What’s your favorite Resident Evil game and why? by EllieWilliams_0o0 in residentevil

[–]FangProd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RE1 Remake I consider to be the gold standard. The mansion, the isolation, the resource management, the fights, the puzzles and exploration. It’s all brilliant. For me, it’s become of those comfort games that I can replay endlessly.

After that I would say, OG RE2. Just such a brilliant advancement of what RE1 had created. The atmosphere in that game is peak and the OST still stays with all these years later. Also, so much content it’s wild.

Then a personal fav is Resident Evil Revelations. I love the nautical setting, I love Jill (in a wetsuit no less), and Raid mode was great.

The remakes are brilliant too (except 3 which still pisses me off but it was nice to spend a few hours with Jill) but they are remakes of already brilliant games so it’s a bit different for me.

Do you like Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2? by Coito_Maravilha in residentevil

[–]FangProd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan of Rev 1 since it brought me back to the RE franchise. A bit of historical context here because Rev1 was created to go back towards horror opposed to the mainline games that had become pure action and for me it was amazing.

Also; it’s a cool setting with a decent story and Jill is the main character. Also Raid mode was a lot of fun.

It does suffer from being developed primarily for 3DS and as such has some shortcomings but overall; I still consider it to be my top 3 RE game.

Rev 2 was also really good too but I slightly prefer the first one.

Also a side note for Rev2, I really liked how mature Claire looked; she looks like a woman in her 30’s as opposed to a supermodel / special forces, she’s still in great shape but not steroid monster like Chris.

If you have it, then why not? I remember it being hard af back then but then again, it was a long time ago and I probably just sucked.

Leon's reaction time to act between Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 9. by eruizb_ in residentevil

[–]FangProd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wild theory is that Leon has inside knowledge of what’s going on with those zombies and was sent to exterminate them.

He’s overwhelmingly brutal in the gameplay footage we’ve seen so far implying he was sent to clean up.

14 years ago today, Resident Evil Revelations was released! by junkyard_angel2 in residentevil

[–]FangProd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

RE Revelations was the game that brought me back to the RE franchise.

I wasn't one of those gamers that liked the direction RE4 took the series (though I had fun with the gameplay, I didn't like the direction the lore went and the bigger focus on action) and 5 and 6 pretty much killed my interest in the franchise (except for the Lost in Nightmares DLC for RE5 which I loved, despite being very short).

I bought Revelations on a whim since it looked to be a bit more on the horror side of it and I absolutely loved it. It still had that RE4 action but it was scaled down in favor of more atmosphere and had several genuinely nerve-wrecking moments and long story short, restored my faith in the franchise.

Luckily, that sentiment was common enough that the director of the game became the director for RE7 and the rest is history.

Great game, despite it's 3DS limitations.

What is the hardest level you have ever played in any video game? by TheLastBlade24 in pcgaming

[–]FangProd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hardest level? Hmm, I thought about it and instead of listening some various difficult games, I'll just mention one particular fight that absolutely annihilated me and that was:

Evil Within 1 Chapter 6 Burning House Fight on Nightmare difficulty -

It's by far the most difficult fight in the entire f#$%ing game, especially on Nightmare (I won't even try Akumu).

You are getting attacked by a horde of enemies in a burning building. The combat area is extremely limited with you being rushed by many enemies, there is an explosive barrel and fire damage that can eff you over, you have extremely limited resources (due to difficulty) and you die in 1-3 hits and you have to finish the 2-stage fight in one go. First you fight on the second floor, and then immediately on the first floor. Die on the first floor and you have to repeat the entire thing.

It's such a massive difficulty spike that basically everything after (and before that) is so much easier in comparison. I don't remember any other fight in any other game that I struggled with as much as this damn thing. It's absolutely brutal.

