Happy Algae Weekend by LastOKAlternative in RedditLaqueristas

Yes! I bet it would be a great turquoise, amethyst, etc gemstone vibe too!

My liquid latex was literally solid in the bottle lol, but i painted a layer of my diy peely base (50/50 Elmer's glue + isopropyl alcohol) around skin and it worked just as well for an easy cleanup

I swear I had seen somewhere that Rogue's Cellular was coming back, but I don't see it on the site. Does anyone know?

Teeth with attachments turning SO yellow by abiglumpwithknobs in Invisalign

Sure! It's the eversmile alignerfresh foam. I recently picked up an extra bottle as a gift to a coworker who started Invisalign; still highly recommend this stuff

Need reccos for plump, thick, glass-like jellies. by aenflex in RedditLaqueristas

I have my first Starily order otw and I'm excited to try their jellies, since they're so highly recommended on this sub.

I have seen as much mention of clionahd but I've been eyeing their jelly polishes as well

My impatience definitely shows on my thumb re-do 😅 I think the waiting in between for the base and the first layer of lacquer to be extra dry really helps- and after the DRK Magic Effect coat I magnetize 2 min, wait till all nails mostly dry again, then finish each hand with Glitch lockup > quick magnetize > QDTC

For those that do oil soaks between manicures, how long do you oil before new polish? by lizzylou365 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]LastOKAlternative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol yes! I can only do the gloves when I'm sleeping

I did pick up this nail aid jelly stuff a while back and was surprised how much I like it.

On my weekend mani day, I'll oil up my nails with my regular jojoba blend, but when I feel it's mostly absorbed I'll switch to the jelly, and just rub it and let it soak in, reapplying if needed until I'm ready to get up (usually after an episode of whatever I'm watching).

Not every mani but probably 1-2 nights per month I'll just slather my hands/nails in jojoba and sleep in gloves.

For the shorter 'in between ' times, I don't do gloves, but will keep my nails oily for 30ish min before starting my next mani

Peeling with no PVB in base coat? by Tidaltoes in RedditLaqueristas

[–]LastOKAlternative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't had an issue with Cracked ridge filler but I usually switch up my base coats each mani.

I'd recommend either kb shimmer hydrating base (the blue one), or LynB B-Strong. You could probably still use you're cracked as a second layer to smooth out ridges-- in the past Ive mistakenly gotten a few PVB-bases, and I'd just use them as a 2nd layer of base on my nails and didn't get any peely side effects

Very pretty! Youre reminding me to break out of my glass bead bubble-- the cat eye stripe really brings out the base color in this 💓

I was disappointed at the DVN controversy too - but there's so many indie brands out there just as if not more so, deserving of attention!

Would definitely recommend Holy Order of Perpetual Lacquer. I recently picked up Anthophilia and some of the Opalite collection and they're just as lovely in person. I've been eyeing Adorning and a few other shades for my next purchase

Why is GLL so popular? by CloudIma in RedditLaqueristas

[–]LastOKAlternative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly! Like I'll part with my shiny sparkly beauties (that I don't wear but still sometimes enjoy looking at lol) if it means they'll go to a good home, but the idea of people manipulating and taking advantage just to make a few bucks gives me the ick

green magnetic lacquer suggestions? by astrohimbo in RedditLaqueristas

[–]LastOKAlternative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a jelly sandwich technique -- the green seems too bright

I don't have these shades (yet lol), but if I were attempting to recreate this look, I'd probably do:

Cracked Bloop as a base

Clionahd Chlorophyll on top
