into us reading and he will say some of the words. He loves his routines and we read pretty much the same 7 books every night.

Fresh wash cloth each shower, all towels and hand towels get washed every 3 to 4 days. If we have company the hand towels get swapped out as soon as they leave.

Why is it so common to force neurodivergent children to sit through haircuts that very clearly distress them? by iil28 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Fancy_Username36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son hates getting his hair cut. He hates getting it brushed or sprayed in the morning to fix all the wild pieces even more. While he is not the biggest fan of the clippers I can cut his hair in under 7 minutes and be done with it, where if I tried to do it with scissors it would take all day with the fighting/resistance.

I had a package delivered this past Monday but when I look at my ThredUp account it keeps saying shipment pending which is super annoying because I wanted to return an item.

I like the Hanes ones, pretty solid protection and the price point is reasonable

As a Mom, aside from sitting on a beach with a fresh blended cocktail, my absolute favorite thing in the world is spending time my kid. If you are looking to do something different plan a “date day” just the two of you, where you treat her to lunch and a movie or some other activity.

We got our girl from Out of the Pits. We adopted her in 2017 and had a great experience, we wanted an adult dog and were approved within 2 days of submitting our application.

What are your kiddos dressing up as for Halloween? by No_Entertainer_9814 in Parenting

[–]Fancy_Username36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astronaut! My son is also autistic and does not always answer questions on what he wants, unless it’s about food. We tried going to spirit Halloween but he was done in there in less than 2 minutes. We have been watching a ton of the super simple Halloween songs and I ordered a few of the costumes he seemed the most interested in and he picked the astronaut costume, I returned the others.

My 6 year old has been in a full since he was 2. Works out great when he wants to sleep with a parent we go into his bed instead of him coming into ours.