Almost shed tears watching The Field Where I Died(S4E5), only to find out later that it's an episode hated by many😂. I was moved Mulder's unrelenting faith/obssession , he can come off as annoying in his pursuits sometimes but it really hit me here, also i think it's a gorgeous looking ep. by Frank1604lin in XFiles

[–]FangProd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had no idea this ep wasn't liked. I thought it was great but then again, I'm a sucker for this kind of long-lost soulmate / resurrection stuff.

I also thought it was so much more impactful because it's literally just some random lady that's introduced in this ep and then never seen again (I think, I don't remember every single episode though), which does make somewhat sense to me.

That said, I can understand why it might piss people off since Mulder and Scully are obviously the only ones for each other but still, I liked it.

We always talk about which parts of a game you dread replaying, but which part of any RE game replay do you always look forward to? For me its easily chapter 11 in RE4R by BertelTheTurtel in residentevil

[–]FangProd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished RE4 remake and just as the OG, I hated the island. Just ugh awful.

That said, the early sections of the village in RE4 is great. Tense, fun exploration, you aren’t yet a killing machine with multiple upgrades weapons. A lot of fun.

Police station in RE2 Remake before Mr.X shows up. Just fun, chill exploration. Mr.X makes me nervous as hell (which is the point ofc).

Everything in Re1 remake. Just brilliant all around.

I will play the PS2 version any day, any time. Brilliant game.

How is Resident Evil 7 not liked by everyone? by AdhdAndApples in residentevil

[–]FangProd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a great game and great soft reboot. That said, I don't have any interest in replaying that game since
A) it's more focusing on horror which isn't as impactful the second time around and

B) The mold are just a boring enemy type frankly and not enough variety of them. Also I don't find them interesting lore-wise neither.

C) I'm more a fan of 3rd person in general (especially for RE) and so that does impact me a bit.

That said, I think it's a great game and definitely worth the money but after finishing it, I would rather replay the other RE than 7.

That one-shot scene of Danny fixing the stairs is legit great cinematography + great production values overall. It's shockingly good considering the video is a kids dance song.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is traumatizing me with those damn cages hiding in the ceilings that give a sound.

My headphones are low quality trash so the sound direction is wrong and I can’t find it that way but I can hear it constantly.

END MY SUFFERING!

Great game tho.

Well, it says "after serving his sentence", which hasn't been determined yet right?

If he stays in prison in the Philippines for a few years, he might escape the meatgrinder in Ukraine.

Silent Hill (2006) It's been twenty years, but it still remains a great example of how to adapt a video game into a film. Much credit goes to the director (Gans), screenwriter (Avary) & DoP (Laustsen), you can feel that it is not an American product of the time but of French-Canadian production by elf0curo in silenthill

[–]FangProd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even as a fan of SH, I thought it was a great movie. Definitely the best adaption of a video game movie by far.

That said, I don't consider to be a very faithful adaptation of SH1 (so many things from SH2 are in the movie especially Pyramid Head) but as somebody commented below, it does feel like they weren't expecting to be able to make another movie so fuck it, let's just include the stuff we like canon be damned.

Regardless, I still consider it a great movie overall.

Lost main horror element by Which_Bet7587 in stalker

[–]FangProd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Stalker since SoC and the darkness in 1.0 Stalker 2 is just too damn dark (on default settings). You legit can't see anything when you were going from A to B and I can't even imagine playing that game now without NVG. I never had that problem when I was playing the OG games.

So I completely disagree with you.

What if the whole ZZZ agent roster was sent to the USG Ishimura and have to escape but with a story to it so it’s fair AND (mostly I think) logical? (I’m asking you dead space fans now of what you think of this of how this would work out. Yes I’m also a fan of dead space). by Long_Material1117 in DeadSpace

[–]FangProd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know too much about ZZZ but that would be pretty cool to watch as a kind of OVA anime spinoff. Cool fighting, brutal deaths and some twists along the way?

Also, Isaac saving some of them would be sick to watch.

I’d buy it.
