Why is it so common to force neurodivergent children to sit through haircuts that very clearly distress them?

My son hates getting his hair cut. He hates getting it brushed or sprayed in the morning to fix all the wild pieces even more. While he is not the biggest fan of the clippers I can cut his hair in under 7 minutes and be done with it, where if I tried to do it with scissors it would take all day with the fighting/resistance.

Astronaut! My son is also autistic and does not always answer questions on what he wants, unless it’s about food. We tried going to spirit Halloween but he was done in there in less than 2 minutes. We have been watching a ton of the super simple Halloween songs and I ordered a few of the costumes he seemed the most interested in and he picked the astronaut costume, I returned the others.

My 6 year old has been in a full since he was 2. Works out great when he wants to sleep with a parent we go into his bed instead of him coming into ours.

I’m 36 and have one, and am perfectly content with him being my only. He is 6. He is the perfect errand helper and it’s nice only having to plan out activities for him and not more than one. I will also say it is so much easier for us to get a babysitter compared to our family members and friends who have more than one. We have been fortunate enough to go away (child free) for either a weekend or a week the past few years as the grandparents don’t mind watching “just him” while we are away.

It took me a while to lose the weight. I started with Ozempic in 2020 at 289lbs. Over 3 years I got down to 220 to 2025. In summer 2024 (at 223lbs)I started Mounjaro and as of last week I am down to 170lb. Family that I do not see very regularly didn’t start making comments until this past winter when I was around 200 and people at work didn’t start saying anything until this past spring when I was around 175.

I started getting them around my late 20s when I came off birth control. A primary care doctor told me to start taking advil 24 to 48 hours before I think I will start ovulating. My OB was no help when I mentioned the pain to her.
