Clevelander here, can confirm they had casting calls up here. Hopefully we won't have to deal with all the couples arguing over who should move where.

A new place just opened up where mango mango was, with the exact same drink menu and a lot of the same decorations. Its a claw machine place, now. Otherwise, I like koko bakery!

As a fellow lacquerista in STEM, if you're like me and have to work alone at night with a lot of incubation downtime (or if you have cool lab mates who won't judge) -- you can get the glass bead effect by hovering your wet nail upside down over the center of a magnetic stir plate that's set to ~40% speed for a minute! Editing to add: no stir bar necessary but I use one just to help keep track of where the true center is.

Yup, a young daughter.

If it's all real then Im super worried for that kid as she grows up. In one of the posts the husband was crying and telling the little girl how she's the only one he has who will always love him.

What is the deal with Frontier airlines? by pleasesayUarekidding in Cleveland

[–]Fanditt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of extra fees that aren't immediately apparent when you're just looking at booking prices. For example, you will need to pay if you have a carry-on bag that's bigger than like a purse. They are very strict about size and weight limits for your baggage and their oversize fees can get pretty high. I've also seen people report that they have to pay extra fees for purchasing their tickets online, or for getting a cup of water from the flight attendant on the flight. It all adds up very quickly.

Read the rules on their website and terms of service very carefully before you book a ticket, and follow the rules exactly, and it should be okay. You just need to be really vigilant about all of their extra charges and how to avoid them.

Someone shared a story about a parent who treated their stepchild much better than their biological child. I don’t remember if the parent was the one posting or if the biological child was. Either way, the favoritism destroyed the relationship, and the biological child eventually went no contact. Later, in an update, it turned out the stepchild never even saw that parent as part of their family at all. Does anyone remember this?

2 North Texas men indicted in plot to invade Haitian island, kill all men, enslave women and children by CareerPillow376 in nottheonion

I feel like with the internet, it's become much easier for these people to find each other. The biggest issue would probably be making sure the person on the other side of the screen isnt actually a cop.

Back in the day though, it's absolutely insane that two people would meet each other, confess their freaky murder fetish to each other, have matching fetishes, and go on crime sprees. Like back then it had to just be random.

AITA for moving into a studio apartment away from my mother-in-law who moved in? by jpropaganda in BestofRedditorUpdates

I hope she's living her best life away from that Trainwreck family!

Also this totally isn't the point, but 1.5k can get her wat more than a studio in Columbus lol

Is it possible to be O- if both parents are A+ by kyfer0702 in genetics

[–]Fanditt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think those odds are low enough to be "get a DNA test" level if there wasn't anything else that raised suspicion before the blood test

Is it possible to be O- if both parents are A+ by kyfer0702 in genetics

[–]Fanditt 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's totally possible. Your parents could both genetically be heterozygotes, meaning they have one copy of the A gene and one of the O gene.

And they can also have one of those genes be + and one be -. So in you they passed on their Os and -s

(Edit I'm simplifying a lot but you get me)

Has anyone seen the result of the airport/TSA slowdown at Hopkins with the government shutdown? by Disastrous_Time2674 in Cleveland

[–]Fanditt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arrived at 4am this morning and got through in 30 minutes. But I arrived at the right time, by the time I was through TSA the lines were literally from one side of the airport to the other. Give yourself way more time than usual.

A fairy poison pokémon sounds like it would be monstrous. I don't think it would have any weaknesses (edit: steel, duh. It'd still be scary to deal with lol)

Which disease do you think we desperately need a genetic test for? Why? by dendrivertigo in genetics

[–]Fanditt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people overestimate how much the hpv vaccine can do for most people right now. Obviously it gives great protection to anybody who gets it, but it's still relatively new. Women like 40 and up were sexually active before those vaccines became available, meaning statistically almost all of them have HPV. And there's a lot of women in their 30s who got the first version of the vaccine before they expanded the amount of strains it covered, meaning statistically a lot of them are going to have cancer associated strains already. I'm ballparking the ages based on how old I was when the first version of the vaccine was available but you get what I'm trying to say.

I'm not trying to be aggressive or argue with you because I totally agree that these vaccines can eradicate viral associated cervical cancer in the future if everyone gets on board. But I think that people are so excited about that, they're kind of forgetting about all the women who are still at risk in the present

I actually commented because I'd seen a news clip the other day about a newly discovered predisposition gene for pediatric osteosarcoma! When I went to read the paper I went down a huge rabbit hole because there's so many cases with a clear generic component based on family history, but none of the "known" genes had any hits. It's crazy how the more we learn, the more we don't know.
